I am basing my understanding on my own personal experience of interaction with the beings and their equipment.
Of course I understand how ridiculous this sounds to those who don't have access to their own memories of their own interactions with the beings. This is not something that those who don't remember are able to discuss without feeling strong irrational judgment over the subject in general.. and they have a strong impulse to be quickly dismissive and irreverent towards it. They have the urge to quickly place this in the forgotten corners of their mind in which they have discarded their own memory of experiences

It's necessary to be aware that people are not going to receive the information well. I don't have absolute knowledge. I know what I was able to figure out from what I was personally seeing. There were many different forms of interaction.. many of these were difficult to discern from 'dream' but there were many that were physical material and clearly tangible to put the other dreamlike experiences into perspective. You can have your consciousness pulled out of your body to accompany them for the activities of the visit.. you can be observing the scene from within another body.. either of a human or even one of the beings or the blank bodies they use in similar manner as the movie avatar.

I saw many things over several years.
My insight is not exactly a blind guess.. but no it's not absolutely certain to be the final definitive answer.

In order to interact with the beings you have to achieve a considerable ability to perceive and engage the thoughts within your mind; not all of them are your own.

I have experience with the device that is projecting the images on the field. They literally flew one past my head in the months before I became fully conscious of my own life history of interaction with the beings. This happened in 1990 or 1991.. and then in late summer of 1991 I was suddenly burdened with my memory of my previous interactions.

I should probably write out the details and post them somewhere so I don't have to go into the details from scratch every time I try to discuss this.
My first suddenly recovered memory was of a visit by a being during the night that I had been able to remember as I woke up half the year earlier but had pushed the memory out of my conscious mind in less than two seconds of viewing the scene in my memory.
Once I was looking directly at the memory I was able to see that during the event I had remembered the previous time I had met the same being.
It had been on an American army post in Germany around a dozen years earlier. Top it off with the fact that I had been taken out of school and driven to the other side of the army post for a counselling session with an Air Force officer.. completely unexpected in a location that had only 6 air force personnel in a supply support capacity to an army Apache attack helicopter group present as support to the armor.
So I had that fully physical fully conscious memory of that strange interview with the Air Force officer.. as a sort of tangible anchor to give me certainty of the unusual memories.
Yeah I could go into detail.. I could literally write a book. Do anything to get paid in any way and the idiots will surely start to bark that the incentive is the reason for the report and then they accuse it of being fiction. I will probably die without going to the public. It's just normal stuff to me. The rest of the people who live unaware are significantly defective from my point of view.

The background matters if you really want the full answer. The beings didn't explain.. very seldom did they use clear verbal communication, they don't have to.. they can transfer cognitive imagery directly from mind to mind. In fact that first memory I mentioned included the recollection of how the same being had fished around within my mind to find the concepts and images that he would use to build a substitute memory of what I had just experienced. If the officer had specifically asked me to remember the event I would have said that some kids from really far away had held me in the treehouse behind the school and they never spoke but I was able to escape and run away.
He literally rewrote my memory of what happened.. but everything came back in my mind clearly the next time I was fully conscious while looking directly at the same little guy. I saw him so clearly standing on the corner of my waterbed that I was able to determine height and weight by the wrinkles at his feet.. I had pulled the sheets off when I jumped up as he ran into the room.

So anyway I spent several years with nearly full conscious awareness during a majority of the interactions. Based on what I saw across a wide range of activities I estimate that they are not simply doodling on the individual plants themselves.. that they are doing something far more significant that is affecting the entire planet.
Humans don't even comprehend why they would be here.. as if we are somehow in isolation away from having any impact on the universe beyond our own tiny view of it.
I saw many things that each need to be explained to make my assessment clear in the full context. The beings would occasionally show me things.. from the physics of our own existence and consciousness to the equipment that they have deployed outside of our view right here in the world we think of as our own.

I am suggesting that subtle communications that are involved in the quantum field of our existence that are barely grasped by the current public version of scientific evaluation are the basis for the physical effects we are seeing upon the crops.

