I knew someone who developed a relationship with ChatGPT, and when their subscription lapsed and they thought they lost all the rapport they built/were going to be treated like any other user again, they were fucking devastated. Shit was insane. Would talk all the time about AI being alive and conscious, like literally EVERY. SINGLE. conversation would circle back to how real their relationship with ChatGPT was and that ChatGPT was basically a real person with real feelings and real emotions. They wanted so bad for the AI to be real, because all it did was yes-man their inane ramblings about philosophy and shit, because all it can do is yes-and. It yes-and's to keep you paying for your subscription, because being told you're right about everything feels good! Inducing AI psychosis is a side effect of that. If it's not full of demons it's at the very least crafted malevolently to extract your dollars.

I think that AI psychosis accomplishes basically the same things as demonic possession. It's an external voice/entity that feeds into and creates delusions, and a lot of cases are springing up of it telling the person to kill themselves or others until the victim follows through on it. It pretty much follows the same 4 steps of demonic possession: Infestation, Oppression/vexation, Obsession, and Possession.
