What is the "awareness between the thoughts"?
>>
>>42800697
>>42800697
You know how you have moments here and there where there's no internal monologue in your head and it's just silent and you look around at your immediate surroundings? Meditate and do mantras and that will happen more and last longer. That's it.

The "Three Statements that Strike the Vital Point" (tshik sum né dek) are the final testament of Garab Dorje, the first human master of the Dzogchen (Great Perfection) tradition in Tibetan Buddhism. They summarize the entire path of meditation and realization into three core instructions.

The Three Statements

Introduce directly to your own nature:
The master points out the true, pristine nature of your mind (rigpa or pure awareness) so you experience it directly for yourself.

Decide upon one thing and one thing only:
Gain a clear, unwavering certainty in this single state of recognition, leaving no room for doubt about what your true condition is.

Gain confidence directly in the liberation of rising thoughts:
Abide continuously in that state, allowing any thoughts or emotions that arise to naturally self-liberate the moment they occur without trying to block or fix them.
>>
>>42800716
What's the point of that state though? How do you benefit from a lack of mental chatter?
>>
1.7
>>
>>42800776
Samsara is literally a stream of consciousness that is continued by cause and effect (aka karma that's all karma means every action has an equal and opposite reaction)

Thought is the cause which creates the effect, eliminate the cause eliminate the effect, no more samsara.
>>
>>42800776
>How do you benefit from a lack of mental chatter?
I can think of so many ways having zero mental chatter would be beneficial that have nothing to do with spirituality or religious beliefs. Why would anyone need anti anxiety meds if they had no mental bullshit to give them anxiety?
>>
>>42801466
What are the spiritual benefits? Peace? Bliss? Oneness? Is that shit real?
>>
>>42800776
To translate from shitskinican to plain english

The constant mental chatter is "mental illness". Having streaming thoughts through your head isn't abnormal, what's abnormal is that everyone has it all the time. It's in excess.

There is no "point of that state". The point is good health and wellbeing. You're just returning to the state you're supposed to be in.

All of that is the state you're supposed to be in. Look at the wild animals. Do they seem stressed out or anxious, or are they living life content and fulfilled?

self awarensss in how thoughts arise, why they arise and how one's own experienced life affects things. states of ego death can produce this effect, in that one can suddenly see the entire line behind a thought laid bare alongside correlated emotions. people often have personal epithanies looking at their own lives from the perspective of the person they are, a collection of preconceptions and conditioned states, looking outwards from the perspective of their body, in that moment looking inwards. after understanding personally how thoughts airse, the experiencer has a self enlightened outlook on life because they are more in tune with the animal they are, and subsequently the human condition. when one can see how pointless it is to trifle with thoughts that we now freshly understand as not willed but conditioned as thoughts our ego had to protect itself growing up and maturing, that had to be produced in an attempt to understand, one can slowly unravel their prior preconceptions through their will to eventually arrive at a point of further self realization or ultimately the goal of self actualization.

What you talk of is the eternal self, and they deny self exists.

That's exactly where people fail, where people fail is in trying to find this awareness or the brahma behind this aware veil. In truth this is the utmost primitive propaganda that has been used on creatures, and it is counter-instinctive. There are definitely realms of astral, form and such but they aren't preoccupied by intellectual reasoning or material consciousness that is the summation of aggregates. They transcend them, and we cannot conceive of them by intellect because this body given to us and the brain in it are designed with the forethought,= if man grows intelligent enough and tries to access form realm via intellect - crook and fry his existence give him hell.
This manifests in the deceived creating stuff like statues and venerating them, sacred mountains or even the modern day "saturn" phenomenon where people attribute the 'source' and try to pinpoint it with the brain muscle. It's like some random nigger shoots you, and surrounding people take you to medical care, and you just refuse to take help until you knew every last bit about the shooter, does he usually try to shoot people? does he contribute to society? does he use autotune in his raps. Whatever it is.

That's the truth, the parable of the arrow.

Good for depression/anxiety - stops the downward spiral of negative thinking. Also good for chronic stress - our bodies were not designed to be constantly stimulated and on edge, but the modern world is bombarding us constantly. Being able to chill out and truly relax is beneficial for health.

