Looking back at the classic lore, I wanted to share an idea for a new anomalous object that can be found in the Backrooms. It’s called The Bloody Flashlight.
Where it spawns:
It can rarely be found on Level 1, Level 6, and Level 28 or 29 (On the original Wiki, Level 1 "Stormstone Storage").
How it's created:
It is a regular flashlight that became saturated with human blood. If a wanderer dies right next to an active, normal flashlight, it slowly absorbs the blood and anomalous properties, turning into this variant.
Mechanics & Drawbacks:
When turned on, it emits a deep, eerie crimson/burgundy light.
The Good: It triggers a strong sense of anxiety in the user, but it allows you to see hidden useful items. If you aim the beam at a room, any helpful loot or objects will glow with a bright red outline.
The Bad: Entities (like Smilers) are extremely aggressive toward this specific burgundy light. Even if a monster doesn't see you directly, it will instantly agro and hunt you down if it catches a glimpse of the flashlight's beam. Shining it directly at any entity causes an immediate, furious attack.
Behavior on Level 6 (Lights Out):
As we know, no light sources work on Level 6 except the tracker/scanner. If you turn on the Bloody Flashlight here, it will seem like it's not working—no visible light comes out. However, the anomalous nature of Level 6 entities changes everything. The invisible monsters that are normally only visible through the scanner will instantly sense the activated bloody flashlight. They will blindly rush into the room where it’s turned on, completely distracted by it. This can be used as a dangerous decoy to redirect entities away from you.
Battery / Fluid life:
It is not infinite. The flashlight slowly "consumes" the absorbed blood while active. It lasts for exactly 3.5 hours of continuous use. Once depleted, it turns back into a regular, dead flashlight.
What do you guys think? Would this fit the survival aspect of the early levels?
