There's literally only 2 possibilies and I think the latter is most likely.1. Technology advanced and photography, to the point where most of mythical was proven to be delusions or fake. In the past no one could prove things like cryptids or spirits weren't fake.2. The spiritual world is still real but its been greatly restricted and cut off. We are now in a more material age and so somehow their activity is very limited.

This could be because belief is necessary to power it and proof would nullify that belief. When Christianity spread to Europe, it told people that anything that wasn't Jesus was evil and demonic. Ancestral beliefs? Bad. Local nature spirits? Bad. Later on, the Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution drove that wedge even further. Science? Good. Slaving away in a factory? Good. Anything beyond that and our brain starts to struggle to even remember who they are, even if we've met them before. Humans can manage to live in larger groups, but at that point we start needing strict laws to maintain order. We weren't designed to live in large cities full of hundreds of thousands or millions of people. We're not ant colonies, but industrialism has tried to turn us into exactly that.

Everyone then knew about the power of the spirit because we had gods living with us in the temples and their priests and priestesses. Because there were 'gods' to take care of things like the harvest and the weather, people didn't work on their own internal spirituality, they would go to the temples and donate to purchase the services they wanted from someone who was better at it than they were.There isn't anything keeping you from remembering your these things either, you can go into a lucid dream state or go on a vision quest and pierce the veil to recover exactly the level of spirituality that you reached before in your past lives and pick up where you left off.Before you say something not being able to remember, tell me this, what were you doing last week? What about last month? what about 13 years ago? I bet you hardly remember or care about what you even did yesterday. Past lives are just like this, except they are hundreds and thousands of years ago.

The more focused on the physical the less access you have to the light of creation. Sometimes the earth itself shits all over you and depression cuts off that light even if you don't have a focus on the physical.
