The world exists as a container to be everything I am not. If I am hyperfixated on something and actively working on it, I have removed it from the world. No one will do anything with it, they won't talk about it, and they won't seem to know about. After I've built it up and let it go, they go back to using it and will make incremental improvements and refinements. In that focused state it will appoint dedicated allies and advesaries to compete with in some limited form, to keep you engaged and motivated. I have experienced this many times.