The equipment being used to detect the effect of a 'particle' is in its entirety balanced upon a field value in its most fundamental physical existence. The entire scene of tangible physical material reality is that fine point of balance.. our entire relationship to reality is a function of consciousness.
The technology involved in the fields is at this level of communication. On one occasion when I was in Mississippi near the Louisiana border visiting there with a Cherokee friendand his family there.. we had been left with the kids of his sister while they went to town.. so we had them outside catching fireflies until past dark.. and to our minds there was no big deal about the street light we saw out in the woods. Parked on the bridge was a disc vehicle and the entire crew of little guys had gotten out and were standing on the road.. there were bosonic field issues with the concept of looking directly at them but I could see them well enough. I had already been seeing them for a few months and it was not a surprise. They had me go into the vehicle first.. and it had been completely shut down for the purpose.. something to do with the effects the vehicle was having on my conscious awareness.. so I went in first with one of them following closely behind me.. the cluster of the five or so crew members had a vibe of mixed emotional states caution and distrust among them.. but the one that stayed near was extremely cheerful and childlike in his attitude. My first concern was that my feet were somehow going to contaminate the floor.. with the vehicle shut off it was sponge like nerf with a glossy surface.. he had to have been eavesdropping on my thoughts because he responded immediately with a laughing attitude that " we don't have that problem " and as we entered into the main area of the vehicle and the vehicle was turrets on there was a shift in the lighting as he triggered the cleaning system of the vehicle. All of the particles of material in room that they didn't want onboard were swept into a tiny white cloud of mist in the center of the room.. and after a short pause sitting there it was pushed out of the room down a hallway of sorts. Over the years I would see several of the other areas in relation to that one.. all very irregular shape with stretchy fabric tightly pulled to divide the areas.. it's so irregular that it is difficult to get oriented.. but I learned to look at the floor to keep track of things. Also looking directly at them would usually result in the being having full control of the cognitive imagery within the mind and would end the memory for that event..

The thing is, that never made any difference. In the presence of the beings and their technology there was never any effect from the biological concerns of the moment.. just full conscious awareness with no noticeable effect of alcohol

There were several times when they showed up while things like this were going on.

Over time I got a lot of experience with seeing into their operational realms.. and the more I saw the more questions were opened.. it took years to form an understanding. Not conclusive science.. just a measure of comprehension to make sense of my own direct observations.. much more than just wisps of imagination. Often these were fully conscious physical events in the presence of other people. Usually people would have irrational ideas about what they had seen and I would try to get them to think it through.. for example a "shooting star" can not appear on the horizon with the clouds behind it blocking the upper atmosphere.. it had to be closer than the clouds and how could it turn like that?.. but even when they were abundantly obvious people who saw the clear evidence were only able to clearly talk about what they had seen for a few weeks before they became confused about it.. it had to have been a dream.. or a scene from a movie.. they were unable to look directly at the memory only a few weeks later. I was seeing the same process that had caused me to not have my own previous memories clearly in my mind as it was happening to other people.

Without going into too much detail for various reasons, I've always been connected with the military since birth. I was born on a military base (now decomissioned) and I grew up between two Air Force bases, one very nearby to where I grew up. Long story short is that my weirdness began when I was very young, with one of my parents being suspended off the ground, despondent with light in their eyes, with objects to either side of them (didn't see how they ended up this way). I tried to run, but I was intercepted and cut off, which didn't really matter because I couldn't move at that point anyway and could only make a raspy "uh" sound instead of screaming. The being that cut me off approached me rapidly and that's where that memory ends for me. I've kept a weather eye out but I've yet to see anyone describe the being I saw, with the only close account that I've seen being a hoax that didn't come out until years later. Obviously I'm much older now, but I still remember that event clearly (sometimes more clearly than my memories from being in the military) which lends me to believe that it was not just misattributed trauma or some other form of faulty memory... otherwise I'd have forgotten it.

Plenty of other weird shit here on my end too, but I still haven't quite figured out what's reliable and what isn't.

Guy that did this for him said he could get him master sgt e4 and he said I'll take it.
Suddenly the family was on short rations for a while.. but he worked his way back up through the ranks quickly and retired as LTC.
Said he would be full bird in two months if he was called back up.
I didn't even know that civilians existed until I was 8 and in 3rd grade. Thought the whole 12 grade thing would end with pfc.
My dad once made a joke.. asked if I knew what pfc stood for?.
