I've spent most of my life as an agnostic with a vague belief in philosophical idealism. I wouldn't quite go as far as pure solipsism, but I do believe that conscious experience is the fundamental foundation of all reality. I haven't read any mystical or esoteric works, though, and I was wondering what direction you guys would point me toward.

Atlantis is important to esoteric thought. Then read the Corpus Hermeticum. Then Plotinus. And as others said the Bible, but not just the bible, Enoch and the Apocryphon of John. You can also read The Gathas and Prometheus Bound. That should give you the basics of western esoteric thought.From there there's tons of directions to go and things to read. You could also go to the east and read Hindu and Buddhist texts.