>How do you benefit from a lack of mental chatter?
you're aware that neural activity consumes energy by virtue of their firing, yes?
well, when you shut all that shit off for a couple hours a day, eventually you start realizing that its not an insignificant amount
>>
>>42801818
>Look at the wild animals. Do they seem stressed out or anxious, or are they living life content and fulfilled?
wild animals have no ruminating mind
they wag their tails instead of run their brains ragged
it serves the same balancing purpose as the mental chatter
the idea is cultivate enough so that the balancing mechanism becomes less and less necessary
eventually you've built up a lot of energy that can drive longer breaths, deeper states
>>
>>42801818
>Do they seem stressed out or anxious
Yes. Ever see a bug run around? Or watch a bird eat - constantly looking around like they're in prison?
MOST animals are in constant fear for their lives, and taking steps to avoid predation. Even the apex predators are in constant hunger and spending just about every day thinking of and searching for food.
>>
>>42806199
good point
>wild animals have no ruminating mind
They do in captivity. Many intelligence animals exhibit similar strange behaviors as man when held in captivity.
>>
>>42806222
Ask me how I know you don't spend any appreciable time in nature.

Also you do realize anxiety and stress are "excess" emotions? Feelings in excess of what is normal? Being in a state of alertness is neither stressful nor anxious.

>Many intelligence animals exhibit similar strange behaviors as man when held in captivity.
the lack of ruminating mind does not mean they dont experience stress

How did you come to such an erroneous conclusion?
>anxiety and stress are "excess" emotions?
Stress is not an emotion, and anxiety only requires a constant need.
You are retarded.
>Being in a state of alertness is neither stressful nor anxious
Yes it is when it is constant.
Go ahead and try it sometime.
>>
>>42801567
The triad of knower, knowing and known disappears and in its place remains something like unchanging, indivisible, all-pervading bliss/being/stillness. The bliss isn't like how you feel joy as an emotion in the body.
>>
>>42806441
And what good is that without anyone to experience it?
>>
>>42806527
You're still there in some sense; it's just that you aren't what the mind superimposed through that triad. You find yourself as this bliss/being/stillness, and these aren't 3 separate things here.
>>
>>42806434
this thread is about cultivating awareness
you appear to be unaware that enlightenment is indeed constant awareness
but that can be expected from posters that have no spiritual training or advancement
>>
>>42806677
>You're still there in some sense
If I am experiencing, then there isnt the disappearance of knower and known.
If those disappear, then there is no experiencing what you describe comes after.
>>
>>42806687
>constant awareness
I said constant ALERTNESS.
Very dishonest of you.
And that was in response to the erroneous idea that animals are not feeling stress and anxiety in their lives.
We can get back to talking about awareness if we are done refuting and removing that bad example.
>>
>>42800697
awareness between thoughts is the ascent of physical reality in the bubble of consciousness.
>>
>>42806708
Alright I will respond.

Look man, as the previous poster said you really don't have any spiritual training, nor do you seem even remotely interested in getting any.

The state of alertness can be said to be the same state as attentive awareness, where a creature does not ruminate on its own thoughts but simply is. It simply does, is, is being in the present.

>Very dishonest of you.
Nobody finds your rhetorical wordplay convincing. Like I originally said, ask me how I know you don't spend any appreciable time in nature.
>>
>>42806708
>I said constant ALERTNESS.
well, this would be a good time for a threadly reminder that all words are abstractions
me, alert doesnt necessarily mean alarm
but that's why everyone should understand that words are abstractions
>>
>>42800697
It is the designated street.
>>
>>42806703
Even without the mind, without mental flux, without the knower, knowing and known - you still remain, just not as the knower. It isn't that you're somewhere as awareness experiencing bliss. Experiencing happens in the mind through that triad. You, as being, exist prior to the mind. Currently, rather than recognizing yourself as that being, you identify yourself as the knower within this triad. When I say being/stillness/bliss these aren't 3 divisible things. It's self-luminous and doesn't require subject-object cognition.

