He was the youngest of three children.- Paul's mother, Marilyn Bernardo, was adopted as a child by Major Gerald Ernest Eastman and his wife Elizabeth. The Eastmans are a wealthy and influential family in Ontario. As a child Marilyn was reportedly raped by three of her male family members. Marilyn eventually reconnected with her blood family when Paul was a teenager. She never found out why she was put up for adoption or why the Eastmans adopted her.- Paul's father, Kenneth Bernardo, was a neighbourhood peeping tom and pedophile who would be charged with molesting his daughter - Paul's sister - on the very same day Paul was arraigned on murder charges. - Kenneth was not Paul's biological father, he was the result of an affair with a man who has never been publicly named, but was according to some sources a prominent Canadian businessman. - Paul did not learn of this fact until he was sixteen years old when his mother told him about it. By all accounts this had a profound effect on him.- He began to hate his parents, particularly his mother, openly referring to her as a slob and a whore. In turn she began referring to him as "the bastard child from hell". - According to a close friend, Van Smirnis, before he found out about his real father he always went after older women, after he found out, he did a 180 and began desiring younger, submissive women. - From the time he was a child and continuing into adulthood, Paul had the habit of suddenly loosing focus in whatever he was doing and stare silently off into space - in other words, to disassociate.

She was the oldest of three children. - Karla's parents are Karel Homolka (born in the small village of Štokov in Czechia) and Canadian Dorothy Seger.- Unlike Bernardo her childhood appears to have been relatively stable, however not as much is known about it as both of her parents and her surviving sister Lori have never agreed to a full interview, only ever giving short statements to the press.- At least one odd behavior was noted about her parents: Karel casually referred to his wife as Bitch, as in "I'm home, Bitch" when returning from work.- Karla had a fascination with crime and the occult which started in childhood. By her teenage years she was placing ads in local newspapers looking to buy Ouija boards. A classmate recalled that she once came to school with cuts on her arms that were colored in with nail polish, which Karla claimed was from a ritual. - When Karla was 16 her boyfriend moved to Kansas. Defying her parents, she bought her own plane ticket to Kansas and flew out to spend time with him (note that travel, especially between the US and Canada, was much more lax pre-9/11). When she got back she told her friends stories of Satanic orgies, group sex, and bondage. Years later when her boyfriend was tracked down, he denied these claims, stating they just had "normal sex". - Karla's favorite book was Michelle Remembers, the first book dealing with ritual abuse and the book which coined the term Satanic ritual abuse. She inscribed her copy with a note reading "There is always something more left to say."
>>42504933THE SCARBOROUGH RAPIST + MEETING HOMOLKA- Sometime in 1986 or early 1987, Paul committed his first rape.- From then until 1990, he would commit at least 12, and possibly as many as 30 rapes in and around his home community of Scarborough (then a suburb of Toronto, amalgamated with Toronto in 1999).- He targeted teens and young women who were walking alone at night, often in or around bus stops.- In 1986 he graduated from the University of Toronto's Scarborough campus with a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a specialization in accounting. Almost immediately he was hired by Price Waterhouse as a junior accountant.- On October 17th of 1987, 17 year old Karla was in town with a friend for a pet convention. They were sitting in a hotel restaurant when Paul and Van Smirnis spotted them through the window. They introduced themselves and Paul and Karla immediately hit it off. Later that night they had sex in Karla's hotel room as Van and Karla's friend were awkwardly sitting in the same room.- Paul and Karla immediately became a couple, with Paul frequently driving to St. Catharines to see her. Despite Paul being 23 and Karla only 17, her parents approved of Paul, who was already successful and polite and generous with them, frequently bring them gifts of wine. - Not long after they started dating, Paul asked Karla what she would think if he was a rapist. She replied that she would think it was cool. It is likely that at this point he became completely open with her about the rapes he was already committing. - In one Scarborough Rapist attack in December of 1989, the victim reported someone else present along with her attacker, whom the victim believed to be a woman with a video camera recording the attack. At the time police discounted this part of her statement due the injuries and trauma she had suffered.
