Missing 411, possibly the biggest load of bullshit of all time?tl;dr Missing 411 is the title of a series of books written by David Paulides. These books collect stories of missing persons, some who were found alive, some found dead, and some never found at all. A common theme is police inactivity or laziness, and unusual details from the missing person or the people they were with before they went missing.Author Paulides has written works on bigfoot and will often not-so-subtly hint towards the possibility of a disappearance being connected to bigfoot as opposed to aliens or wendigo or what have you, sometimes by mentioning "wild-men" and implying that they were in fact bigfoot misidentified. The problem is, like so much supposed paranormal crap, when you dig into his claims he's very often misrepresenting or selectively amplifying accounts. Even in situations where he is mostly accurate, you have to consider the problem that the supposed "facts" of the case are reported second or even third-hand, so it is very easy for things to be misquoted in a way that would make them sound stranger than they are. When someone actually looks for primary sources (like this one guy on Youtube The Lore Lodge) it turns out that the cases have almost nothing in common with each other, and most of them aren't mysterious at all. People make bad decisions, go missing in places it would be hard to see them if they were downed, experience text-book paranoid delusions, or experience recognized medical conditions. Then they become spooky stories for sad people who are desperate to believe there is more to the world than we understand rather than just accepting what we already know: that the wilderness is dangerous and it's easy to get lost and die an unexpected death

>>42528489>nooooooooo you can't check if any of the shit you're told is true, you're supposed to let some creepypasta youtuber completely butcher the story so it sound spookyyyyyyyyyy
>>42527971unfortunately, the world is that dull
>>42528565Many on this board desperately wish it wasn't so
>>42528489Cool selfie anon
>>42527971The funny thing is, I own the books, I've read some of them. I listen to Paulides on Coast to Coast and stuff. He has interesting theories and there are some wild stories of people vanishing. But I didn't really think much of it more than just interesting storiesEXCEPT...for the several threads similar to this one that I've seen trying to discredit Missing 411. OP is an obvious fucking shill trying to discredit Paulides and his work. Why would anyone come to /x/ of all places to try to shit on what is essentially just missing person stories. Why does this TOTALLY ORGANIC thread pop up every couple weeks. Hmmmmmmmmm. I'm getting so sleepy. Are you guys getting sleepy?
>>42529864If you saw multiple threads jerking off Missing 411 you wouldn’t think twice about it. Take your meds schizo
>>42529864>WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP CRITICIZING THIS REALLY POPULAR THING? IT MUST BE A CONSPIRACY!!!How do you function in daily life? Genuinely curious