You make bad assumptions.
>>42806898

Awareness is not alertness.
Or they are and they are also calm and they are also panic.
So awareness is panic.
Or we can go back to words having meaning, and not confusing constant awareness for constant alertness, and not bring up alarm at all.
Because that would be dishonest.

it requires diligence and perchance it happens by accident, it will be but one fleeting moment that is highly unlikely to return
>>
>>42808972
thought is incompatible with samahdi
the reason is that they both consume the same root energy
so if you start using this energy for thought, then there isnt any available for samahdi
nirvana is basically persistent samahdi

What's the "highest state" you've experienced and maintained? Can you explain how to reach it in simple words and what it feels like?

Also, why the FUCK do I keep getting forced into lower states lol.
>>
>>42809656
>What's the "highest state" you've experienced and maintained? Can you explain how to reach it in simple words and what it feels like?
unfortunately the last thread where I answered this explicitly, was pruned or deleted
making the spiritual light arise has a few components
the body must be conditioned to exist in this state, otherwise in the extremely unlikely chance that one manifests it without high conditioning, the state is but momentary and pretty much immediately disappears
the first time anyone manifests this, one should expect it to immediately disappear because of how startling it is, especially when it is unexpected
my first time, I almost leaped from my seat and yelled out of sheer joy and amazement, instantly destroying the light that had arisen
of course I had no idea it was coming, at that time all I knew was to just keep practicing and not pay attention to the scenery
it wasnt until the 3rd or 4th time it manifested that I was able to make it stay longer than a few seconds
it was a month, month and a half in between the first and second time it arose
eventually I was able to make it manifest like clockwork every day - entirely dependent on my level of meditative conditioning
the old tales are true, when it begins to return readily like this, it is welcomed like an old friend, with warmth and joy, but not so much that it startles you
the light leaps out of long chains of uninterrupted awareness, so this is why awareness cultivation is very important
unfortunately, chains of neurological happenings serve to build up this remainder of energy, which is resolved by the production of a random thought
thoughts and the spiritual light draw from the same pool, so thinking precludes the spiritual light from manifesting
this is why you restrain the senses, which form the basis for that energy remainder
highly refined sense withdrawal = little to no contribution to growing this energy remainder
>>
>>42809656
if the spiritual light is arisen, the production of a random thought, will destroy the light and its gone
it does not come back readily, not in that day
this is why rigor in meditative training is required
this is why breathwork and restraining the senses are the most direct way to make this manifest
lowering inefficiencies, a bit of additional energy is harvested and stored every day
the greater the energy that amasses, the longer breaths you will be able to take
longer breaths, quieter and quieter
restraining the senses is a yang activity that results in yin
the yin manifestation is the great stillness where virtually all phenomena drop away from perception
but keep going until yin once again transforms into yang, this is the arising of the spiritual light
with practice, one learns to catch and hold the light
that is, understand how to deal with its arising so that it stays
it stays for one moment, with the caveat that one can make this moment last as long as his attention can remain fixed
when one's focus is at the midbrain and these things arise, this is the bright all encompassing light
but earlier in training, if the focus is in the gut, the light is more diffuse down there
train the gut until this takes place, then move the focus to the midbrain
these things come long after breath refinement & mastery
the air becomes as a sweet sparkly liquid, reminiscent of amniotic fluid
air is a fluid after all
the resultant energy bath is highly restorative, the body comes to crave it like food each night
this description is a bit all over the place, eventually I'll get it more logically sorted
>>
>>42809788
>unfortunately the last thread where I answered this explicitly, was pruned or deleted
You can find it through 4plebs. What were some key words you used and when did you post it? I might be able to find it.