>>42504936THE COMPOSITE SKETCH + DNA COLLECTION- In late May of 1990 Paul committed another rape. Police worked with the victim, who got a good look at her attacker, and created a composite sketch often said to be a dead ringer for Paul. It was published in newspapers in Toronto and surrounding areas.- In the summer of 1990 police received two tips regarding Paul and his resemblance to the composite - one from a bank teller, and one from Tina Smirnis, the wife of Van's older brother Alex. He was interviewed twice - once in July and again in November. He admitted to police that he strongly resembled the composite but denied being the Scarborough rapist. He was calm during the interviews and police found him more credible than Smirnis.- In the November interview police asked him to provide blood and hair samples for DNA testing which he willingly provided, later telling Karla that he felt it would be too suspicious to refuse.- As DNA testing was still relatively new in 1990, Paul and Karla went to the library to read up on it. Resolving that there was nothing they could do now, they agreed to deal with the situation when it happened.- The police had told Paul that would take about a month to get the DNA results. In reality it took over two years for Bernardo's sample to be tested. This was despite a quick initial screening which determined that his was one of only five samples which could have been a match. Two different explanations have been offered for the delay - one is that the lab was simply backed up and prioritized murder cases over rapes, the other was that his sample was mistakenly marked as cleared by the lab. - As a final note on the Scarborough Rapist - there may have been more than one, the details of which are largely forgotten. Prior to the publication of the Paul composite, several other composites were released by police based on victims descriptions. None of these composites resembled Paul.
>>42504938DEATH OF TAMMY HOMOLKA- By the summer of 1990 Paul had made his attraction to the 15 year old Tammy clear to Karla. - At a party, Tammy left with Paul to buy more beer. They were gone for several hours and Karla was fuming mad when they returned. Paul admitted to her that they had made out.- Karla broke the blinds in Tammy's room so that Paul could spy on her. She also obtained Halcion (a sedative that also causes amnesia) which they crushed into powder and used to spike Tammy's drinks, hoping to sedate her enough so that Paul could rape her. One night when Tammy had two of her friends over for a sleepover, Paul spiked their drinks. He went into their room but realized that none of them were fully out. When confronted about it by the girls the next day, he passed it off as drunkenly wandering into the wrong room by mistake. - In reality, Tammy and her friends had become suspicious after noticing some Halcion in their drinks which was not fully dissolved, and had dumped them. These suspicions deepened when Tammy found a bag of white powder in Karla's room.- As the Halcion did not seem to be working on its own, Karla stole a bottle of Halothane (an inhaled anesthetic) from her workplace.- On Christmas eve 1990, Paul, Karla, Tammy, Lori, and the Homolka parents spent time together in the Homolka home. Tammy was allowed to drink alcohol due to the holiday, and Paul and Karla served her drinks spiked with Halcion. At one point Tammy suddenly blurted out "These guys are trying to poison me." Bizarrely, no one reacted to the statement. - Lori and her parents eventually went to bed leaving Tammy alone with Paul and Karla. She quickly passed out from the combination of alcohol and Halcion. Karla got the Halothane and used it to soak a cloth, which she would periodically hold over Tammy's face in an attempt to keep her unconscious.- Paul and Karla took turns holding the camera as they raped and sexually assaulted her.
>>42504941- Eventually Tammy began to vomit. Paul unsuccessfully tried to give her mouth to mouth. The couple quickly hid the drugs, dressed Tammy and moved her into the bedroom before calling 911. - An ambulance took Tammy and her parents to the hospital accompanied by two senior officers, leaving one officer - a seven week rookie named David Weeks, to interview Paul, Karla, and Lori.- Paul and Karla had told everyone that Tammy had just suddenly stopped breathing. Weeks found the situation suspicious. Tammy had a large burn on her face (later believed to be a reaction to Halothane) leading weeks to suspect that the group had been freebasing cocaine. - Weeks got a call from the hospital and informed the trio that Tammy had died. Lori immediately ran upstairs to call her ex-boyfriend. When Weeks came back downstairs after checking on her, Karla was loading the washing machine with the blankets her sister had vomited on. The water was already running when he stopped her. - Lori came back downstairs and the two sisters hugged each other and quietly cried. The effect of the news seemed to be most dramatic on Paul. He rocked back and forth frantically while smacking himself on the head and screaming. - Paul and Karla were taken to the police station and questioned separately. They both told the same story: they had been watching tv when Tammy suddenly stopped breathing. They said the burn on her face was caused by their dragging her across the carpet to the bedroom.- The coroner was sure that the mark on Tammy's face wasn't rug burn, but despite this, the police never questioned Paul or Karla about it again and Tammy's death was ruled accidental.

