I recently watched “Double Blind,” an irish horror film on prime video. I didn’t expect much, but was pleasantly surprised! It featured your typical mental breakdowns and betrayals typical of the genre, but with a unique premise. There were some jumpscares, but it relied more on an impending sense of dread and suspense. The environment was claustrophobic and will elicit potentially troubling memories for anyone who’s ever been trapped in a psyche ward. (I can personally relate lol) it explored themes of pharmaceutical corruption, human experimentation, the lack of care for life in the pursuit of profit, and featured a very Noire ending, but I won’t spoil much. The gore was surprisingly good, some decent body horror and one gruesome scene involving a door! rather than a supernatural premise, the scares here relied on the deteriorating mental state of the cast, leading to hallucinations and such. One actress was particularly creepy and had some very unsettling moments, especially towards the end.all in all, I think I’d recommend it if you’ve got nothing else to watch, not the best I’ve seen recently, but serviceable.my snacks for the night were a gluten free pepperoni and beef Domino’s pizza, some la croixs, and thifty’s mint and chip ice cream. thank you for reading my blog! now to find something else to watch, the eternal quest for new horror continues!
