Welcome to Energy Cultivation General! here we discuss the theory/practice of energy cultivation where we help guide and help each other to higher planes of being

>What is this energy you speak of?
Qi, ki, aether, orgone, archeus, etheric energy, vital life-essence, prana, chi, mana, vital energy, Vril, life force, Nen and quintessence
(Or whatever you call it.)
Is the forgotten (not so forgotten) Energy which radiates within every life form. small or big, "weak and strong".

>Why cultivate it
Improved... Physical/joint Health, Mental health, Spiritual health/development, Mental clarity, perception, creativity, mood, companion, strength/mobility, etc

>Ok I'm sold, where do I start
(research extensively on each subject, (take a look at the /ECG/ library for other books and subjects) then practice the one you resonate with the most (doing multiple cultivation practices at the same time is not advised))

These are all legit and helpful sources verified by me another multiple other people, just remember everyone is different, what worked for you wont work for others thats why there is a range of methods to use.
You should expect to see notable results (and not just "I felt a tingle up my ass" as in you will be energised and be able to clearly define your energy) around 2-3 weeks in, keep going for a couple months there wont be a doubt in your mind, if you ------>continuously/constantly<----- do the methods linked in the sources.

IF you are New New I unironically recommend N.E.W energy ways and embryonic breathing, the results are the quickest

Because I bumped the thread (this in particular https://archive.4plebs.org/x/thread/42646163/#42668578). They banned me because they said I was ban dogging; 2 things.
1. When I posted that I wasn't banned at all
2. I was only banned of another board for 1 day, just that one board

Ridiculous; I thought they was exaggerating when they said that they would just delete every one of these threads.

There are 3 pillars
Sr or better said celibacy, is 1 of the pillars which the other pillars depend on

>1 conversation
This is just the conversation of Sexual essence.
This is just stopping the loss of energy during sexual intercourse which just excites the brain at the expense of your heath/Qi (If you are sick do not engage in sexual activity (NO Gooning) if you want a fast recovery and if you are in deep sickness don't do it for 6 months)
Or just celibacy

>2 Restoration
This is the restoration of lost energy
This is just correcting your diet, curving your desires, calming the emotions and keeping the body-mind-sprit in the mid way avoiding extremes

>3 Transmutation
This is the transmutation to vital energy (Or Qi 氣)
transmutation occurs in this stillness of body and mind during pranayama

100 days is usually enough time required to transform the sexual essence into subtle form and to fully awaken your Qi

So I could've probably baked.
It might be weird though if I do. I'm more focused on chakras and kundalini.
On that note does anyone know what the "11 gates in the body" are in the Katha Upanishad? I imagine it's referring to the longevity process but if you include minor chakras there are a lot more than 11, and if you don't, people focus on 7.

Welcome back. I've been practicing the exercises in Robert Bruce's New Energy Ways for 2 months without feeling any of but haven't felt any energy sensations. What am I doing wrong?
>>
>>42829913
sorry for the late response. I had to read his work, its my first time actually reading it.
Though I don't agree with some of the practices i know what he is more or less doing.

So 2 things:
1. It could just be the case that you are just working without much fuel. If this is the case I would just suggest that you either adopt like the natural breathing one I post, YMAA EB or just whatever works.
2. Maybe you haven't mastered the foundations? I wouldn't know as you haven't told us much. So maybe get back to the basics

But other than that I would just suggest you that you should more or less just focus on cultivating your Xia Dantian as a beginner, through breathing methods and mindfulness, I think this is a good place to start focusing instead of just playing around with your QI willy nilly.
I will repost lvl 1 here

(1) NATURAL BREATHING (WITH THE ABDOMEN) (1)

1. Relax your body.
2. Close your eyes and look at the tip of the nose.
3. Stop all thoughts in your mind.
4. Concentrate your mind to 'see' inside the dan-tien center.
5. Inhale slowly (6 seconds) directly into the ocean of chi while expanding the abdomen.
6. Relax the abdomen exhaling slowly 6 seconds.
7. Repeat this exercise a minimum of 10 minutes if other methods will be exercised simultaneously, 20 minutes if not.
>>
>>42829985
(2) CONTROLLED BREATHING (2)

