What atheists and christians are both terrified of how large the universe is. The atheist tries to quantify the world, dismisses what it cannot measure and creates a kind of approved list of what is considered "real". Your personal experiences are considered foolish superstitions unless validated by institutions. The christian makes the world small by reducing it to simple to understand dualistic narratives. Good/evil, god/satan, heaven/hell. Everything is reduced to a story, a narrative conveniently centered for the most part around humanity. Christians get defensive in response to grey areas or nuance, not just because they think it is the devil in disguise, but because the very act of not thinking in ones and zeros is existentially terrifying to them.What few understand about nihilism is that it's not the end of your spiritual journey, it is the beginning. Let go of meaning and then search. Perceive without preconception. If you feel yourself going mad, good, keep looking and don't look away.
