An uncommon theory, and maybe not even a logical one, but an interesting one:What if The Caretaker, who created the albums that symbolize dementia, was actually the person who made the first 4chan post about the Backrooms?At the time the photo was supposedly taken, he would have been around 29–38 years old, so theoretically he could have taken that famous Backrooms image himself. I don’t know whether someone his age (he’s 52 now) would have been using 4chan back then, but who knows.I also don’t know if he ever connected that photograph to his albums in any way. It’s probably just a coincidence, but the atmosphere of the Backrooms and The Caretaker’s work feels strangely similar.
