Does meditation actually do anything or is it a meme?
>>42561141TM is one of the best things for people with anger issues/unresolved trauma
>>42561141Meditation is deliberate focus of awareness. It can be done many ways and be effective for many different goals.Dont let buddhist preachers tell you there is only one way, for only one reason.
>>42561141This shit actually made me feel like I was tripping on shrooms and made me very ancious. I think I might have shared it with my yoga teacher, cause when we opened our eyes she saif>"You know, sometimes is good to return"Fuck this desu
>>42561141Try it and see for yourself :) but to answer your question, it does do something.
>>42561141Meditation has been great for me, although the beginning was challenging. No harm in trying it.
To me one of the best aspects is that it is the most balanced position to be in. standing and walking is high energy, and laying down and sleeping are low energy, but sitting perfectly still, with your limbs folded neatly, you are perfectly balanced, and it feels good like that. that aspect alone makes it nice
>>42561141I know that if I meditated for 3 days straight with no food or water in a closet I'd be able to see outside the room during that time. But I don't know if I can manage it.
It does things but for me I have to do it daily for like 40+ minutes straight in order to see effects taking place otherwise I don't.
Yeah, it does do sum'n.If your next question is "How?" the just sit still, comfortablly, straight spine as u can manage, and focus on breathing gently. When your zoomer brain gets bored after a few minutes just stop and try again some other time. Eventually the time focused on your breathing will pass as smoothly and pleasantly as the time you spend focused on screens. If you don't believe me that's fine too. Finger pointing at the moon and all that.
it's the most excruciating thing ever and you need to keep at it everyday to see results beyond "feeling good for five minutes." Also there's a good chance that your subconscious will fight you to death and come up with all kinds of excuses when you try to commit to the practice.
>>42561141Ppl just pretend like they meditate to sound cool but in real life nobody actually meditates
>>42561141My nigga without believing any of the post any of the youtube videos and book on meditation, simply turn of your PC, your phone, no music, go sit somewhere (outside nature is nice, it's primal, connecting cleansing qualities of nature) and let the mind do it's thing.
>>42561141>>42563398You sit somewhere comfortable. It can be outside, inside, on a chair, or on the floor. You remove distractions (phone, music, etc.)You choose something simple to anchor your attention usually the breath, bodily sensations, or sounds.Thoughts inevitably arise. They might come rapidly, especially if you're not used to being without stimulation.Instead of following each thought, arguing with it, or trying to stop it, you notice it and gently return your attention to your breath (or whatever your anchor is).Repeat this hundreds of times if necessary. That "repeat" is the meditation. Returning to this is the practice. When you remove external stimulation, your brain's normal activity becomes much more noticeable.random memories appear, plans for tomorrow, songs get stuck in your head, worries arise, imaginary conversations happen. This is normal. You're not creating more thoughts you've just stopped drowning them out with external input.Over time, if you don't keep feeding every thought, they often lose momentum. The gaps between thoughts may become longer. You may notice more of your breathing, bodily sensations, or sounds around you. Some people describe this as calm or spaciousness.thought - notice it - let it pass - return to the breath. That shift is what many meditation traditions are training.A simple 10-minute practiceSit comfortably.Breathe naturally.Feel the sensation of the breath at your nostrils or your abdomen. When you notice you've been thinking for 5 seconds or 5 minutes, simply think, "thinking," and return to the breath.Don't judge yourself for getting distracted. Every return is part of the practice. If after 10 minutes you spent 9 minutes lost in thought and came back 30 times, you didn't fail you practiced returning 30 times.>>42563234simply.. no
>>42563234It's actually worse than that. They put in actual effort and time, but get out of at most just "peace of mind". And then they put on that layers of metaphysics and mysticism for decoration.
Maybe
>>42561141focusing on something is really good for you. drawing, playing music, or writing are better forms of "meditation" instead of focusing on your breath or whatever. actual meditation is a state you can enter (like entering the state of sleeping) in which all of your physical senses disappear and all that remains is your consciousness. your body gets used to and blocks out repetitive stimulation, like how you get used to a smell or eventually you stop hearing the hum of a fan, whats left when this happens to all your senses?
>>42563529>whats left when this happens to all your senses?Holy fuck.
>>42561141I just fall asleep or end up fapping. It's a meme
>>42561141The point of meditation is to sit down with crossed legs and look cool doing it. The more cool you look the more succesful the meditation is.
>>42561141only works when you take magic mushrooms