1. Inhale 50% into the ocean of chi while expanding the abdomen.
2. Hold the breath for three heartbeats.
3. Inhale the remaining 50% without exhalation.
4. Hold the breath for five heartbeats.
5. Relax and exhale slowly.
6. Repeat for minimum of 10 minutes.
>>
>>42829988
A small note:
This exercise is a method is also a method of which ancient Taoists practiced holding the breath to make sure it passed through the entire body from the nose and mouth to the ten fingers. This began with an apprenticeship and holding the breath from three to twelve counts and was known as a small series (hsiao tung); one hundred twenty counts was a large series (da tung); from the large series one was able to cure himself and treat his at around 300 counts "the eyes no longer see, the ears no longer hear, the heart no longer thinks", exhalation is then little by little to avoid decompression. When able to hold the breath a count of one thousand, one is near to attaining immortality. illnesses through breathing.
Though I will never advocate for this ancient method and believe it to have serious disadvantage when not exercised properly. A master should be consulted when practicing the large series of holding the breath. However, if controlled breathing is practiced it will serve to regulate the breath and cultivate the postnatal Qi energy.

>this and the next one are going to get more advanced
(3) ANUS CONTROL AND BREATHING (3)
1. Push the anus forward and upward to the navel, relax and push the anus backwards and upwards toward ming men (without regulating the breath).
2. Inhale slowly, expanding the abdomen and simultaneously pushing the anus toward the navel. Without relaxing, exhale slowly pushing the anus toward ming men. 72 times. Repeat
3. The eyes should be closed to keep the spirit from wandering outside and the mind concentrating on the lower abdomen. At no time should the middle channel be exercised this way.
>>
File: MCo.png (148 KB, 557x778)
148 KB PNG
>>42829993
A small note:
The anus serves an important function in qigong (this is just the truth, any serious cultivator knows this).
A crude analogy is tying a knot in a balloon to keep the air inside. Being able to control the anus will keep the internal organs tight, and that is the secret to obtaining abdominal power and prolonging life. Indian Yoga practice emphasizes the anus, believing that anus strength will prolong a dying man's life by several days.
Also to expand on the last step
Do not push the anus upward toward the Chung Mai channel, to do so may cause headaches. The procedure for opening the middle (chung) channel (mai) is given in, level three, but that will be a long time from now and in the mean time you should focus on the fundamentals
>>
File: M 4.png (17 KB, 311x443)
17 KB PNG
(4) DANTIEN BREATHING (4)

1. Inhale 50% expanding the abdomen (A) then stop the breath.
2. Quickly and simultaneously push the abdominal muscles forward and out(B) and the anus forward and upwards (B).
3. The breath, abdominal muscles, and anus should be concentrated toward the navel. The eyes are closed.

I don't think the instructions are clear enough so here is this:
Inhale 50% expanding the abdomen, stop the breath, and with a quick simultaneous action push the abdomen muscles forward and outward, and push the anus forward and upward toward the navel. Hold this posture for three heartbeats then relax, and exhale slowly from the abdomen. After the 50% inhalation and expansion, the simultaneous actions of pushing the abdominal muscles and the forward upward contraction of the anus should serve to compress the air into the ocean of chi. You should repeat this exercise 18 times a day, minimum, 81 times max.

If you cant do this rn no stress just do the beginning exercise.

