Biblical canon was decided by flawed humans 100s or even 1000s of years after the events. One needs to read the apocrypha and other religions' texts. Islam for instance has several stories about Jesus ("Isa" to them) that Christianity doesn't, there's texts that talk in far more detail about the pre-flood world and the coming End Times.Humans have had too much influence on scripture, which is why it's important to read widely.
