The sky is different now, like more real. For months and months and maybe years, it seemed so fake. I notice there’s no stars anymore even out in the really rural places with no light pollution. Now I’ve seen the sky do crazy things every day for about a week or 2, it looks totally different.

Why would it be bad? Halloween was originally Samhain.( Sow-wen )
The practice was to ward off evil spirits by pretending to be them. Burning big bonfires to keep the spooks at bay. All other general shenanigans came later, like carving turnips, the trick or treating, etc.
Some of you fuckers need to read up on your holiday lore.

I don't have a problem with creepy media being "pozzed." Black and ghetto culture has a lot of potential to be creepy as fuck and is an underused genre in horror in my opinion. Last year around October I went on a Memphis horrorcore kick. It's the only genre of hip hop that really connects to me and sounds steeped in black magic.

Also, Tales From the Hood is an all-around classic.

I know someone born on Halloween, also there are many well known people born on Halloween

Not a bad birthday at all, your kid would be a Scorpio, probably mischievous in a harmless way one way or another, possibly overly-dramatic like Keats was, the actor who played Bob in Twin Peaks was born in Halloween and I think you can clearly see that energy in him. If he is due for Halloween then that would be what their soul wants, and it would probably would help them achieve what he would want him to achieve throughout their life, don’t change it out of superstition

Listen to some vintage audio drama on youtube or leave Halloween commercial compilations on. Watch whatever old Halloween specials you can track down, or put on a horror host(wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Horror_hosts). Some things you have to sail the high seas for, but many can be found on streaming/YouTube. Plan watch parties with friends/family, or find them online (cytuDOTbe).

Make seasonal meals/drinks/desserts out of seasonal items/spices. I've been making pumpkin bread and grilling squash. If you don't freak at the concept of pumpkin spice make some seasonal coffee or tea at home, or get some hard cider if you drink.

Go to events in your area. Where I am we have horror movie showings throughout the month at a local arthouse theatre, sometimes there are even movie screenings in cemeteries. Seeing movies in October with a great crowd was a highlight of the season for me last year. You could check your local venues for fitting concerts and events. Halloween parties/bar crawls are popular, and you can check your city for any other events, even libraries do little seasonal things sometimes. There are pumpkin patches and haunted hayrides all over the country, and carnival-style popups show up every year. You could go to some local haunts or one of the big theme park events, go on a ghost tour or do some urban exploration of your own. Read some old gothic fiction, or read stories with friends around a campfire or abandoned building.

Visit a Halloween store or check your local thrift/antique shops. Decorate your place with classic die cuts and ceramic knick knacks, or go all out and make a spectacle out of it. Do your own mini haunt or volunteer at one, meet some new people. If you want to get in the spirit a little earlier next year you could go to midsummer scream or one of the many different horror/propmaker conventions that happen throughout the whole year.

Big or small the season is only what you make of it, so make it something you'd enjoy.
>>
Halloween is what you make of it. I take the last week of October off work every year and immerse myself in horror media, consume pumpkin beers, go for walks in the cemetery, stay up late and generally chill out in the cooler weather

Same. I'm open to the paranormal, but in practice I'm too rational to think that noise I heard while exploring an abandoned building chanting the summoning chant of an abyssal deity was anything but a homeless person that ate a can of beans. Maybe it's just me, but it's hard to believe ancient demons of wisdom sound like a bologna windmill slapping into mud. I grew up around the hyper religious(some of whom were legitimately schizophrenic) so I adapted to be aware of when someone is having an episode, larping, or otherwise fabricating a genuine religious experience. I can vividly remember what it's like to be a frightened child because everyone's whipped up into a religious psychosis. "Humans are le real monsters" and all that. For what it's worth, I think we're all larping all the time whether we like it or not. We're built to larp as human, the same way we're built to suck air in and out of our lungs.

After all, life itself is only a vision, a dream. Nothing exists save empty space - and you. And you are but a thought.

not really but I remember spending time in the library and being amazed by just how many lines of horror books that jew mothafucka did
and later I found out rl stine got tons of adaptations of his non-goosebumps books too. tv specials, movies, the whole kit n kaboodle. ik lost media's a horror discussion cliche at this point, but does anyone remember when nickelodeon (circa 12-14) did an rl stine anthology show? ik it was shortly after the haunting hour on the pony network. I remember watching the premiere and all I can remember about it is a group of kids get on a haunted hayride, and I think one of the kids parents gets turned into jackolanterns
i've never been able to find any info on it.. but one avenue I never considered exploring was the copious amounts of woc archives on yt. I just recently used that method to track down a disturbing-as-all-hell adult swim ident i thought for the longest time was the product of demonic dream possession

Ok, in the house I grew up in the door between the kitchen and utility room was a full length double door with them spring loaded saloon hinges.
>be 5yo
>sitting at the kitchen table drawing with my crayons on typing paper
>hear a bump and look up
>both doors are open as far as they can, nothing there but the open doors
>doors stay open for 6-7 seconds then flap, flap, flap as the doors were released and the spring hinges settled them back closed
>yelled for dad
>dad came, I explained the situation
>"it was just the wind" and he went back to the living room with me following nope'ing the fuck out of the kitchen
There wasn't any air movement. Must have been something just passing through as it was the only odd thing I experienced in the house.

