Even if the occult and mysticism was always being investigated across every instance in human story (like theosophy, Thelema, new thought and new age, Shamanism, parapsychology, chaos and post-chaos magick advacements, the mystical counterparts of established religions like Sufism, among other examples) it mostly remained as a fringe thing, only being pursued by people in the "know" and pretty much an underground area that was rarely acknowledged by the public, and globally rejected by the common consensus as dated superstition and an impossibility. However, with the advent of the internet and forums, online communities started to appear dedicated to the more open documentation and discussion of the occult, mystical, metaphysical, and any paranormal phenomena. Dreamviews, Wizard Forums, the /fringe/ imageboard, etc.It was then around mid 2010s when there was a masive proliferation of becoming aware of the existence of magic and the paranormal, becoming a very prominent subject of discussion, more than anything due to "The Secret", the resurgence of LoA due to Neville Goddard resurfacing in recent times, and "Reality Shifting" becoming trending, sprawling distinct groups on reddit and all over the internet dedicated to spiritual practices, and metaphysical speculation. Reaching it's zenith between 2015 and 2021.Nowadays it feels that the subject has become somewhat niche again. Notable spaces on reddit became inactive or closed for read-only archives, notable users and community just leaving the internet, and even the discussion has became suffocated, as the "popular" paradigm has again shifted to fundamental agnostic skepticism. Even this board has become more inactive and disconnected from magic, and the focus has become somewhat more politically oriented. Any thoughts on this? Where did all the magicians go? Is there hope for another wave of mystics, or did internet finally has overstayed its welcome on the grand scheme of things and no longer serve this?
>>42591576the darker implications in my opinion would be that a lot of people have moved towards rather dark things, belief in destruction and power above all else, or just pointless bullshittery. if you look online much of the discussion has turned into religious fads, acceleratonist nutjobs, and just people screaming into the void. i suppose the silver lining would be though that more exposure doesn't always mean good exposure
>>42591597It also could be that people pioneering this stuff that are somewhat acknowledgeable has simply moved on onto the real world, or into ascension. The mainstream narrative is a bullshit illusion, and everyone who knows how to do magic can do just fine by themselves. This is hard to take for people who need external validation to proceed on their path.