Karel asked Karla to come too but she told him to fuck off.- Lynn was unsettled that Dorothy and Karel showed no emotion while casket shopping. After they were done, Lynn said she was going home to rest for awhile and suggested they do the same. When Lynn returned later, Dorothy told her that instead of resting they had sex.- Tammy's funeral was on December 27th. The large burn mark on her face was clearly visible. Dorothy gave Lynn three different explanations for the burn: that it was the result of Paul giving her excessive mouth to mouth resuscitation, that it was the result of an allergic reaction Tammy had to acne medication, and finally that it was caused by the paramedics dragging her across the carpet.

>>42504947SMUGGLING OPERATIONS + MOVING IN WITH HOMOLKA- By 1990 Paul had left his job at Price Waterhouse. He attempted two legitimate business ventures - an attempt at making motivational tapes and a worm picking business - before being turned on to cigarette smuggling. - At the time cigarettes were considerably cheaper in New York state than Ontario, so smuggling was a profitable business. - His partner in the operation was Van Smirnis, who had a contact with a biker who would fence the cigarettes out of his car repair garage just outside of Sutton, Ontario. - Over the next several years Paul and Van made frequent tips across the border, sometimes crossing multiple times and week and as many as two or three times a day. Despite border patrol being on the lookout for people making frequent crossings, they were never caught and only briefly questioned a few times, cops on either side of the border usually just waved them through.- In early 1991 Paul rented a house in a suburb of St. Catharines and Karla moved in with him.
>>42504953MURDER OF LESLIE MAHAFFEY - Leslie Mahaffey was a 14 year old girl from Burlington. One the night of June 14th, 1991 she attended an informal memorial for a friend who had died in a fiery car crash along with three other teenagers.- Returning home after her curfew Leslie found herself locked out. She went to a nearby payphone to call a friend and ask if she could stay over. The friend told her no, and after a long conversation Leslie walked towards her home again at 2:30 am.- On the way home she encountered Paul Bernardo. Reports differ as to whether he was looking for licence plates to steal for use in his smuggling operation or intentionally looking for a victim.- When Leslie asked for a cigarette, he was able to get her into his car. He drove her home to his newly rented home in St. Catharines.- Before entering the home Bernardo blindfolded Leslie and ordered her to keep it on at all times.- Over the next 24 hours Bernardo and Homolka raped and sexually assaulted her while videotaping it. At one point Leslie's blindfold fell off.- Leslie was murdered sometime on June 15th. Homolka claimed that Bernardo strangled her with a cord. Bernardo claimed that he had taken a shower in preparation for driving Leslie to a remote location to release her, and when he came out Leslie was dead, with Homolka explaining that she must have overdosed in a manner similar to Tammy.- Bernardo dismembered Leslie with a circular saw, washed the body parts and wrapped them in bags, and then encased them in cement. He and Homolka later dropped the blocks into a lake. The blocks were found on June 29th, 1991 - the same day that Bernardo and Homolka were married.
>>42504957MURDER OF KRISTEN FRENCH- On April 16th, 1992 15 year old Kristen French was abducted by Paul and Karla while walking home from school. Karla got out of the car with a map, pretending to need directions, and then Paul forced her into the car at knifepoint.- Over the next several days they continually raped and abused her while videotaping the assaults.- Unlike with Leslie, they made no attempt to conceal their identities or the interior of their home from French, which prosecutors at Bernardo's trial alleged was a clear sign that he had intended to kill her from the beginning. Paul maintained that not only had Karla been responsible for French's death, but that he intended to keep her as willing sex slave after brainwashing her. Van Smirnis has stated in interviews that keeping a "virgin farm" of willing sex slaves was a long running fantasy of Paul's. - Kristen is noted for declining cooperation with her abductors towards the end of her captivity, refusing to recite certain lines and even enraging Paul by calling him a bastard.- Kristen's nude body was dumped beside a road in Burlington on April 30th. She may have been kept alive in captivity for as long as 13 days. Her body was dumped close to the cemetery where Leslie Mahaffey was buried.- The investigation into French's abduction and murder had a number of errors. Firstly was that several eye witnesses saw Bernardo's car speeding away from the abduction and mistakenly identified it as a cream colored Camaro, when it was in fact a gold Nissan. Secondly was that police reached out the FBIs famous Behavioral Sciences Unit to create a profile of the abductor. While the FBI correctly stated that two people had committed the abduction, they stated that the abductors would likely be two blue-collar men in their 30s. - After Kristen's body was found the lead investigator called in an expert on Satanic cults, allegedly due to markings on Kristen's body.