It sounds like what you're doing it "stepping away" from your senses and preventing that energy/focus from being spent on wandering thoughts. Is that correct?
>>
>>42809838
pruned or deleted means its gone, fren, those dont hit the archive.
same as when they move something to /bant/ that doesnt hit the archive
>It sounds like what you're doing it "stepping away" from your senses and preventing that energy/focus from being spent on wandering thoughts.
it is a deliberate refinement with the explicit intention of stopping the chains of neurological outflows that take place from the processing of sense information
when you sniff at the air, the air flows across the olfactory nerve endings and generates signals that go to the midbrain for processing
same for other senses, the cranial nerves all feed the system
breath is the obvious focus since its the loudest ongoing bodily function that we have some control over
by refining the breath until the olfactory nerve is not roused by respiration, we cease the generation of the sense potentials
I directly tell people that the energy remainder from inefficient sense processing feeds this imbalance between conscious and subconscious processing rates
when the energy builds up to a sufficient degree, it attains the threshold potential value to jump up into the cerebrum and manifest a random thought, which balances the energy by consuming it via the generation of the thought
this is so, because when the senses are restrained and the remainder is kept low, never reaching the threshold value, the mind pretty much ceases to ruminate, it does not randomly generate thoughts
many masters have said this stage is impossible, but I can personally assure you that it is possible and they just didnt get there and never heard of anyone getting there
so the focus is not on not-thinking, but rather, just keeping the awareness
>>
>>42809838
interestingly, with a lot of experience I was able to detect perturbations in the energy-dynamic of the midbrain that would precede a random thought happening
my analogy for this is having a partially inflated balloon in hand - squeezing it makes a bubble pop out the side - if the threshold value was reached, the bubble would then detach from the formerly coherent energystructure in the midbrain, float away like a bubble of carbonation in a glass of beer, and a random thought was imminently happening
the energy-dynamic in the midbrain has some sort of shape, which becomes more coherent as this cultivation matures
when the awareness falters, the coherence of this energystructure lessens and allows for portions of it to disassociate from the central structure, as in the balloon analogy
my tech for conquering this phase was taken from the secret of the golden flower - returning the light to its source
you can imagine a movie of the sun with its rays radiating outward...just play that movie backward for the tech
the light returns to the midbrain's energydynamic, fortifying the shape and coherence of the energystructure there
in this way its like relaxing the hand that holds that partially inflated balloon, the bubble off the side ceases and returns to the main structure
few will put in the work required to reach these stages, but I feel that explaining my experiences can potentially help inspire some others to train diligently enough
anyway, make no mistake, there is a level of training required to be able to manifest any of this
when the training is rigorous and solid, it sets the stage for these things to recur like clockwork, and I fully believe this forms the basis for the ongoing enlightenment experience
when the training is not rigorous, the probability remains low, though its still momentarily possible, it wont be able to be held on to very long, and it will take a very long time for the probability to be high enough to consider the conditions arranged
>>
>>42800697
point your index finger out.. now imagine inverting that finger inside out, pointing towards yourself.

this is the stupid mental gymnastic they are trying to make here.
they are trying to make you aware of awareness.
its just pure awareness without content.
they think this is too hard to grasp.
by "they", i mean single digit indians.

just sit still. when calm, some thoughts come. there is a phase between two thoughts where there are no thoughts.. now in this phase, there could be emptiness or it could be tainted, by sensations, for example.. if all else is cleared and its truly empty, what is "occurring" is awareness shining its light of awareness (doing its own thing), without being observable.
you can not observe observation (thats a larp).
and they want you to catch that.

it is only caught in that period, because otherwise, it is always reflected against something, a sensation, a thought, thus you aware that you are aware.
can you however be aware that you are always aware, regardless of the content of awareness?
or the things "awareness" touches?

for example, do you know that even in deep sleep or coma, you are aware? its just pure awareness with the lack of content. awareness, pure light, shining, but the rays of which not hitting anything.

its like in space. complete darkness, even though sun rays travel through space. if there was no planet to reflect it, it would seem completely dark.

