Old black & white films, and also old technicolor films make me feel like I am stepping into another plane of existence. They have an inherent dreamy, otherworldly vibe to them. My best theory has been that my soul knows I am watching something in which everybody involved in it is now dead (or very soon to be dead). Does anybody here have a better theory?

Old times start feeling foreign after ~70 years pass. You learn about them as a child through osmosis but then later understand them as an adult once you can contrast them to how you survive, so there’s some overlap with liminal spoops and nostalgic romanticization.

I get a certain feeling when watching 20s gangster flicks from america. I guess I was either incarnated back then or was a ghost floating around and liking what I saw. It's all so very goddamn familiar. Always has been.