>>42504959- Kristen's hair had been cut off, according to Karla this was done to impede identification, though it's highly unlikely that someone as intelligent and as well read in true crime as Karla would be unaware of fingerprint and dental identification. Author Stephen Williams was told by a source who worked in the funeral home which handled Kristen's body that the tendons in her legs had been cut - described along with the head shaving as a sure sign of Satanic ritual abuse.- Around a month after her body was found a man called 911 from a payphone and claimed to have knowledge on Kristen's abduction and murder. It has never been made public exactly what this person said but police issued a statement that they believed this person either had direct knowledge of the person(s) who committed the murder or was close to someone who had direct knowledge.
>>42504965THE BEGINNING OF THE END- In late December of 1992 Paul severely beat Karla. She left him to stay with her aunt and uncle. Paul was arrested and later released on his own recognizance. - In early February 1993 Toronto police were informed by the lab that Bernardo's DNA was a match to the Scarborough Rapist. He was immediately placed under 24 hour surveillance. - On February 9th police interviewed Karla, however all she would talk about was his treatment of her. Later that night she told her aunt and uncle that Paul was the Scarborough Rapist and had murdered French and Mahaffey. The next day they put her in touch with an attorney, who immediately began negotiating with the crown (government) for a deal on her behalf. - Between February 13th and the 16th, Paul drove over 1,800 miles. He visited locations in Toronto, Burlington, and Newmarket, and also crossed the border and visited locations in Pennsylvania and Canton, Ohio. - On February 17th Paul was arrested for both the Scarborough rapes and the murders of Leslie Mahaffey and Kristen French.- Paul was interrogated for several hours. He repeatedly asked for an attorney and was denied by the detectives, a violation of his civil rights which ultimately meant that nothing said during this initial interview could be used in court.- Police searched Paul's house for 71 days during which none of the incriminating videotapes were found, police found only one tape showing a brief segment of Karla performing oral sex on an unknown female. - Paul eventually told his lawyer Ken Murray that the videotapes were hidden inside a ceiling light fixture in the upstairs bathroom. Murray retrieved the tapes and ultimately did nothing with them for 17 months, at which point he resigned as Paul's attorney and handed the tapes over to his new lawyer, who immediately turned them over to police.
>>42504967THE TRIALS AND PUBLICATION BAN- Homolka went to trial in July 1993. She accepted a plea bargain that would see her serve only 12 years for her part in the crimes. At this time Paul's lawyer still held the videotapes and Karla's testimony was considered crucial to his conviction. Prosecutors later stated that had they seen the tapes and been aware of the extent of Homolka's involvement they would not have agreed to the deal.- Homolka's trial was subject to a publication ban in Canada, essentially this meant that the press could not report on certain details of the trial - officially this was done to protect Bernardo's right to a fair trial.- The ban was met with widespread criticism and outrage, particularly when Bernardo's trial revealed the full extent of Homolka's involvement. - At Bernardo's trial the attorney general decided not to hold a preliminary hearing. While this is technically legal it is rarely done and is extremely unusual in a high profile case like this.- During Bernardo's trial, unknown persons left a monument outside of the courthouse one night: a two meter metal sword impaled in a stone dripping animal blood. The stone was engraved with the Greek letter omega inside a triangle. - An anonymous caller to the Toronto Star newspaper took credit for the monument, saying it was the work of a group of artists and musicians calling themselves Asové. He said the sword was the sword of justice and the blood was tainted blood.- Asové means "aces" in Czech (Karla is half Czech). - Bernardo admitted to being a rapist and kidnapper but denied being a murderer, claiming that Karla had killed the girls. He was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
>>42504970WHO ACTUALLY KILLED THE VICTIMS?- Bernardo always maintained that it was Homolka who had killed both Mahaffey and French. There is some evidence to support this claim.- Bernardo claimed that Homolka killed Mahaffey by strangulation due to Mahaffey's blindfold falling off at one point, leaving Karla convinced that she could identify them. Bernardo never worried about being identified, he never wore any kind of disguise when committing rapes.- In the case of French, Bernardo claimed that he had left French tied up and under Homolka's guard while he went to get food. He returned to find French dead, with Homolka telling him that French had tried to escape, leading to Karla striking her unconscious with a rubber mallet and French subsequently choking to death in her bonds.- While both French and Mahaffey had numerous physical injuries, both had two small bruises on their lower backs on either side of their spines. These bruises were roughly the same shape and size as Karla's knees. It has been posited that the marks were caused by Karla kneeling on their backs and strangling them with a cord.- Additionally, while Tammy's death is usually accepted as unintentional, some believe that Karla - whose jealousy over Paul's attraction to Tammy is well documented - had intentionally administered an overdose of Halothane.
