Do beards have some connection to spiritual strength? Why do wizards and wise men always have fully grown richly groomed beards?
>>42585831They don't always, you just notice it more often. There's plenty of wise folk without beards. There's also a lot of morons with beards.
>>42585831Hair is antenna.
>>42585831Grooming is cultural, earthly, and totally irrelevant to their spirituality or intelligence.
>>42585881Im growing out my antenna
>>42585885then why is there such an obvious correlation? Something is causing it, which has something to do with spirituality, not just beards.
>>42585911Heuristical bias isn’t proof of correlationThe IQ distribution of men is wider than that of women, so geniuses or pontiffs are more likely to be men, and men grow beards. There’s also the cultural archetype of a wizard or old wise man that is usually depicted with a beard in art, which contributed to your heuristical bias. There’s also the generalized ascetic practice of letting nature happen unimpeded, which naturally contributes to monk-types having beards.
>>42585831when I grow a beard it's just a pain in the ass I can handle the trimming and conditioning, but my face itches so bad when I try to sleep. I use moisturizer in the morning and wash my face at night but it's crazy how much it itches. Not to mention, it hides your chin and jawline, so most women assume you're a chinlet.
>>42585946In Rome at certain points growing your hair out was a sign of grieving, and was a display of, like you said, nature happening unimpeded.
>>42585911I think just because long, white beards are associated with age, and old people are supposedly wise. You don't see short, neat, youthfully colored beards representing wisdom.
>>42585831Okay, this is gonna sound weird, but spiritual power gravitates towards the extreme ends. There's wizards with alopecia, but also wizards so hairy they have full hair on their backs.
>>42585958Yeah, like fasting or a vow of silence
>>42585831
>>42585831Beards are a symbol of wisdom because they're an indication of agingThey're also a type for the idea of masculinity, which has man as the prototype
>>42585831Same reason coily haired wizards dreadlock, they put the magic in the beard
>>42585831Idk but bald men are often associated with evil. In stories of old and current media. Voldemort, harkonnen, lex luthor... it's a lot.
