I can relate to this situation, really, and it's a very weird one. My advice would be to first try and figure out what you'd want, if you didn't have to worry about your parents at all, and then figure out how to justify it.
Don't let their approval hold you back from anything before you even try. If you want to go out and socialize, just tell them straightforward that you want to get back in the habit of socializing and building up your social skills. If you want to stay in more, tell them you're focusing on other things for the time being. Present things in a calm, rational way as much as you can, don't outright lie about anything but don't feel the need to give any extra information. Try not to get defensive pre-emptively.
That last paragraph is a bunch of stuff that I know is easier said than done, but the main idea is: don't make your decisions based on your parents, decide how to interact with your parents after you've made your decisions.
