I tried this on /mu, but didn’t get very far, so I figured I’d try my luck here. I’ve been exploring lots of music recently since getting a nice pair of new headphones. I’m coming to find I thoroughly enjoy music that has a clear occult/esoteric/hermetic influence to it. Rather it be sort of evil (i love sinister sounding things, trap and drill are guilty pleasures of mine) or higher vibrational such as picrel or certain types of classical or jazz. Some other good examples of albums that are clearly steeped in magic are Led Zeppelin IV, Crystal Castles (II), Exmilitary, and a good amount of Bowie’s work. Please give me some more recs of anything with mystical influence, I like almost any genre, only kind of stuff I think I can’t really get into is black metal or anything that’s really screamo or sonically grating.

there are literal incantations and rituals on albums by the band Wire and no one ever mentions it

Really, I've only listened to Pink Flag. But they're pretty cool. Tell me more.

This is on the money. There’s definitely something infused to this. Thank you. Has an interesting rabbit hole built into it as well.

Actually never heard of Wire, I’m actually checking out Pink Flag now and my mind is being blown, this is amazing. This does feel magical.1977 has to be my personal favorite year for music of all time.(1969 is close). I’m for sure going to be exploring the rest of their work too, thank you.

Thank you as well. I was gonna dive further into him with his self-titled because I’ve heard good things about it, but Africa Brasil is great too, I probably wouldn’t have checked it out without the rec.

Therion actually isn’t one I was super familiar with, but YES. Thank you for showing me this, it’s actually beautiful, haven’t explored much metal outside of Sabbath, Pantera, and other entry level bands, it tends to miss more than hit for me but I actually like this and wouldn’t have found it on my own.
