Do you have a special wand? A blade/sword/athame/sickle? What do you burn incense in, and where do you brew potions? What’s in the middle of your altar? How did you make these things holy, or pure, or connected with you?
I have some of those things laying around but honestly the only ones ive always considered most magic are books. My library is my most valuable collection. Lately ive also been getting into collecting musical instruments. Its not that i make em anything or whatever, to consecrate em. Just consider them extensions or expressions of my inner practice
I use origami paper to fold paper animals which I inscribe with anglo-saxon futhorc and I don't use them esoterically, I actually write out poems that I wrote which are like little spells that I turned into riddles that use rhyming to sound "witchy", very simple, only like 3-4 lines. I chant or sing the poem as I'm folding the paper and I burn some incense. The brush I use to paint the runes is one that I sanctified with a drop of my blood and another prayer I wrote a long time ago. That's it really, I just write down the poem-spell and fold it up and then either I burn it or if it's a talisman I go place it someplace or if it's a charm then I give it to someone.
Oh, and here's a useful method of entering a trance state easily and contacting the dead or spirits or whatever you believe in or want to call them.Draw a labyrinth or carve one or paint one or whatever, onto something you can hold in your hand. Even a tablet or your phone works. If you don't want to make the maze yourself, go find a bunch of really hard mazes and download them onto your phone or whatever.Go find some place "liminal", like, slightly isolated, feels a bit special somehow, elevated above everything, or a crossroad, or some neglected little space, or something like that, you'll "just know" where. And you find these kinds of places all over the place if you're paying attention and in a peaceful state. You just go looking for them, they're all over the place, especially out in nature. Then you relax there and you take out your maze and just trace your finger along the maze and try to solve it as you chant or sing a spell to contact the dead or to call out to the spirits to reach out to you, or whatever. And just keep chanting and chanting, and tracing your finger along the maze. Do it over and over if you solve it quickly. Faster if you can. And chant and chant, rock a bit or sway a bit as well, that helps. Also, keep in mind, you're going to look like some schizo rocking back and forth holding a maze in your hand tracing it with your finger chanting some creepy shit to yourself in an isolated place for like, 30 minutes straight, so get used to that and don't let your vanity get in the way of this otherwise it will never work. You need to be in the right headspace and committed to this shit.
Also not to spam, this is my last message I promise, but that's another reason why in ye olde days you had a staff with you, because you could lean on it and not fall over when you were rocking or gently swaying and then you dip under while in the trance state and sometimes you pass out briefly so you would not want to just collapse onto the ground or whatever. Having the staff offers support, and also, when you are deep under, the feeling of it alters the experience you have so it just is something you want to consider taking seriously at some point and getting a staff to bring with you if you are going to do the labyrinth chanting thing I mentioned.A cane wont work because it's too small, it needs to support your whole body, so the staff needs to be at least equal to your head-height btw, or a foot shorter, but no shorter than that. It doesn't need to be fancy or decorated with elaborate bullshit either, that can come later, it mainly just needs to be a damn staff lol

I used to be big into ceremonial robes and daggers, but ultimately all of that stuff really isn't necessary.
You know what bro this shit is all fucking retarded. People used this shit because it was the cutting edge stuff of their day. Nowadays all the old magical users would have a stash of hallucinogenic drugs and psychology books.
Make yourself pure for years by doing alchemy with your story/identity while being in the presence of astonishing beauty, which you need to learn to find in nature by looking for it and allowing yourself to be surprised. then eventually you figure out its all in you, which is what makes it possible for you to percieve it in the first place. if you get a wand or whatever, make sure its as beautiful as what you found outdoors. then as you use it, its a training tool to get your subconscious to see it in yourself, its not necessary but its nice. its a prop, no more, no less, it facilitates confidence and reference to specific aspects. changing beliefs by changing your subconscious is the path, some beliefs dont have words, theyre just awarenesses. the hazard is you lose your identity in changing and experiencing the power of the mystery flowing through you. you get what you ask for but you might revert back or run away because it gets too real, it will only be partial though, you can never really return to your former self. play and love, sympathetic vibration re dale pond's work, are the keys. and beauty and truth, humor, whole brained state, and allowing yourself to be surprised, ie keep asking questions, never let yourself stop asking and wondering.

>>42841086I get this idea that rituals or items can have power because we treat them carefully and meaningfully, but I just can't shake off that feeling that when I get something for myself, I'm being vain. If it's not something that I need to use, it just feels like I'm being materialistic.
One of the most powerful magic wands available are customizable, cheap, and freely available in many different styles for different uses. Sadly they are one time use, and perhaps not useful for more than effectively dedicating an average curse or blessing. But they work a hell of a lot better than whatever random piece of Chinese wire and crystals people use these days. Less than a buck, just light it and feel the fire at your fingertips. Point it at your target, say your words, blow the smoke at them, and kill the flame however you will.

>>42841222This is completely false, in original wicca, the magic wand and the broomstick were used for sex magic, the most powerful we had, and wizards with a wand or witches with a broom are the remnants of that.
>>42841174>>42841203>>42841222o7i've been meaning to make myself a long & thick spruce staff for myself. a big ol boomstick.i don't want to post photos of my wands, but they're made of harvested sapling trunks. i decked them out with metal wire covered in yarn wrap, with little metal charms or natural small objects placed in symbolic places.conifer is a whoooole different beast than deciduous. decid wood is real easy to peel, but conifer is just... bloody gory. it's gruesome to work with. the needles get jabbed into your skin, the sap & pitch gunk up knives (yet the business end can stay clear, hmm), they take extra long to dry, they are brutally hard to carve and take 7x longer than decid, yes i know this... but my god that magic.i felt so extremely weird when i held my prepared coni wands. i could feel the cold energy permeating and the scent of spruce filled my nostrils.that's some wild ass magic for real.discarded limbs are utter garbage. but taking a live sapling and working it down asap is a few sacrifices at once.

>>42850686The magic wand have its roots in the distaff and spindle used for making yarn, it was also part of the old Norse magical practice Seiðr. For example in Swedish Dragonfly is called trollslända, magic/sorcerers spindle. In other countries an old name is the devil's needle. In modern witchcraft cutting cords and tying knots are still common. The kabbalistic red string comes from older pagan canaanite practices used as a protective charm.>Historical evidence from literary, linguistic, and archaeological sources confirms that seiðr (the primary form of Norse sorcery) was directly modeled on the physical act of spinning yarn and weaving.>In the Icelandic Sagas, female practitioners of seiðr (völvur) frequently use their spinning tools as wands to cast illusions, predict the future, or manipulate the minds of others.>Eyrbyggja saga (The Distaff Illusion): A sorceress named Katla wants to hide her son Odd from a mob seeking vengeance. She sits on her weaving porch and spins wool from her distaff. As she spins, her enemies enter the home but are totally blinded by an illusion: they see Odd not as a man, but merely as a spinning distaff.>Fóstbrœðra saga (Spinning Protection): A woman performs a seiðr ritual while spinning hanks of yarn. She sings incantations into the thread as she twists it, and when the yarn is placed beneath a warrior's clothes, it renders him entirely invulnerable to weapons.>Darraðarljóð (The Blood Weft): Found in Njáls saga, this poem vividly features Valkyries using human intestines as yarn and severed heads as weights to weave the fate of an upcoming battle, explicitly cementing the tie between textile work and the outcome of human lives.
