Ever since I was a little kid, they’ve been awful and almost every night. They take place in weird, almost alternate-universe situations where I’m somebody else, usually in themes and environments that can repeat for many months. Things I HAVE tried>praying to ChristI have tried this one the most and it was the first piece of advice I ever got about this. It does not work. If you want to give me a Jesus solution, please show you even read this far by not suggesting simply prayer.>timing my meals such that I don’t eat anywhere near bedtime>getting tested for sleep apnea (but not having it)>PrazosinThis one worked the best. Like a charm for maybe 6 months and then it just stopped working completely>smoking weed before bed until I’m extremely uncomfortable but at least unlikely to have a dream of any kindEven this one doesn’t work very reliably. The dreams come through anywayWhat the fuck do I do? It’s eating at my sanity and effecting my moods strongly throughout the early day.
>>42609954clearly you need to learn some sort of lesson from these nightmares, then you will be free
stop consuming stressful or scary mediatry fasting and parasite cleanseCBT that you aren't actually walking around with a triggered nervous system
>>42609954Prophetic Warnings vs. Mind Clutter: In the Babylonian Talmud (Berakhot 55b), dreams are described as \(\frac{1}{60}\) of prophecy. However, sages like Maimonides and Nachmanides suggest that most bad dreams are simply products of daily anxiety, indigestion, or unaddressed thoughts. Frightening dreams are only treated as serious omens if they involve specific, repetitive, or logical sequences
>>42609963Entirely possible. If so, I’m a pretty massive brainlet because this has been going on since I was 4 or 5 kek. Should have got it by now, even if I was being obnoxiously stupid kek>>42609964Walking around with a triggered nervous system is exactly the shit that bothers me. I do this but how helpful it is varies pretty wildly month to month>>42609975>Frightening dreams are only treated as serious omens if they involve specific, repetitive, or logical sequencesThat itself is very foreign for me to try and interpret. Maybe I can give you slightly better information here>the dreams are indeed generally (mostly organized) sequences of events>in the dreams, however, I have a self that is not my waking identify. (I am anon anonson in real life but I’m spurdo mcburger in the dream, shit like that)>in the dream, I do not remember the existence of waking self. I AM that person for the time being>but the dreams frequently contain elements of surrealism that make them seem not-completely-real. As in, I do not think I am genuinely inhabiting the body of another during the dream. It just feels that way in the dream>sometimes situations repeat for many months>sometimes they “zipper” through each other. Ex. Dream A for weeks, stops, dream B for a week, dream A again, a new dream C, and then back to dream A
my wife has alot of dreams where she is being pursued.maybe its tied to general anxiety, your bad dreams arn't ruining your days, your days are stressing you out in your sleep.

>>42610101those who never even tried starts making jokes about someone with experiencekretin
>>42609954It's probably the eating before bed or near bedtime or you also have poor sleep hygiene. I work night shifts and sometimes I have horrifying nightmares, but none of this really started happening until my mom passed away so it could also just be stress for us as well.
>>42610088Numbers of concerning significance>IT NEEDS TO MOVE BUT IT CANTInteresting. Recently I’ve been on a manga kick but finished/got to current with pretty much everything on my list. I started reading Naruto from the beginning since I noticed that story and character development are a little better and more nuanced in the manga compared to anime. So what you said reminded me of the little seal he has that holds in the nine tales. I guess it’s a spiral seal because the story and blahblah But orochimaru shows up in the forest of death during the chunnin exams and forces a seal with an opposite spiral on top to obstruct the flow and form of naruto’s chakra. Jiraya ends of taking it off and that’s part of the story for another reason but it helps Naruto greatly with his control of everything chakra-related and especially nine tales related.Obviously I don’t think I’m special enough to have some nine taled spirit inside me. But I think the spirit of what happened in the story would be really helpful- finding a way to let it move just a littleAny advice?
1. Quell your nervous system from being in fight or flight mode. Somatic exercises, TRE, calming foods, get away from stress. Meditation. Affirmations, plus your CBT. Routine is your nervous systems friend.2. Become proficient (as one can be) in lucid dreaming/dream yoga. You might even come to see your nightmares as a blessing and gateway.3. Ever tried magic mushrooms?4. Get a Dreamcatcher. 5. Get into shamanism and find your spirit animal, spirit guide and gatekeeper.
>>42609954> How do I stop having nightmaresyou don’t. you become the nightmare.
>>42609954Weed will only supress your REM sleep making you wake up more tired. You have to fix your endocannabinoid receptors and CNS. You could be having a REM rebound because of stress or substances. Abnormal sleep of any kind is just a symptom that something is fucked. Sleep is heavily connected with every part of your body. You have to cleanse your mind and body.
>>42609954Nightmares are useful. Why would you want them to stop?
