How did people in the past deal with Crawlers and all other sorts of nasty shit that stalks the woods and caves?
>>42659825Good question. As far as I know, all ancient cultures had an array of various folktales which serve the function of terrifying children and others of the nighttime environment especially beyond the confines and protections of the home or the village. It seems to me that cultures of the past maintain an awareness of these things, but generally wrapped them up in legend. The Navajos had their Skinwalker, the Algonquin had the Wendigo, for the Arabs and various peoples of the middle east the Ghoul and possibly Djinn as well. The Norsemen spoke of Drauger and the Gaels of Ireland of Banshees. Generally, as long as you stayed in the confines of home or the village, where others slept, you should be safe. Beyond the safety of numbers, almost all ancient cultures had a deep caution towards the greater wilderness. Lands beyond human cultivation and care. From one region to another there were places that you simply do not visit or stay for prolonged periods of time. Often time superstition accompanies such hotspots, but the idea boils down to: This place is home to something you don't understand and might or will hurt you, stay away!So it is that people in the past would have an awareness of certain otherwise normal areas that are places where humans do not belong and I would argue this is also largely protective measure against Crawler activity. Mind you, the awareness of just what the threat is isn't as important as the awareness that there is a threat. People in the days of yore would therefore often travel as groups, usually of the mind to avoid harm from other people, but also to avoid the harm of the things of the night. And further beyond that, the fact that Crawlers generally avoid groups of humans, but tend to victimize or harass individual people suggests that they do in fact fear us. The implications of this are that there has been violent contact form Humans towards Crawlers in the past. (1/2)
>>42660973Almost all ancient cultures have in some form retain a knowledge of a race of giants that once inhabited the earth. You might know them in their own folklores as Nephilim or Titans or Jotunn or whatever various names were given them. While the stories might have differences, the common thread seems to be that these giants were evil, some sort of calamity happened and that we then wiped them off the face of the earth. Some stories like various north american tribes detail these giants being forced and sealed off underground. And its been my conviction for a while now that these Crawlers (found globally but concentrated in North America) are in fact the remnant population of these giants that have been adapted to and conformed to a Subterranean/Nocturnal existence. We have known each other for a long time, they fear us and we fear them. They aren't reptilians or monkeys or whatever, they are us. Sort of. (2/2)
>>42661026I mean, if you find one in it's lair during the day, with a group of men, I assume you could burn it out, so during the day they do have a reason to fear. Just as we of them, during the night in remote areas.
>>42659825They would just hunt them down as a group using teamwork and planning. What else would humans do?

>>42659825How do you deal with watching gore videos with people getting blown away and their heads chopped off? They were desensitized to it. It wasn't just a one time thing for them, they were outside all day everyday.
