I debate in every NPC thread I see because I think the concept is silly. I brought this up in another thread but the behaviors that NPCs supposedly exhibit match up much more closely with the behaviors of players in games or simulated environments. Lack of awareness, no clear objective, obsessively following rules or wildly disregarding them, these are player qualities. There should also be many more players than NPCs if we’re using the game model, yet most NPC believers think they’re a special singular player in a sea of NPCs, when that’s just not what you ever experience when playing anything.And I know it’s a superiority complex thing because I feel the urge to classify people I see as below me as somehow inherently lesser or lacking an internal world. But it’s a sign of a developed mind to be able to entertain the inner worlds of others even if they don’t align with your interests or values.