>>42611599They happened intensely before the weed. It’s an occasional occurrence hung that at least stops the dreams when they’ve been too intense over a period of days>>42611604The are emotionally distressing in the deepest possible way for me. I mentioned I am a different self with no regard to my waking self in a majority of them; I wake up profoundly confused about where and who the fuck I even am. I frequently wake up screaming.I shouldn’t have anything to cause PTSD so intense that it causes night terrors. I had kind of a fucked up home life growing up but my parents were more neglectful than actually abusive. I didn’t get molested or see any events I shouldn’t have. The night terrors had begun in my early childhood prior to my family falling apart in any case.I agree that nightmares aren’t necessarily a bad thing but I need peace.
>>42609954Have you tried doing a parasite cleanse?Pic related is a pretty good fungal parasite cleanse.
>>42609954Personally, trazodone before bed helped me a lot with nightmares.
>>42609954unironically smoke weed before beddownside: no regular dreams either
>>42611779oh sorry I didn't read your entire post OPtry heroin or benzos
>>42609954Fight them. I know one is innately scared when the nightmare is happening, but just saying fuck it and charging at whatever it is that is attacking you with courage flips things. nightmare's anthema is a lack of fear. For instance I was in a quarantine for some really nasty disease. At first I was petrified, it was maximum grimness and grim situation, survivors with no hope waiting for the disease, but I ended up chatting to this girl next to me how we're going to get through this and if she has any benzos to give me that would be awesome (she did.) Much harder said than done, no doubt, but no bullshit, man, it works for me when I muster the courage.
>>42609954>Ever since I was a little kid, they’ve been awful and almost every night.Same. Recently though (past year and a half) I took a serious interest in magick and have been employing banishing and wards. Performed regularly they've helped cut down the severity of the nightmares by an extreme degree.https://forum.becomealivinggod.com/t/safe-servitor-for-beginners-banishing-protection-shielding-and-warding/128984https://forum.becomealivinggod.com/t/raziel-sigil-to-defend-against-spiritual-harassment/118505I'd always suspected my nightmares were being instigated by someone or something outside of myself, rather than being productions of my own subconscious mind (hope that makes sense, I'm drunk right now). They were too extreme to be possibly coming from myself. The result, I believe, has confirmed that.
>>42611680There’s a variant of PTSD called complex PTSD, where instead of a direct cause like combat or sexual violence, you experienced prolonged periods of abuse. One example is a POW being in a foreign prison for years. Another example, more relevant to you, is emotional neglect. Your needs weren’t met, and it has resulted in trauma reactions.I know /x/ in general is anti-psychiatrist and anti-therapy, but those are two viable options. You can also approach the issue through religion, if you believe. My advice, as someone formally diagnosed, is to try to work with it instead of fighting against it. Keep a nightmare journal, and analyze it. Think about its contents during the day in a safe environment. Mentally give yourself a hug when you need it in your childhood memories. This has impacted your development, so temper your expectations. Don’t expect to be rid of them, but know that it’s possible to control how much they impact your life today.
>>42609954You got any chronic pains? It could be too hot at night or something.Try a routine to relax yourself before sleeping. Be in a better state of mind.Or you could try to pump the gas, stay up for over 48 hours then crash and see what happens.
>>42611730This is one thing I have not tried. It deserves further investigation and I thank you.>>42611793I appreciate your answer and one big thing I take from it already is that letting myself feel helpless to it is probably ultimately just as damaging as the fact that it happens in the first place. There was that guy on /fit/ who punched ghosts kek. There’s some inspiration here for sure.>>42611824I appreciate the very direct answer and the fact that you’ve dealt with it too is encouraging for that path.>>42611957I did not know about this variant. To be clear, I have tried the psychiatric route. That’s where the prazosin came from, which was a good attempt at a fix. I met doctors who really cared and wanted to help but it didn’t really work out.I absolutely do CBT in general and I like my therapist guy. I’ve generally worked through a lot of the shit that effects waking life over the years. I am a lot more “normal” than most people who developed in similar conditions to me. Can’t find anything to touch the nightmares, though. I’ll bring this up to my guy next time we meet and see what he has to say. Thank you for the compassionate response>It has been humbling, everyone replying in earnest and trying to help. I don’t mind getting called a dumb faggot on 4chan. I expect it, even. You guys are all really cool, though.
>>42609954Depends on how much you are willing to spend
When you go to bed, try to clear your mind, get rid of your worries. Dwelling on your problems when you're trying to rest won't help. If you let those thoughts in, all you'll achieve is avoiding sleep, tossing and turning in bed without finding any solutions, and stressing yourself out, ultimately leading to nightmares. Don't stop praying. Don't smoke weed to help you sleep; it doesn't work for everyone.
>>42609954wake up
Since you already mentioned smoking weed, then my only other suggestion is to NOT sleep on your back.
>>42612112>This is one thing I have not tried. It deserves further investigation and I thank you.No problem.I would suggest you do a cleanse for Worms first, before you do a fungal parasite cleanse.Fair warning, your nightmares WILL get worse during the cleanse because the parasites will try to scare you into quitting.Good Luck.
>>42609954I prayed to Odin and he killed them, but they were some kind of external night terror entity, which I'm not sure is your problem. These just sound like overflow dreams gone wild, which means you're not listening to your subconscious or can't quiet your mind. Re-train your ability to focus, then start meditating and learning to be at peace, and it should spill over into your dreams too.
