Before the KJV, the "word" in John 1 was not capitalized and it was referred to as "it" instead of "him"
Makes no difference to me bud, I don't read anything protestant.
>>42891753Good for you.
>>42891745Before the KJV, the "word" in John 1 was "λόγος." It's just a piss-poor translation if you don't capitalize the W because that would imply the Greek word "λέξη," which means just a literal word, not the more expansive concept suggested by "λόγος."
>>42891845It's referring to the word of God as in "Let there be light!"
>>42891745everyone always looks past >in God was the life and the life was the light of menthat's what really drives my journey
>>42891986I'm just trying to make sense of this book that so many profess to believe. I don't believe it at all.
>>42891745Catholics and their ilk are trying their hardest to deny Jesus 3 times, just like their leader in chief Peter didThey are taking the "dumb as a rock" idiom to the extreme
>>42891994Are you agreeing or disagreeing with me? Can't tell. Both catholics and Protestants are mostly Trinity affirming retards
>>42892011i agree with you, the Word is an "it", its not a person, because God is made out from multiple parts that make up a single being. The Son - the Body - Jesus's physical form/FleshThe Father - the soul - Jesus's ego/the WordThe Holy Ghost - the Spirit - Jesus's consciousness/Breath of life. What the trinity does is to deny this by stating " The Father is not the son, the son is not the spirit, the spirit is not the father", which is nothing more than a reenactment of Peter's denial of Jesus It divides the Godhead into 3 persons, ultimately denying the nature of Christ, forever separating themselves from salvation and true gnosis, as long as they affirm the trinity
>>42892032Do you agree with my position?Jesus was a man, supernaturally conceived in his mother, foreknown since the very beginning (just as I am now thinking I want to have a child and I "know" he will come to exist, although he doesn't really exist yet in an absolute sense), but not pre existent. He was clearly not God as he had to grow up and increase in knowledge. (Luke 2:52 etc). But he was an agent of God, endowed with divine qualities and powers, less than those of his father.
>>42891745The name James means "supplanter". Agents play with names on the world stage.Sam Hyde for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Hide
>>42892049>supernaturally conceived in his motheri wouldn't say that, i think an angel(extraterrestrial) physically impregnated Mary.i for one don't believe in a single miracle that was described in the bible, otherwise we would be seeing saints today who can do such miracles, but we dont.>but not pre existentJesus's kind existed before the creation of this world. Jesus is of a specific race that predates mankind, so he is pre-existent in that sense, but he was not physically there.>he was clearly not God as he had to grow up and increase in knowledgeYahweh is a generally ignorant God too, so i wouldn't put too much pressure on Jesus for lacking in knowledge.>But he was an agent of Godi suppose you are a Muslim, at least you propose a muslim view on the issue.im a gnostic, so our views are at odds, i think that the Abrahamic God is an evil demon and Jesus(Lucifer) is here to usurp him and to dethrone him, which is different from your islamic view that he is a Prophet of Allah
>>42892094>i suppose you are a Muslim, at least you propose a muslim view on the issue.I don't know if there is a word for what I am. I wouldn't say agnostic, but if there's a fancy word for someone desperately trying to find the key to immortality through hoping the religion that promises it is true, and investigating it obsessively, that's meMy position has changed a lot and nothing is set in stone for me, bur presently convinced that "Biblical unitarianism" is the correct position regarding Christianity Islam is an obvious fake
>>42892108well, your line of thinking is 1:1 the same as Islamthey affirm that Jesus was supernaturally conceived they assign him a prophetic status as an agent of God.they deny the trinity.I wouldn't disregard islam so fast if i were you, u naturally gravitate towards it
>>42892124Trinitarians are responsible for the parabolic rise of Islam, which would otherwise never have got off the ground. The only truth Islam defends, is that God is indeed one, not two, not thee, ONE Jesus also affirmed thisMark 12:28-30[28]And one of the scribes who had come up, and had heard them reasoning together, perceiving that he had answered them well, demanded of him, Which is the first commandment of all?[29]And Jesus answered him, The first commandment of all is, Hear, Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord;[30]and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thine understanding, and with all thy strength. This is the first commandment.
>>42892124>they affirm that Jesus was supernaturally conceived>they assign him a prophetic status as an agent of God.>they deny the trinity. The Bible does all those things as well. It's just that people don't give a damn about what it says, all they care about is reading their polytheistic neoplatonic pagan trinitarian bullshit into the text and ranting taking poorly translated new testament verses out of their cultural historical context to affirm their preconceived bullshit beliefsStupid fucking bastards
>>42891745>In it was lyfe and the lyfe was ye lyght of men Fo sho, ma brudda! We also be done in Visage of God, aren't we, brethren in Christ?
>>42892144I loved irl thank you men
>>42892148Loled
>>42892144Your post triggered me to read the entire tyndale version. So many laughs ahead
>>42891987you don't believe that consciousness creates reality?
>>42891753I don't read anything christian, at all.
>>42891845/thread
>>42892132Unitarianism can be just as damaging as the trinity if you turn it into an external worship towards a person.if this happens it doesnt matter if you worship "3 Gods" or "1 God", the mechanism remains the sameif you seek immortality you need to take it deeper.to follow Jesus means to adopt his nature as your ownto do that it requires you to understand his nature first.Once you understand Christ, you shouldn't obsesses about the numbers of Gods that are out there, but realize that the members of your own being make up a single deityThat your body is a temple of worship and everything outside of it is sin and death.>>42892136the bible actually mentions a relational interaction between the Father and the Son, so if you use the language of the bible you can come up with the trinity. The only way to deny the trinity is to interpret these situations as allegories or as something esoteric which is hidden behind the plain language, otherwise there is a strong case for the trinity.i for one dont believe in the bible or the apostles, i believe they are all corrupted, this is why i dont abide within the paradigm of the trinity i also see the few times when Jesus talks about about the Father as allegories and attempts to subvert the jewish religion, not as doctrine.
>>42892239You're a fucking bullshitter if you dont deny the trinity
>>42891987I think the major problem is the way translations were written. Depending on the century they were written, there were different forces and concepts fighting each other in Rome, but also among the royalty who wanted the Bible to be translated according to what they believe is right (hence KJV, not used in non-anglo speaking countries). Early dogmatics were able to force some of their beliefs into translations (the very concept of Trinity being such or Transubstantiation LITERALLY meaning the priest offers actual body and blood of Christ during the Mass, which is idiotic and only weakly based on The Last Supper). It's what we'd call today forcing your own fanfiction into canon. Protestants obviously went even further with that, even though some of Luther's ideas at the time they were written, were absolutely correct in their critique of established order of Church meddling into political matters and deriving financial gain - telling people to do one thing, but acting completely differently themselves.