Also that onlyfacanon guys practice is pretty good, I vouch

The foundational work he mentions is probably breath refinement where you make it long, slow, soft, deep.
It is detailed here: >>42831062

Personally, I can gurantee that you will definitely feel some energetic stuff. I once had an experience where my awareness was floating at my head, with no sensation of my body.

neidan is the most difficult to understand and practice, with the most potential pitfalls, but with very high potential
only the most serious and dedicated should undertake it
you must also be 100% healthy to practice it
Foundations of Internal Alchemy will tell you some stuff but you wont have much of an idea of how to practice it from reading that book
indeed, only a fool would attempt it just from books
because if you fuck up this process, you bring about your own premature end

rousing these are what prevents you from making progress
>>
>>42833177
as with many advanced materials,
"this book is meant to be a compliment to in person instruction by a qualified master"
and as such, will be missing some very key details that will prevent one from achieving success if that's your only material
anyone interested in neidan should begin with my breathwork stuff and achieve mastery with it
doing this first, you'll make much better progress with the more advanced stuff if you have well prepared a foundation for it
"when the student is ready, the master appears"
also, dont bother with things like bruce's new if you want to do the internal alchemy route
neidan is its own thing that works at transformation, there's no point in getting involved in other paths if you are young and healthy and driven enough to go learn from someone knowledgeable in internal alchemy
>>
>>42833146
>So what's all this supposed to do?
"all this" is a pretty wide net, because there's a lot of different stuff mentioned
but at root, any successful practice will first imbue health and bolster longevity
as the chi springs forth from the jing, fortifying jing is the first thing accomplished by a well implemented cultivation practice, no matter what the lineage
is it valuable to you to have not been sick, had any cold, flu, or seasonal allergy for 20 years now?
it is for me, I can assure you
when yin is well cultivated, yang rises right to the occasion to match it
this winds up meaning when you have a good stillness regimen and accomplishment, all of your other endeavors become more efficient
>>
>>42833125
>Unfortunately, I have not been consistent in my practice
as Mr Scott said to Boines Star Trek 2 upon discovering Captain Kirk had a kid nobody knew about and the good doctor was like "when did he find time for that?".....
"I guess if its important to ye, ye make the time"

Does something like that exist? Because for stuff like tsalung or completion stage yoga I could easily list a couple books that give you what you need to start practicing immediately. Yeah they recommend getting a teacher but the information is there in book form for people that want it. For Neidan I can't find anything beyond very basic overviews

Neidan is a practice in which you cultivate individually.
Its personal not empirical, so don't go expecting one or two books to tell you what it is

You love fighting/your art. There is competition for you.

And, The mental realm has it's own martial art. If you're looking for physical war I disrespect that. If you want to take pain, set that up.

(The scent of rationality).

However I understand you well, you are a good person.

You can get more of your hate in mind, than in a physical outburst, as attractive as you may be doing that. Fighting, here, is letting go of your hate, and being light in the wrong way.

It's like Jedi and Sith.

You can reduce a man to zero using mind, steal genetics, and so forth. And then allocate the same amount of pain you could fighting, using electroshock, or persuade them to commit an action that's unfavorable for them.

You can foolishly fight to cause less pain than you can with legal evil. Get to know transfer.

Mind is where war is settled perfectly- you ought not commit crimes, or illegal evil.

If the illegal evil is not made legal through contract or luck(green itself), you ought not do it, or you're on the wrong side of the green.

There is a lot to say from this ai slop.
Such as your ai conflating a lot of stuff and your ai assuming a lot of things which are not implied, such as when I pointed out one poster had similar practices to a book>>42830822, you (or rather your ai) instantly assumed that I was giving an appeal to lit to say or this practice is real. which just goes to show the effort in your supposed "critic".
it even went on a tangent about the joke entry nen

But I think the biggest problem with this whole post was that it assumes that basically every post on this thread is was made with the intent to convince you (the reader) that qi is real, which is just not the case.