>>42504975WHO CALLED THE SHOTS?- Some defenders of Karla have attempted to portray her as more of a victim than a willing participant, and some have even claimed she was suffering from "battered woman syndrome".- Sufferers of the syndrome are women of lower than average intelligence who are isolated from family and friends by their abusers and frequently beaten into submission, leaving them in state of diminished capacity. - Karla's tested IQ places her in the top 2% of the population, she frequently socialized with friends and family and held down a part time job. - Whether or not Karla was physically abused by Paul during their relationship is something that is continually debated - however, doctor's records prove that not only had Homolka visited the doctor's multiple times during her relationship with Paul, he had often been the one to arrange for her to do so. Her doctor never noted any signs of physical abuse. The only provable time that Paul beat Karla resulted in her leaving him. - Paul's father stated that he noticed a change is Paul when he started dating Karla. With the women he dated, Paul was the boss. With Karla "He kowtowed to her(...)when she called, he went."
>>42504982THE BLACK HOLE- Phrase used by an investigator to describe the tendency of evidence/reports on Bernardo and Homolka to be mishandled or ignored by authorities, including:- Paul's DNA being on file for over 2 years without being tested.- Tammy's unusual death being fast tracked as accidental- Paul's seeming ability to cross border smuggle with impunity.- At least two tips regarding people who knew Paul being suspicious of his deteriorating mental state in 1992 and coming to police with their suspicions that he was involved in the schoolgirl murders. One of these reports was made by his closest friend Van Smirnis. These tips were essentially ignored.- Karla bringing home an underaged "friend" from her workplace and drugging her, the girl stopped breathing at one point and Karla called 911. However Paul was able to revive her, so Karla called 911 back and told them not to come. Despite it being against protocol, no police showed up to investigate the call.- A woman who reported Bernardo had stalked her provided his licence plate number to police. They went to his home and knocked, and when no one came to the door, they simply left and never came back.
>>42504991THE TAPES- The first "level" of tapes are sex tapes Bernardo and Homolka made of themselves, and of themselves with an adult prostitute. In the late 90s and early 2000s these were available on filesharing networks like LimeWire, but appear to have since been scrubbed from the internet.- The second "level" are tapes of Bernardo and Homolka raping their victims, both adults and minors, and including Tammy, Leslie, and Kristen. Officially these tapes have never been made public.- The third "level" are snuff films showing the murder of Leslie and Kristen (and possibly other victims) which may not even exist.- The government maintains that none of the second level of tapes were ever made public and have long since been destroyed, but author Stephen Williams was put on trail for violation of the publication ban for naming unidentified rape victims seen in the videos on his website, he also possessed a portion of the video of the rape of Tammy Homolka which he obtained through unidentified sources. - Early in the investigation it was claimed that some Bernardo videos were being sold in underground porn shops in Japan. The RCMP took these claims seriously enough to send a contingent of officers to Japan in a failed attempt to locate them. - Another report came from Florida, where a pornography wholesaler called Rumpus Distributors was selling a video called "Nympho Adventures", an ad described it as two 1993 films showing "Headmistress Karla showing two disobedient schoolgirls the ropes." - The owner of Rumpus Distributors, Barry "Suitcase" Kalfin, denied possessing any Homolka tapes, and its unclear from newspaper reports if any were found, however Kalfin would be charged with several counts related to selling obscene material.