This is a very silly 4chan style one. A couple years back for about a month and a half my smoke detector would go off for one cycle. It only did it when I got in the mood and started to "rub one out" so to say. I mean as soon as I start beep*beep*beep*fire. I'm not some chronic masturbator or anything, maybe 3-4 times a week, but EVERY time I started beep*beep*beep*fire. It was like what, is Grandma coming to check in on me and she didn't what to see that shit? It was just so odd that the smoke detector only did that when I was self pleasuring.

I work at a furniture store as a warehouse guy. I'm convinced the place is haunted. Everyone there has had some kind of weird experience. One time I was upstairs just organizing some chairs before closing, I'm up there by myself and I look towards the stairs and see a chair in the middle of the walkway. Stared at the chair for a few minutes and noped out of there.

Another time I was in the warehouse full of new merchandise. I'm in there by myself about to take a picture of a cool looking statue and I hear this sound, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2jZmXePKV0&t=0

Absolutely bolted from the warehouse to the front of the store, my coworkers freaking out asking "anon are you ok?" And I'm just pointing to the warehouse saying "phone!" phone!" Just in a panic. Spent the rest of the day in the store. We never find out what made that sound but it scared the shit out of me.

So there you go. Furniture store I work at is haunted. Kinda weird when I think about it.

Very eerie.

So shut the fuck up and cancel your plans. Adjust your mentality. Really take some time to try to get used to this new reality you are living in. As hard as this will be for you to do, just go total factory reset. Because this guy? He doesn't fuck with no COMMERCIAL holiday, he's fuckin rebel. He's not like the other boys. He doesn't HAVE a social security number. He only pays for his matcha lattes with Malaysian cryptocurrency, because he doesn't want to participate in CONSUMER behavior. Damn right I did. I'm tired of these melodramatic clowns. Their crushing lassitude! It's just impotent rage hiding behind naïve nostalgia and faux-romanticism, and always with a million excuses as to why they can't lift a finger to change a thing. They'd love for this place to become an echo chamber of sad sacks crying in each other's arms, like a cascading tabletop fountain of learned helplessness.
If they've got a problem with the commercialism they can vote with their wallets. Make their voices heard on an actual platform. Start a fuckin' blog. Or y'know, actually get involved in their communities? Might even be able to change something. But no. They have to turn to these threads to announce their resignation like a slighted groupie pretending anyone gives the slightest shit who they are. Fuck'em.

It's a toss up. I've been thinking about "The Judge" from Blood Meridian. I had a lot of fun as Uncle Fester, but if I shave my head again I want to do something nuts. I know it's gotten a reputation for being an entry level/pseud book, but I'd enjoy going as a character that's so evil people might get pissy at me for even doing it. I get the sense that for the people that The Judge is almost as offensive as all the Hitler/Saddam costumes people wore twenty years ago.

I've also had The Phantom of the Opera in the "Masque of the Red Death" costume on the backburner for a couple years. I want to get a big pendulum clock I can carry around with a speaker for some creepy church bell sound effects, and some specialized perfume that smells like a corpse. I've thought about adding scents to costumes in general. The costuming for that is so extravagant that I want it to be exactly right if I execute on it, so it's gonna stay in dev for now.

The Invisible Man is another idea that I've been considering, but Herbert West would probably be the easiest since I basically look and dress like his chudjack ass already.

>>42878575
Plague Doctors are a certified classic since at least the pandemic, even better if you shell out the dough for a nice custom made leather costume/mask.

I haven't tested all of these but Spikenard is a good "rotten" smell, Tom Ford Lost Cherry apparently smell like embalming chemicals according to some morticians, Sécrétions Magnifiques apparently smells like florals mixed with cum and blood, Strangers Sombre smells like vomit and mud, "Demeter" sells some mushroom/dirt/petrichor scents in a similar vein. "Rotting Flesh" from Armomaprime or a similar company could also work. Cadaver dog training kits have vials of stuff that would be the closest to the real thing, but they can be somewhat difficult to source for obvious reasons. The world of specialized fragrances is finnicky to say the least, so good luck.

I collect bugs and I found a dying white moth so I left it in a box for it to die. For context i only get dead or dying insects.
Later on that night I opened the box to inspect the dying moth when it flew out. I tried catching it to release it but it settled outside of my grasp. I went to sleep and I forgot my dream but in it there was a loud banging. I felt my big toe being tickled and when I woke up the moth was tickling my big toe. Fully awake I heard the banging and it was my mom banging my door. First thing she tells me is "I need to go to the emergency room."