I didnt put that image together, its someone's random grab bag of my posts
I mention the diaphragm plenty, if its not mentioned enough in the selected posts, that's kinda on him
I suppose I do owe an olfactoryanon general at some point, although if I do get around to it, its going to be just a couple of them
more important than mentioning any specific diaphragm techniques, is the harmonious integration of the whole gut and pelvic floor in breathing
its more difficult to learn the timing of the perineum than it is the diaphragm, and by harmonizing the lower parts, one is more or less accounting for all the needs of the diaphragm, since it attaches to the anterior lumbar spine and is thus integral to the centerline component of breathwork
>>

>But I think the biggest problem with this whole post was that it assumes that basically every post on this thread is was made with the intent to convince you (the reader) that qi is real, which is just not the case.
I suppose we cant blame you if you simply havent met anyone who could unquestionably make you understand that it is absolutely real, for those who have cultivated it as well as those directly in their presence of it
I've met a half dozen or so, enough to know that there are quite a few flavors of qualitative expression, chi is a pretty blanket term
I dont really care if you dont believe me, and if you dont ever venture out far enough in the world to experience things, that's your problem, but being so convinced...lol

Hands on the navel completes a sorta feedback loop to and from upper field to lower field.
Right hand over left, yin embracing yang is a way to draw spirit into the LDT and induce a state like deep sleep while remaining consciously aware and enable the embryonic breathing function of the LDT, thereby accumulating and refining within one cycle.
Who said doing fancy breathing exercises to manipulate your nervous system is better than naturally shutting things down?

If spontaneous external movements occur, often something repetitive, let them run their course, wait until stillness is reestablished. These are often a blessing.

Tongue on palate, swallow couple of times to stick it there, jaw relaxed.

The fields are as large as you want them to be... pine nut, walnut, orange, watermelon, a whole room... whatever. Don't try to pinpoint shit.

Yeah its mainly about tummo it does a really good job of explaining tibetan buddhist energy work in a very practical way. You do this thing, here's why you're doing it, here's what you feel if you do it correctly. It's one of my favorites

this is one of the major keypoints that I often explain
basically, dont sniff the air for meditative breathing
the airways should be completely lax and contribute nothing at all while the air passes through them
the lower parts are what make for a good meditative breath
diaphragm, pelvic floor, front of abdomen
the quick and easy way to figure this out is to draw a warm bath, about body temp, lay back in it so that the water goes against the eardrums
then you'll hear very clearly how much you sniff at the air without even realizing it
you need to drop the flow of air beneath the threshold of turbulence here
then the nerves dont detect you breathing, and you're well on your way to achieving great stillness
the bath thing is just a tool that should be needed more than once or twice
you're basically learning how to manage air pressure changes and refine them until they are basically gone

How do i apply energy work for exercising? Say, to get better results on cardio, fighting ability, etc?
>>
>>42842473
no
"embryonic breathing" should be well contained within "proper meditative breathing"
its more or less the feeling/dynamic that exists when breathing is well and properly holistically integrated
the air literally winds up feeling like a fluid once your breaths get long enough
>>
>>42842502
its pretty important to master stillness before moving on to active energy exercises
this is explained in the opening of the yijing, where the single yang line (working on breathwork/stillness) gives way to the broken yin line manifesting (mastery of stillness)
otherwise you're trying to amplify signals beneath the noise floor
in order to properly identify those signals, it is appropriate to lower the noise floor so that the signals then emerge above the noise floor and become more prominent and identifiable
>>
>>42842509
mastering the yin side of the equation autoboosts yang efforts
building an above baseline energy potential and maintaining it will automatically enhance cardio
as far as fighting ability goes, it winds up being that superlative mastery of stillness has the effect of more or less disconnecting the practitioner from the perception of time, which on the flip side enhances quick reaction timing, similar to performing motions slowly serving to set the muscle memory more thoroughly and resulting in quicker, more efficient action with less effort
>>
>>42842514
isn't air already a fluid?
>>
>>42842533
indeed it is, but when your breaths get super long, it literally starts feeling like this special sparkly glowy liquid
>>
Not an energy practice, but to prepare the body for meditation, I would recommend doing pandiculation exercises. The principle behind them is simple: contract a muscle, then relax it slowly and mindfully. This promotes relaxation and suppleness of that area.

>How does it help with meditation?
Pandiculation of the torso opens up new breathing spaces. After a session,I can actually feel the air pervading my whole body. I can take long and deep breaths with ease.Breathing feels energizing and relaxing.Delicious even. And the benefits are immediate.

