Is AI the reason the sky is silent? Watching our world economy lurch from cryptocurrency to web3 to generative AI, I wonder if this is the true Great Filter. Not some existential threat, but that most intelligences only evolve to become just smart enough to be trapped in a series of increasingly expensive behavioral sinks. AI is already one third of our economy, how much of our resources will the next massive waste of time and energy consume?