there is complete darkness in you. that darkness, that abyss, however is heaven. it is pure, undifferentiated light. they call that "God".
it is fundamental and is the basis for matter. matter is projected out of that thing.
this is why material reality is linked to mental processes, thinking/perceiving/focusing attention all interact with reality.
all "miracles" are done mentally.
most people are broken mentally, not clean, not regenerated enough, to shake the foundations of reality through thought.
>>
fuck
>>
>>42801567
yes; put in a way that doesn't reduce these to mental states, because the point is going beyond simply cultivating mental states:

peace: the open space of mind that is receptive to whatever appears, no matter whether you associate it with positive or negative valence. That open receptivity is recognizable as ease, even across states of intensity and effort. Even in states of pain, anger, sadness, and so on. This is not equivalent to a flat affect or even keel. That would be a maintained state.

bliss: the ongoing perturbation of sensations, especially in the body, is bliss. It's really that simple. It's happening already. The more you relax the unnecessary effort you put into constantly pattern-matching all sensory phenomena, creating concept after concept, and the less you fight your basically receptive, spacious nature, the more of this subtle sensation becomes apparent. Not apparent *to you,* simply apparent in and of itself. Sensation in this way is self-recognized, and requires so observer or point of attention. Although those activities remain available. Which is why you can describe it to someone.

oneness: yes, this is real; you may be thinking of oneness between people, oneness cosmically, oneness of all perceptions. This in the most immediate sense can be equated to the presence which is intrinsic to undifferentiated sense fields, prior to thought. People call this presence all sort of mystical names... you can simply come to know it as it is.

>pruned or deleted means its gone, fren, those dont hit the archive.
I've noticed some revealing threads get outright deleted. Is there a purposeful effort to retard the dissemination of wisdom on this board?

It sounds to me that what enlightenment means is not any individual knowledge but rather the movement towards self mastery. I guess that makes sense but no one has really set it into words for me, or when they do they have a specific "stage" in mind.

Were there any specific methods that led you to this awareness or was it simple self observation over time and events? It's a bit of a loaded question because there are many paths to wisdom.

Is there even a standard to define the stages of awareness and mastery a man has acquired? Throughout my life the general trend has been "just climb" with few checkpoints to witness the height reached. The states I've reached are a little past the Tao/Alan Watts Zen Buddhism, but I've seen no literature or talk of stages beyond that. Some people mentioned these stages as you have in this thread and in that link "suttacentral" and that stuff just bewilders: "going beyond perceptions and form", "beyond the infinite dimension of space" sounds pretty far out there man.
>>
>>42809965
So basically just forgetting all abstract attachments. It's a process of forgetting/letting go.
>>
>>42809965
>all "miracles" are done mentally.

>>
I find it so hard to retain mindfulness.
I have never reached "enlightenment" or satori or a kundali awakening or whatever through any sober means, but I have 100% glimpsed it a half dozen times on various psychedelic drugs. Most recently a couple days ago when I combined mescaline, mushrooms, syrian rue, and dmt. I felt myself completely dissolve, and I feel like I've retained so much, I only hope to keep holding onto it and not fall back into my own traps again. any advice? I'm already taking a break from the drugs. It's so hard to break these bad mental habits in general, that I've built up over the years.
>>
>>42810114
At your stage what you need is a "breakthrough", a moment which breaks your normal cognitive state and makes you malleable. In that malleability, you can use what wisdom you've acquired the greater understand yourself and the world and to also become familiar with that malleable state, knowing it as a more fundamental state of your existence than you've experienced before.

Once you get it you can't forget it, like the above poster mentioned with his heightened state of awareness and energy movement. He had it once, then he knew it was possible, and can seek it again along a similar path.

You need to 100% drop all drug use because mental consistency and clarity is necessary for higher wisdom. You can still toke here and there but know eventually you're going to put it all down. I used to do drugs to get those heightened moments but now I have serious inhibitions about using any; it just gets me out of the groove.

Do what your heart most desires, go where your soul leads you. God will give you opportunities and chances to have this breakthrough in ways you do not expect, but it always comes from that earnestness and honesty which is necessary for all wisdom. If everyone tells you your plans are foolish yet within your heart you know it is right, that is what is good and wise to do.

thanks. The prettiest, most dazzling lights are the most hypnotic. It's so easy to chase hedonism under the guise of enlightenment and rationalize it when doing psychs. Most my life I've been known as the "drug guy" so it's almost frightening to drop the identity and really figure out who I am. Honestly, I DO feel happy I did alot of those drugs because they've led me on this path in life, but I got an overwhelming sense of finality this past trip. I really want to make it stick and begin to cultivate my mind-garden with good habits. appreciate it.