Lots of anon suggest stretching, but I would say this is the better alternative.Through slow and mindful relaxation, the brain regains complete control of the targeted area, allowing it to consciously relax and involuntary tension pattern,

>Where can I learn this?
There are lots of youtube channels if you just search "body part name" + pandiculation/somatics

But these are the two I strongly recommend:
https://www.youtube.com/@ericcoopersomatics/videos
https://www.youtube.com/@LearnSomatics

Check out their playlists and you will find something useful for your issues. They have websites that goes more into the theory of pandiculation and how it works.
>>
>>42843372
>release involuntary tension patterns.
>>
>stand up, knees slightly bent, arms by your side but slightly away from your body (like the standard wuji zhan zhuang stance but a bit more exaggerated)
>forget about your muscles, and pretend that you're just a skeleton or even a stickman
>on the inhale imagine that you're breathing all the way into your bones, right down into the bone marrow, almost squeezing the breath in there
>on the exhale just relax
>do a couple of cycles, but don't overdo it
It's that simple.

it is and it isnt

what olfactory-sama here describes is indeed related, if not a higher stage of integration between yin and yang within the breath to the point circular external and internal breathing is established and breath and qi flow as one.
The ox cart often pictured on neijing tu diagram represents the embryonic breath, its achieved when a seed of pure Yang enters the lower dan tian to be nurtured by yin, and it is initially at least, separate from external breathing or rather employs a variation of Four-fold breath. It's characterized by strengthening of the yin field of the LDT to the point where it feels like a dense orange-sized ball of what i can best describe as "gravity". When this field touches qihai at the front, it pulls in very pure jing from huiyin and upon touching mingmen in the back expels a very cold yang qi up the spine to middle dan tian, i'm not well read but something something Small Celestial Circle?
This is the stage after 100 day foundation, also know as 10 months of pregnancy. The seed of pure Yang is the embryo or the pill(dan) in neidan(Inner Pill)
>>
>>42843813
>This is the stage after 100 day foundation, also know as 10 months of pregnancy.
it should be noted that these are minimal times for one who is in excellent health and diligently practices
otherwise the times will be longer, maybe much longer
>>
>>42843888
>one who is in excellent health
health here is relative to the state of the subtle body and how blocked it is, generally the 100 day foundation can take as little as 2-3 weeks in say a 16 year old because of abundant yang.
>otherwise the times will be longer, maybe much longer
The best time to start was yesterday, second best is today.
Discipline will tend to overcome talent and even destiny for most people.
Inequality in this case can be easily overcome by dedication, will is also related to one's essential qi after all.
Courage can take you further than books and techniques.
Having guts(heh) is the foundation of eternal life...i'll see myself out.
>>
>>42842128
do they "harm themselves" because the techniques are hard to master and a bit risky when not well mastered or because the techniques are dangerous? i don't see the problem so far with the book. But i'm not at a point where i can sense very well energy and move it so like it's still a far reach for me.
It's not suprising if you try to redirect energy inward instead of outside during sex that it might be challenging and potentially harmful (although harmful to what extent i wouldn't know seems vastly exagerated to me)
Since i hate ejaculating i have 2 options, either die alone or learn practices to have casual sex without releasing
>>
>>42844114
unironically its better to ejaculate it than redirect it to the spine
Once it has become "thick" jing is no longer jing, lust is also emotional energy that once mixed in, cannot be expelled, so keeping such fluid is worthless if not harmful, purifying it takes a considerable amount of energy as well.
If the technique in question involves blocking huiyin with your finger then it's actually a useful tech, but should not be employed for sex/masturbation due to aforementioned reaction to lust.
Thats about it, if you do redirect it, spend time to drain it back to the lower dan tian and not let it accumulate in the spine or head.

