I think meditation as a practice came from a time where there weren't many NPCs in the world. If you think about it, the ultimate goal of deep meditation is basically to become completely mindless and NPC-like. It's based entirely around letting thoughts enter your mind then letting go of them, and by proxy negative things associated with thoughts (want).
I've noticed most people don't actually have problems. Or like they aren't really anxious in a existential or deep way, it is always just like they might have money or relationship problems etc. But 90% of people don't have actual existential problems or obsessions about why they're here, the nature of suffering, etc.
Therefore I think meditation and adjacent practices are from a time where most people were fully conscious.

Thoughts on this? Is it like there's a finite amount of souls so larger human population = lower proportion of PCs?

Normies have thoughts. They're NPCs because they are programmed to never look past the veil.

Normie meditation isn't close to what you just described it is self serving and desiring only done because normie believes it will help them gain something.

The normie doesn't allow thoughts to enter their mind in the first place.

NPCs are people conditioned to never break out of their habitual thought loops, meditation is basically an anti-NPC practice to decondition yourself from that and eventually lead you to pure action which is action independent of the looping thoughts.
>>
>most people were fully conscious
Nope. You forget the fact they were normie breeders.
People whose nature is so low that their interests lie in breeding and forcing more people into this evil world are by definition not what you could call "fully conscious."

Maybe the average person wasn't quite as dumb as modern people, but that's a different matter.

>Nope. You forget the fact they were normie breeders.
Well logically most people would be regardless since everyone is born from a 'breeder'. Like if nobody bred the human race would be extinct in 1 generation.
Not that I am defending them since I never plan to have kids, but I mean it's like a self-fulfilling idea. Your parents obviously had to breed for you to exist as a human

I forgot to make the point that nor are they people struggling with "actual existential problems" or big ideas about suffering being bad.

Someone "fully conscious" in those ways is not the kind of person that breeds. Period. It's ridiculous to suggest there was ever a time when *most* people were that thoughtful or sensitive.

Ah right, I get what you mean

Meditation and mindfulness are from a time where most people couldn’t read, describe how the natural world really worked, or avoid malnutrition.

For example, most people forget that Siddhartha Gautama was born into nobility, he was a prince, his father was a king. He lived extremely comfortably and had the ability to ponder existence, desire, suffering, etc. from a very safe distance.

Everyone else of a lower caste just lived, worked, suffered, and died like animals. Their lives weren’t important to anyone else beyond maybe their immediate family, or whoever they owed money to. So almost exactly like today.

People haven’t really changed that much since we invented “history” by recording things.

It took people longer to escape the loop then it does now. In the past it might take a person 1000 years of meditation but today just a few minutes could be enough. That is the state of the world. The further the world falls the faster we can break free from it.

>NPC is nothingness
Wrong, NPC is just retardation, there is something there but its not something we desire, or to be more precise its not the REAL us. The truth is you have the same NPC like thoughts as they do, its perfectly fine and normal, you however hopefully don't identify them.

Meditation is to silence the NPC in oneself. The silly voice that goes on about problems, that chatters about life and its requirements. The part the replays the many different forms of media on repeat due to constant consumption. You become aware of those thoughts as they appear in your mind and let them go. That's how you reach deep meditative states. NPCs don't have the ability to distinguish these thoughts from their own, in their eyes they ARE their thoughts. As such they can't part with them as they believe it to be apart of themself, or thoughts that they chose to think.

You completely ignore the rest of his spiritual journey, and you also gloss over the existence of countless sadhus who were (deliberately) poor/mendicant in order to get spiritual realisations.

Just because someone is poor, doesn't mean they can't achieve spiritual realisation. To the contrary, just to go back to Gautama Buddha, he couldn't learn anything when he was living in comfort. It was only when he stepped out of his wealth and became a sramana that he got to really ponder existence.

Being envious of those more fortunate won't bring you any satisfaction, as nothing material can bring lasting joy.

If everyone decided to stop having children, and the human race got extinct, it would not stop individuals from being born. Living beings have latent desires they feel they need to see through due to Maya, and karma facilitates this. People will then just be born as animals, or some other creature on a different planet. And this includes you. You may perceive the world as evil, but it doesn't stop you from having desires. Only through rigorous practice and austerities does one get to the platform of no attachment to sense objects. But to do so you'll need your body first to realise that. Only then do you get so-called liberation.

There's nothing wrong with abstaining from having kids, if done from right intentions that can be quite auspicious. But it can also be good to get married and have kids, as long as that too is under the rules and regulations outlined in Vedic scriptures. Otherwise a person will just make babies like cats and dogs and cause more suffering. People in those days followed the rules and regulations outlined in the Vedic scriptures, so compared to today (where people engage in sex life only to fulfil their sense pleasures), even their materialistic natures were higher than ours.

>following The Vedic Scriptures™ makes my breeder groidism just fucking kosher and proves I'm really a higher being durrrr
lol
>auspicious
I'm calling it now
"auspicious" becomes the new big word you faggots use around here

Mindfulness meditation isn't about making the mind empty like an NPC's. It's about slowing your thoughts down enough to observe them. Overthinking turns people into NPCs because they follow their whims without understanding where they originated. This is a consequence of mass media bombarding people with advertisements. But it's more like their instincts have been hijacked and directed towards illusory solutions that don't satisfy rather than that people's problems disappeared.

You projecting your own lust and lack of ability to satisfy it as hatred life and creation does nothing except confirm that you are a massive loser.
>can't fathom using more appropriate words and instead has to resort to use language like a baboon would.
Alright then, birth, disease, old age, and death = bad, so renouncing sex life with liberation as motivation = good. You're just abstaining because you're bitter though. In any case, you missed the point entirely. The point wasn't "scripture makes sex kosher" but that they were focused on getting better individuals into society so that they'd have a better society. So sex was very limited. Contrast that with modernity where it's all for sense enjoyment and we get a practically subhuman population.