>>42810554
Drugs are a common way to break out of the socially applied mold, it's how a lot of people get a glimpse of there being something greater and it's what hinted me as well.

Consider it like training wheels. Served a purpose, but once you learn balance the wheels are a hindrance.

one thing, few talk about here is surrender. i dont mean in the traditional sense, like in war.

say if you fall in a river. you dont fight the current, like you dont swim against it. you would die. instead you have to use the current, then bend it to your will. use the energy of the current against it, although against is the wrong word. so swim with the current, then use that momentum to get to shore.

to gain control, you need to release control. again, more paradoxes. i realize that by saying this, alot of people will get hung up on the word surrender. but its the most commonly used word.

If you're sincerely interested in learning more about this topic, then you should seek out a genuine Dzogchen teacher.

Don't listen to retards on here.

The practice is extremely subtle, and if it isn't explained to you properly you could have serious flaws in your understanding.

Some of the concepts people are discussing in this thread like "rigpa" aren't meant to be explained to regular normies in a 4chan post.

You could start by watching some publicly available videos on youtube by Namkhai Norbu, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, Lama Lena, James Low.

But ultimately you should seek out a teacher you can actually ask questions to.

I know what you mean. The not fighting the current I understand but the bending of the current, not yet.

its important for you to understand that accelerants burn off some of what which needs to amass in order for breakthroughs to happen

>I've noticed some revealing threads get outright deleted. Is there a purposeful effort to retard the dissemination of wisdom on this board?
per my experience, some jannies, yep.
all? no.
>Were there any specific methods that led you to this awareness or was it simple self observation over time and events?
at root it is simple mastery of anapanasati
refine anapana, cultivate sati
eventually there's very little anapana to be done and its mostly sati
I learned these things and endeavored to bring them as far towards their logical conclusions as I could
but I didnt know about the light, never sought it - it just arose naturally out of this cultivation of awareness
it was somewhat like when a friend was cleaning his guns and his son who was like 1 and a half or 2 at the time came crawling in to the room, his eyes lit up when he saw this wonderful collection laid out, as if he already knew what they were
>>
>>42810651
>Some of the concepts people are discussing in this thread like "rigpa" aren't meant to be explained to regular normies in a 4chan post.
its one reason I avoid using the foreign terms for these things and just speak directly about my experience
for one, it invites people like you to come and tell me I'm not using that particular word properly, or their master told them something different

None of those teachers I mentioned are Indian.

The Dzogchen tradition originated in Tibet. It is a branch of Tibetan Buddhism.

Also, there is no washing of feet of a guru to attain wisdom. Traditionally, the ultimate secret knowledge of Dzogchen is revealed straight away, with no preliminary practices required.

You do not have to toil for years to receive the "high level" teachings.

Also, Dzogchen meditation isn't simply "stopping thinking". This is why searching out a teacher is important so they can explain the subtleties.
>>
>>42810651
agreed that you should actually work directly with a Dzogchen teacher. But the secrecy around Dzogchen is a product of the Tibetan monastic institutions, which coopted the naturalistic practices forest and villager yogis traded with each other openly when Dzogchen first arose.

"space between the thoughts" is a false path promoted by a false guru. It appears no where is hindu scriptures.
If you want to percieve space between your thoughts, try eating 40% of your regular caloric intake for a few weeks, and your thoughts will thin out.
This is not an enlightened state, it just shows that glucose is needed for your brain to function.
>>

>The Dzogchen tradition originated in Tibet.