>do they "harm themselves" because the techniques are hard to master and a bit risky when not well mastered or because the techniques are dangerous?
specifically, do not do the big draw
ever
its just a bad technique
bad idea to employ forceful techniques with the lower floor, or forcefully draw things places
solo sex stuff is a bad idea, no feminine energy balance
its not the sort of thing that manifests severely in the short term, but long term it is definitely harmful, especially if overdone
>>42844187 is correct, it is a terribly inefficient deconversion process
(although external pressure on the huiyin is for certain things and shouldnt be considered any sort of foundational method)
remember, if you're here asking questions, then there's simply a 99% chance that foundational methods are most appropriate
as far as sex and the brain goes, there are efferent (carries signal away from brain) nerves connected to your testes, so lustful thoughts, images, or sounds are all treated by the organs as commands to produce fluids
this means that the man with a clean mind will never have blue balls
the man with an unclean mind will have these eventual problems of buildup, however they manifest
there again, proper inclusion of the lower floor in breathwork helps prime all those pumps, internal organs included
so you really dont have to worry or think about such things, just practice properly and often, eat well, get good sleep, break a sweat every day and the jing will firm, gung will build, endocrine harmony puts a smile on your face
>>
>>42845301
>>42845301
>so you really dont have to worry or think about such things
Do you have a sex life? or do you live like an hermit and are completely chaste?
I talked with a few people who told me they achieve dry orgasm. Even without orgasm, is it possible to have non ejaculatory intercourse once in a while and not release? or do you really have to be 100% chaste and single to cultivate?

>solo sex stuff is a bad idea, no feminine energy balance
this is written in the book of mantak chia, not that i would have wanted to do it anyway. It's very clear to me masturbation is an awful draining practice. And when masturbating i can't last very long, unlike when having sex. Like it said it's a very yang thing, and quickly depletes you. Masturbation isn't real sex. Solo practices are not recommended in the book, except to try to practice drawing back all the sex energy when it starts building up. So stopping at the very first stage of feeling an ejaculation building up. But i wouldn't do it anyway, i really don't like ejaculating, so not worth the risk. I also hate masturbation in general, really pointless and toxic habit.
>>
>>42846359
I dont feel the need to finish when I have sex, just the act itself provides sufficient energy balance
but every once in a while, sure
that said I'm a little older, so naturally my body has less capacity for orgasms
>except to try to practice drawing back all the sex energy when it starts building up
in reality, this is to be done immediately when the energy starts going there, there shouldnt be any dick touching involved
>>
>>42844015
what if someone's body is already in a terrible state? what if the act of trying to engage the diaphragm causes long lasting discomfort?

Elaborate more please.
When I began breathwork my whole belly and pelvic floor was extremely tight from all the years of uncosciouss tightening, and I had to work over 2 years of nearly daily practice to realease HALF of it.

Discomfort is normal in the first months but please do describe what happens if you try to breath deep please.

>>42852639
This is why I recommend pandiculating.A brief session can be really effective in releasing any involuntary tension patterns.I'm surprised it isn't as popular given the amount of shilling for TRE when it works just as good, maybe better.

Go to Eric Cooper Somatics channel on youtube and do his exercises.Read on his websites and you can make up your own exercises tailored to solve your issues.

The chinese cultivation community is insufferable.
>bro zhan zhuang doesn't build energy
>nah bro you're wrong my teacher says it does
>you need to active that the dantian, no not like that bro
>nah you're wrong bro, you active the dantian like this dude
>bro you're teacher can't even do electric faqi
>dude my teacher can faqi way harder than you're teacher man
And then you look into it and all their teachers are just middle-aged chinese guys (half of whom die at 50 from a heart attack) just waving their arms around doing things I saw in a video on youtube 15 years ago
>>
>>42855295
gung is the energy reserve that accumulates a bit with each day of practice
this is why you restrain the senses, they consume a bunch of energy
by shutting them off for a while every day, you enhance and increase the energy that is built up
read olfactoryanon for the foundational basics
>>
>>42856492
>bro zhan zhuang doesn't build energy
it does, with caveats
which is that cultivating yang does not increase your capacity for yin
but cultivating yin results in yang easily rising to match its level
so when your stillness is good, the yang endeavors see fruit more easily
this isnt widely known
