"hinduism" doesn't exist - it's a catch all term for literally thousands if not tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of variants of belief systems that all use similar / the same symbols in their own ways. Many traditions within the dragnet of "hinduism" do not believe the self is somehow illusory, and many do not believe that the physical world is "maya" - illusion either.