He had a music studio in his home with thousands of dollars worth of production and recording equipment. No completed tracks are known to survive, but he apparently had legitimate skill in music production, if not rapping itself. He also correctly predicted in the early 90s that rap would eventually overtake rock music in popularity. - His rap name was Young Hype and his debut album was to be called Deadly Innocence. His logo was a broken Christian cross, crossed by two handguns.
>>42504998WHATS IN A NAME - Shortly before he was arrested Paul had legally changed his name to Paul Jason Teale. Early press coverage would refer to him by this name before reverting back to his birth name.- The last name Teale was an alternate spelling of Theil, the last name of a serial killer in the 1988 film Criminal Law, with whom Paul identified.- He reportedly also strongly identified with Patrick Bateman from the novel American Psycho.- The middle name Jason was taken from the hockey mask wearing killer from the Friday the 13th movie franchise. HAUNTED HOUSE- As soon as they moved into their rented house Karla became worried that the house was haunted. In a letter to a friend she wrote that Paul was constantly complaining about "strange fumes" coming out of the basements drains.- After Leslie and Kristen's murders, the activity intensified. Karla stated that multiple times she heard Paul's voice calling to her from the basement, even when he was upstairs.- She also stated that both her and Paul heard mysterious knocking sounds coming from the basement.
>>42505003POTENTIAL CONNECTION TO MURDER OF ELIZABETH BAIN- Elizabeth Bain was a 22 year old student at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus. On June 19th 1990, she disappeared after telling her mother she was going to check the tennis schedule at the university.- Her car was later found abandoned with a large amount of her blood on the back seat. Her body has never been found, but there was enough blood to indicate that she was deceased. - Her boyfriend Robert Baltovich was convicted of her murder in 1992 and sentenced to life in prison. The case against him was incredibly weak and his conviction was eventually overturned in 2008. - After his conviction Bernardo was considered an alternate suspect in Bain's murder. However, there is no direct evidence implicating him other than geographical proximity and he has always denied involvement.- However it should also be noted that a friend of Bain's claimed she introduced her to Bernardo at a house party in the late 1980s.
>>42505007DISAPPEARANCE OF LOIS HANNA- Lois Hanna was a 25 year old woman who disappeared on July 4th, 1988, after attending a dance in Lucknow Ontario.- Lucknow is far from Toronto, but is close to Owen Sound, a place where Paul often vacationed at.- She was reported missing the next day when she failed to show up for work. - Lois left the dance at around 11:45 PM. It is confirmed that she made it home, as her car was found parked in her driveway, her purse was inside, and a half finished cup of tea was sitting on the counter. - An older model blue truck was seen outside her home on the night of the 4th. Additionally, a couple driving not far from her home reported seeing a woman in a nightgown who matched her description running down the side of the road, who ran off into a field when they got close.- Officially police do not consider Bernardo a suspect. They have a suspect - a local man who has never been named - but lack the evidence to charge him.- However there is a very odd connection to Bernardo. At the same dance Lois attended the wife of the town's fire chief had her purse stolen. Five years later in 1993 she got a call from Toronto Police informing her that her missing purse was found in Bernardo's possession when his house was searched.
>>42505011RUSSELL WILLIAMS- Russell Williams is a former Canadian air force colonel convicted in 2010 of the murders of two women. At the time of his arrest he was commander of CFB Trenton, Canada's largest air force base.- Williams was fast tracked to the upper echelons of the Canadian forces. From December 2005 to May 2006 he was the commanding officer of Camp Mirage, a secretive logistics facility believed to be located at Al Minhad Air Base in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. At other times in his career he flew transport planes carrying the Prime Minister of Canada, as well as Queen Elizabeth II and many foreign dignitaries. - In addition to the murders Williams is also a serial rapist, and in a two year period between 2007 and 2009 conducted 82 known "panty raids" in which he broke into homes to steal women's underwear which he later photographed himself wearing.- Williams attended the University of Toronto at the same time as Bernardo and both studied economics. Not long after this, Lapointe claimed he was stabbed in the back by a masked assailant who has never been identified. - Between 2007 and 2014 it was reported that she was living in the Netherlands Antilles and Guadeloupe, but by 20014 had returned to Quebec. - In 2017 it was discovered that Homolka was volunteering in a kindergarten class. Her parole restrictions had long since been lifted and she was legally allowed to due to so, but after outraged parents complained she was let go.- As of 2020 she is reportedly living in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec, without her husband and children.