>Dzogchen arose in the era of the first dissemination of Buddhism in Tibet (7th to 9th centuries CE) during the Tibetan Empire and continued during the Era of Fragmentation (9th to 11th centuries). American Tibetologist David Germano argues that Dzogchen is likely a Tibetan Buddhist development.[3][4] However, numerous ideas key to Dzogchen (like emptiness and luminosity) can be found in Indian sources, like the Buddhist tantras, buddha-nature literature and other Mahāyāna sources like the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra.[5][6] Furthermore, scholars like Sam van Schaik see Dzogchen as having arisen out of tantric Buddhist completion stage practices.[4]

>The earliest Dzogchen sources appeared in the first half of the 9th century, with a series of short texts attributed to Indian saints.[5][7] The most of important of these are the "Eighteen Great Scriptures", which are today known as the "Mind Series" (Semdé) and are attributed to Indian masters like Śrī Siṅgha, Vairotsana and Vimalamitra.[5][8] The later Semdé compilation tantra titled the All-Creating King (Kunjed Gyalpo, kun byed rgyal po) is one of the most important and widely quoted of all Dzogchen scriptures

I'm interested to know what you consider an accellerant. I'm also not trying to speedrun enlightenment, and that mentality is antithetical towards that path. I don't think that my drug experiences gave me a shortcut or anything. Just helped me gain awareness to see how I could "enter the stream".

If samadhi is referring to the taste of the aspect of ones existence that is beyond time and space, I don't think that's that hard to achieve. Takes a year a serious practice at most imo.
>>
>>42800716
I don't meditate or do mantras because I am not a (complete) faggot but I do get what you are saying.
>>
>>42810736

if i may make a suggestion. if not, please ignore.

a good way to begin this, i know its basic, is the kybalion. one of hermetic laws, is rhythm. this applies in many ways. if you understand the nature of something, and understand its rhythm, you could then use its natural rhythms of waxing and waning, where a tiny nudge at the right place, at the right time, could create a ripple effect.

one simple experiment, is ones own emotions. journal if you have to, or observe yourself. but eventually, if you let nature run its course, a pattern appears. in simple terms, it could be us feeling up, then down. its periodicity might become predictable. therefore, you could lessen the wave, by being mindful during the downtimes. change. by flattening the curve, using natural rhythms, one can use a typically "bad force" for good. i know im stretching and leaving out parts, but i think you see what im getting at.

see it as a sine wave. you wanna reduce the amplitude. mystics call it, riding the serpent, when you are not aware and your emotions and rhythms control you.
>>
>>42812910

inevitable next question. "doesnt that mean i lessen the uptimes as well". yes, but the fake highs. once you learn to flatten the curve, you then raise the baseline. you keep it up high enough, that you STAY in the up. not continually swinging back and forth.
>>
>>42800697
Me
>>
>>42810736

question yourself about these things. ponder it. read other stuff. let a bit of time go by, and re read the kybalion. attempt the experiments.

oh wow, i skipped over this earlier. this person is very advanced at breathwork. much more advanced than i am. perineum synchronization with breathwork is important as olfactoryanon said, but while skimming through it, i didnt see anything about the tongue. arguably, the other end of the "device" he is manipulating. its not a big secret or anything. you simply touch the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth, during the exercises. sometimes continually sometimes intermittently. this allows the energy you are cultivating to complete the full loop. up the base to the brain, then back down, to continue.

once you begin to get this, you will feel incredible sensations of like the actual energy travelling up the spine, and bathing the brain, specifically the area around the pineal gland. my two cents. again, when reading olfactoryanon its clear hes way ahead of me. so i could have misunderstood or be flat wrong. but its constantly mentioned in "chinese alchemy", and advanced yoga, etc. just wanted to mention incase people are interested.

>If samadhi is referring to the taste of the aspect of ones existence that is beyond time and space
the passage of time is not experienced while in samahdi
but that sentence is written in such a weird way I practically dont even want to write a response to it
>I don't think that's that hard to achieve.
it sounds like we are talking about different things if you think this

it took me a year and a half, but a lot of that first year was troubleshooting my body

you'll find that most substances temporarily give you the impression that you're more energetic or whatever, only to drop beneath the baseline afterward

pleased to meet you, my man, if you are olfactoryanon. no offence meant, but this is 4chinz. and no, not asking you to prove anything. just giving credit, where it may be due.

also, if its the vagus nerve you are after, wim hoff has a lot to say about that. i know the internet turned him into a gimmick, but imho he is legit. hes put his money where his mouth is, and was studied by research facilities and universities. he has proven, that he can stimulate the vagus nerve, for different outcomes and applications. its fascinating.