People have told me I remind them of the devil in ways. Just today my coworker said im the devil. Its not in a serious way, good looks mask a lot but more than one person has mentioned it to me. Others have mentioned im a witch in a sense, or am bewitched

I went to the graveyard two weekends ago to film some footage at 1 am and felt something tug my sweater back. Whenever I enter a grave yard I make sure to ask permission from its guardian and leaving I use a different entrance than whence I entered. I always throw 3 coins of the same denomination (usually quarters) over my left shoulder to pay the dead. When I get home I always rub my wrists, neck and make an "×" on my forehead with "green fire." Its rue diffused into vodka to clean off any leftover energy or lingering hungry spirit. Dont pick up money in a grave yard, or anything for that matter. Its where we do work that rests outside the normal scope of magic

I wish I could remember a story I heard at a family gathering in 1987. My aunt was friends with a couple that just had a baby. Apparently the baby attracted a friendly something. Only thing I can remember is if they lost/misplaced a pacifier or other thing for the baby it would appear on the dresser next to the crib the next morning.

>Stará Plynárna (the Old Gasworks) in Hřensko, Czech Republic, is a fairytale-like 1905 stone building tucked into a rocky ravine that now operates as a boutique guesthouse and restaurant. Built in 1905 from natural sandstone and masonry by German workers to produce acetylene gas for lighting nearby village homes. Tastefully restored in 2004–2005 into a small guesthouse with four unique rooms (including space inside the old gas tower) and an on-site restaurant.

I get being wary of hollyweird types, but I hardly think anyone making tranny jokes back then had any idea how annoying those people would become years later, I wouldn't even be surprised if he got canceled post mortem for portraying a tranny as a sexual predator. Since I stopped my business and I'm going on a course with the military (EU, not US) I will be enjoying my last few days as a civilian. I'm 33 now and I have a lot of older friends who were talking about 33 being the most important year of their life. I'm looking forward to the change.

I am reverent and gladdy, though wearing a countenance of due solemnity and measured regret, to caste mine eye backward upon thee Hallowe'ens of those dear and long vanish'ed ages, that shadow'ed twilit 'fore thee plagues of commerce and coin ever had their wick'ed ways with thee land. And to find within their bosoms that boun'ce with such a jollity, a fonded'ness which doth but swell and quicken thee more, as it become's ever thee clear'er unto mine eyes, that in thee far distant and long forgot'ten epochs, when as yet a telegraph had'nt bound those far corners of thee flatten'ed earth in a mesh of humming and buzzing, nor thee great locomotives thunder'ed across thee olde prairieland, nor indeed had any man as yet even conceived of thee moderne convenience which became "the purchasing of things".

This holy-day, wherein thee young lads of thee village were wont to go about from do'er to do'er, knocking upon thee woods of thee do'ers with utmost politeness, and beseeching with a pious and somber humility their kindly neighbours for their all-hallows treats, wherewith to stuff their cheeks. Not a single trick play'ed, not a coin exchang'ed, nor a greedy bite taken from thee well ripen'ed fruit of thee 'morn, but instead time pay'ed in thee olde chapel and thee fields of browne cow. This gladsome autumnal festival of thee gay and of thee macabre, of thee grinning gourds and thee jingling of bells had, at one time, absolutely nothing whatsoever, in any wise, shape, or particular form, to do with that utterly base and grasping spectre to which thee modernes do call "consoomerism".

I know the animator on the intro for Night of the Demons worked for Disney in some capacity later, but nothing in particular with Nightmare Before Christmas afaik, yet there are some very similar shots, blocking, and imagery between the two. It seems like a direct inspiration, but not one I've ever heard mentioned anywhere. The moon being a monster, the hilly graveyard with spiked fencing, the night on bald mountain-esque demonic spirits, the stylized orange text on a black background, the spiral pattern in the sky like the spiraling hill from "Nightmare", and of course the flaming pumpkin at the end being put in the beginning instead. Idk, just thought that was interesting.

>on Halloween
Play vinyls, allow myself to eat some candy, and hand out candy to kids so my parents don't have to.
>around fall
I honestly used to (re)post my own paranormal greentexts but they're so mundane, I stopped. My workplace is haunted though, so spooks could happen any time of year for me.
Too many niggers in my area to explore graveyards and have some real /out/ fun, but I do some walks and hikes in the woods to appreciate the foliage and weather.
I also forage a bit of the local plants and plant accessories I have access to, but I'm trying to make a personal year-round calendar of what I can grab/when, so it's becoming less fall-centric.
New this year, I've collected two potential wands. I'd like to finish them before Halloween and hopefully I can take one/both on a hike and enjoy a solitary smoke offering. I want to cure them with tung oil but my family will smell it and then they'll know I'm a cringy loser, so they'll stay raw until I move out I guess.
The first I've had for months and it still needs way more work. The second was gifted to me from a tree the day after I asked it for a branch, which is pretty neat. Felt like electricity in my hand from the get-go; I think we'll pair nicely.
