Envy, Anger, Lust enslave ur being to people, Greed enslaves it to things. Vanity makes u think u're "greater"/"greatest", defining ur being by people around u, if someone becomes better than u, u'll lose your mind. Pride "now" will kill ur being's free motion in the future, ex: if u're proud of ur math skills now, it'll prevent u from moving to something like being a chef & ditching maths forever & entering a new dimension of being a chef exclusively for some time/whole life. And, vanity & pride can simply be "hurt" by someone speaking some words to u, enslaving u to people's behavior. Being proud of urself will bind ur being to ur current state.Love is what'll set u truly free, coz God is love (1 John 4:8, 4:16) by loving ur being will enter the infinite being of God & will be "truly" free having infinite options at it's disposal. Now see the sin of "selfishness", it enslaves u to what u are at a moment (& u're finite) instead of roaming free in the infinite being of God. Love is void of ALL self-seeking, & this is the point where the Buddha failed. Buddha had the freedom that comes by denying other sins but not the sin of "self-seeking" & so not entering the realm of agape love he denied that there's a God! He rejected sins only because they did "him" good, making him a being that lived in a vast cage that's like 1000s of times vast than others but couldn't enter the infinite realm of God, & people seeing the Buddha as a being way vast than themselves bowed down to him & his teaching.Love requires fully forgetting the self & doing what others wants at times (like giving up ur desire to eat Italian food coz ur friend wants Chinese food), but if u give up ur will for a flawed human at all times, you'd just end up destroying u and others by it. Since love involves giving up ur will anyway, if u always give up ur will for God's, u'll always love everyone because God is Himself love. So, by obeying God u'll stay in the realm of love & u'll be truly/purely free.