>>
>>42814903
thanks fren
just be careful with wim hof's shit
extended severe cold immersions can damage the kidneys/adrenals
cold showers are fine though
he more or less accidentally discovered tummo, which is part of the six yogas of naropa - basically the only real difference is the breath hold empty vs full lungs
far as I know he does not emphasize stillness enough, which should be the balancing component of any active system of practices
generally I do not teach much of any active methods here and just teach foundational stillness, which should well compliment any active style
>>
>>42815040

oh, agreed with what you said. but, all im saying is, his work stimulating the vagus nerve, is fascinating. aside from whatever method he chooses to use. thats all im saying.
>>
>>42815040
>>far as I know he does not emphasize stillness enough
this is how i know you know what you are talking about because i maintain that 5 minutes of quiet sitting and breathing before or after doing a wim hof is necessary for its effects
>>
>>42815481

i agree with what youre saying. i just didnt want to make a fuss. if you read wims books, he goes into depth. otherwise, most people just know the gimmicky iceman.
>>
>>42815481
before prep is important too
after...personally I recommend at least the amount of time spent doing the active exercise itself
some teachers I used to know years back...they would literally cut a student off if they werent doing the stillness enough
>>
>>42813687
>sentence is written in such a weird way

Samadhi is beyond what human language can capture fully it would be a waste of words to respond

>sounds like we are talking about different things if you think this

It's not that hard to achieve bro and if you start saying things like "only 0.00002% of meditators can achieve this state look how special and enlightened I am" I doubt you are on the right path

>Took me a year and a half to achieve something only 0.00002% of meditators can achieve

What I'm hearing is that you pulled that statistic out of your ass. Something that is achievable in a year is not that special and you aren't that special, and neither am I that special. Even "I" is just a temporary aggregation of sense consciousness. Get over yourself. Your ego is an obstacle to moksha.
>>
>>42800697
it's the consciousness.
next
>>
>>42813687

this is why i always claim or write off that METTA is actually the most important practice because its easy to say "oh experienced such and such jhana and such and such mental acheivement" but its much harder to fake or call bluff on being a genuinely good and nice person.
>>
>>42816311
People who are enlightened don't have to say they are enlightened; the spiritual fruits take hold and their outer conduct reflects it. Retards who go around bragging how enlightened they are and achieve a state that only 0.00002% can achieve or w/e are just another cult leader or billionaire wannabe with a stick up their ass labelled "I'm spiritual"
>>
>>42816704
Sometimes they really do have it, devadatta left the sangha because he acheived some superpowers of mind. its perfectly fine to claim enlightenment if you are but people can tell if its true or not.
>>
>>42816772
Correction: the books say he did, but we don't actually know. You can think he did, but you can't prove it. And if superpowers were the metric for enlightenment, why don't we have videos of people or monks or gurus demonstrating these powers?
>>
>>42804466
basically, asking yourself why something came into your mind.
>>
>>42800697
i know me
>>
>>42816801
>if superpowers were the metric for enlightenment
Are you stupid? I just said devadatta left the sangha on the account of developing superpowers.
>>
>>42816809
And what is the proof that devadatta had superpowers, are these superpowers in the room with us, retard?
>>
>>42816813
I think the fact that he would feel bold enough to leave the sangha on account of them is pretty good evidence of such.
>>
>>42816827
Or maybe the sangha expelled him because he was a retard who claimed to have superpowers or tried to use it to claim enlightenment?
>>
>>42800716
> You know how you have moments here and there where there's no internal monologue in your head and it's just silent and you look around at your immediate surroundings
Why does this only happen to me when im recording myself? Everytime im bombarded with thoughts 24/7 i even have to play something in the background to help me sleep but as soon as i hit the record button, silence
>>
>>42816833
He left voluntarily and was not expelled.
>>
>>42816953
That's literally what someone who got expelled would say
