Do you remember when we had to try to find things that were paranormal or strange? You couldn't just get pipelined into yakub or chemtrails or ELF waves being sent by the government to make you buy bananas or whatever. Things seemed simpler. Still, wild and hateful and braindead, but possibly the word I'm looking for is authentic? People used to have to come here, hit refresh every couple of minutes, scroll through threads they didn't care about in the hopes that there is once nugget of something that made them feel like the world was full of wonder and terror. Sometimes you'd find more than a nugget and hit a vein. I think there is too much of this now. Or do people still find that wonder and horror and it's just my oldfag ass that got bored?
>>42895767I do feel the same, it's the ease of mass consumption. Growing up, not only did I have to look for this stuff, there was still the wonder of knowing I hadn't seen it all. The allure of finally finding THE PROOF or whatever kept the chase exciting. Now, I've seen enough "caught on camera" and read enough "true paranormal" stories to last a lifetime and know 99% are an ad or LARP. in a way it's similar to a lot of things. Going to blockbuster and finding a new favorite game or movie instead of just knowing about every thing you were ever going to be interested in.

But yeah, it's all just right here now in our hands. And now, AI just tells you everything without having to even research yourself. Pretty soon we'll just be downloading the information directly into our brain.
