Science usually talks about capacity of adaptation, humans and other mammals would have a high capacity of adaptation while it's almost nonexistent for insects and reptiles. It's bullshit.Look at spiders. They were already there when dinosaurs didn't even exist yet, and most species haven't evolved since then. As if these were unable to evolve. But as soon as some spiders found themselves on an island, with new predators and new preys, they started to evolve, to adapt, and they did it rather quickly.
