I just realized I haven't laughed in years. I only now realized this because I was watching this star trek episode where data gets the ability to laugh. I occasionally crack a smile briefly, but I remember laughing when I was younger. Hanging out with friends and laughing so hard it hurt. It's been so long I don't even remember what it feels like. Is there some type of paranormal entity haunting me or has society just had the spiritual levity sucked out of it? My friends don't laugh either any more

Do you have other emotions like do you cry?

same. I guess it's just growing older and/or not having a happy life.

Things that were once seen as comedy are now quite tragic. You can’t watch Airplane! without realizing that the world where a theater filled with strangers from all walks of life can laugh at Barbra Billingsly speaking jive doesn’t exist anymore and was much better than the shit world of social media and mass everything that we live in.
My advice would be to focus on the problem that your friends don’t laugh. Try to make them laugh. The way you treat people is the one of the only things you can really control.

I last cried 4 years ago when I went through a divorce. I haven't had anything particularly sad happen since then though

Thats why i ask. Sounds like you basically turned off your emotions subconsciously. Like psychopathy but you dont seem like a psycho definitely so you just became this automatin I'm guessing. Sounds like you need therapy mate. I actually go to therapy myself and my insurance pays for it but even if they didnt it would be free. Theres places like better help and massage parlors for free too all sorts of stuff actually i think you need to look into that but watch out for quacks make sure you get somewhere thats competent

And also my emotions are very strong and im 40 years old. I laugh cry get mad all that. As ive gotten older theyve actually gotten stronger. Meditation is really helpful as well. Try to get the tingles (AsMR) while you contrmplate things like your memories of traumatic events like divorce etc... it can make you cry and you are releasing the stress energy its called TRE

Could be apathy, it's quite common

Laughter is shadow appetite protected by rituals of continuity.
It's not a barometer of happiness.

Thats not even funny bro you gotta pretty lame sense of humor. It might be slightly funny if you said: queen to b2 or something like that. This just looks like shameless self promotion and grandstanding

Basic language just flies right over your head. When you are a psychopath your brain goes dead. Work on your empathy to create intelligence in yourself

I've researched this exact topic tirelessly.
I can help you if you like, but the pill isn't sweet.

I laugh all the time personally, come hang out in my wife’s stream sometime https://blonde.pizza the world is full of so many fake people who want to act like everything is serious and it’s infectious because you laugh and people look at you weird.
>>

Laughing is a similar orgonic experience than cumming is. Muscles are contracting. This creates pleasure.
>>
>>42746448
Elaborate on this
>>
>>42746448
I'm pretty fuckin happy when I laugh it just tends to be at others' expense, yeah.

midwit thinks an effect is the cause

Are you on antipsychotics by any chance? I started laughing my head off once I quit them (I was on that shit for 20 years)
>>

One can experience sincere laughter without being happy at all.
The two are neither synonymous, nor mutually exclusive.

So why do we so often equate them?

Freud views laughter as surplus psychic energy finding release, and we all know how good that release can feel.
But that's relief, not happiness.
Removing a rock from your shoe is relief from the pressure, not nourishment for your soul.
This is an important distinction to make because when we equate relief with happiness, we end up chasing highs rather than finding genuine fulfillment.

>>42746961
A distinction of even greater importance would be to say that you aren't even the one laughing.
Laughter is sourced in shadow, birthed from the depths of the unconscious. It happens to you.
Your chortling is merely a receipt of a transaction that has already taken place.
>>
>>42746961
>when I laugh it just tends to be at others' expense
Laughter is not food for the soul.
It's the sound our shadow makes while eating.
And misfortune is the meal.
>>
>>42746133
Laughing is a social experience
>>
This place sells you the relief from the pain it inflicts. Laughter is relief from the pain, flesh relief from the hunger, sex relief from the impulse. And media exists to exacerbate these wants. And the joy the relief from these indulgences gives has bestowed undue glory upon these acts.
>>
>>42747812
We call this bonding, and in many ways it is. But the question is: what exactly is being bonded around?
>>
>>42747764
>when we equate relief with happiness, we end up chasing highs rather than finding genuine fulfillment
We trend into Hellraiser territory when we start calling relief, pleasure.
>>
>>42747647
This checks out.
The meds prevented psychic retention and when you went off of them you produced so much at once it had nowhere to go but out.
Habitual laughter is proof of someone who is bottlenecked somewhere, and not releasing psychic energy efficiently.
>>
>>42746133
Laughter occurs in a few different ways.
And the short of it is, laughter is disruption.
It's a "violation found benign".
So if you aren't laughing, either you aren't experiencing any violations or none of them are benign to witness.
>>
>>42747812
Only to stupid normies it is. I laugh at things all the time alone. In fact the only good laughs come when you're alone. That's when you can let loose.
>>
>>42746133
>Is there some type of paranormal entity haunting me or has society just had the spiritual levity sucked out of it?
Literally how is this a society problem? It's your own fucking fault if you haven't laughed in years lol try doing it more often
>>
>>42748187
>lol try doing it more often
Do you pencil laughter in to your schedule? Do you think to yourself "time for my daily laugh" and then contract your muscles repeatedly to produce the laughter?

Or does laughter simply happen to you and is therefore actually impossible to "do it more often"?

y so serious?
