I work in a group home for autistic adults, I work 8p-8a 4 days a week.
Most of the adults in my program are nonverbal, one is partially verbal and sometimes I go into their room to check on them or put their clothes away and they are awake babbling to themselves, if I ask who they are talking to they literally say "fuck off I wasn't talking to you I was talking to mckenna"
That's whatever, the worst thing "mckenna" ever does is turn on and turn off random lights during the night (can't be any of the clients, two are wheelchair bound, one is heavily sedated and one is very large and clumsy I would hear them) not a big deal. Typical boring /X/ stuff, right?
So tonight I was sitting out back smoking a cigarette as I often do once all the clients are in bed and I've got laundry going, and I swear to God, 6ft away from me on the other side of the neighbor's fence I hear a baby voice going "oh woooooooooah" followed by a deep rumbling growl and then the baby voice "oh wooooooooah" again with more growling.
I thought maybe cat in heat, but as I took my next drag the baby voice went "you...there? Hello?" And the growling got more intense. I said fuck that and went inside. I'm not legally allowed to lock the doors, but ever since that happened a few strange things have occurred
1. I'm hearing music from an unknown origin that isn't picked up by recording, I've tried to locate the source multiple times but the closer I get to it the further away it gets if that makes any sense, it's barely above the ability to hear it, maybe as loud as an air conditioner, but it's this constant droning looney toons style music
2. I was taking a shit and there was a loud as fuck crash somewhere in the house, I ran out to check and all my clients are sound asleep and everything is where it belongs
I'm in SW Washington
Any clue what the fuck is going on? Never had a night like this before in my life.

it's either some paranomal shit or you're having auditory hallucinations. All of those are auditory and, not gonna lie dude the "faint sound that you can't reach and gets distant every time you try to get closer" is really common for auditory hallucinations. Just beware and keep track of it. Just get through the night and don't do anything stupid and get some good sleep as soon as you can
>>
also thank you for what you do, you're an actual angel doing the things that have to be done for those people

I believe you're being trolled, anon.

I hope I'm not having auditory hallucinations, I have never experienced them before.... At least not to my knowledge.
You are right to point out that it's all auditory experiences, though, which is kind of alarming to think about. I'm not overly sleep deprived or anything, though.

It's the only line of work I can really see myself doing, I'm a night owl and I like the fact that I get to help people rather than just make money for some pedophile. My clients are all great people with big personalities, I love them and would do anything for them.
The McKenna ghost is a commonly known phenomenon among staff and the verbal client, she isn't dangerous to any of them and only really fucks with people who aren't nice to the clients. As such she doesn't tend to mess with me much at all, sometimes a light I left on will be off or vice versa, but she has locked a former staff in the bathroom in the past. She has some kind of attachment to the clients, which I respect.

12 hour days really screw with people. The extra day off each week doesn't really make up for it. If you look at companies with this schedule, even when it's 10 hour days, you see new guys every week. If you have PTO I would take it asap
>>
Sounds like Mckenna is fucking pissed you're not minding your god damn hiz and keep interrupting her shit! lol

Oh, well, good luck, I guess.
Don't be ending up haunting that place yourself when she's through with you. lol
>>
>>42918704
I've only had them on weed. Not just during the high but sometimes the next day or week so I stopped. Never came back
>>42918704
Probably auditory hallucinations since they are all auditory like you said. But just for fun, playing the other end, it could be McKenna trusting you as their favorite and trying to get your attention/giving you a chance to know more than the other employees
>>
if he's awake, ask the verbal one if he heard that crash earlier. If he's asleep ask him next time you see him

I found the source of the crash:

It was a toy firetruck in the Verbal client's room that rolled off his shelf
Not sure how that happened, because that client is wheelchair bound and that firetruck was sitting about 6ft off the ground
I didn't see it the first time I went in and checked because I was primarily checking to see if the client was awake, but when I did my second set of rounds and did an actual breathing check on the client, I tripped over it
That one was probably McKenna
I can't explain the baby voice outside, right now though there are coyotes going insane, I confirmed that was real by recording it. There's probably 15-20 of them all yapping and howling just on the other side of the Columbia, which sits behind the property I work at, so they're maybe a hundred yards from me losing their minds over something.
I'm not totally bonkers at least

bet you feel a lot better now kek, still doesn't explain a lot of other stuff, fucking mckenna
>>
>>42918748
coyotes are just hunting down a deer or two. they don't care about a ghost in a people place. don't let them get to you, you've got enough on your plate. update?

Follow up from last night going into tonight:

Shit escalated toward the middle of the night, lights flicked on and off a few times, one of the nonverbal clients woke up and was flapping their hands in distress, which is atypical because they are one of the ones who is pretty heavily sedated. They wouldn't go into the bathroom, which was the primary area where lights kick off an on, so I had to take them to the staff restroom and while we were in the staff restroom and earthquake hit, we had a 3.9 earthquake last night around 3:45am, and as soon as it happened, the paranormal activity just stopped. I stopped hearing the music, the lights were normal the rest of my shift, everything.

Tonight when I clocked in and was doing med counts, I asked the girl on swing shift if she knew anything about a baby voice on the property and she said that she has heard it before and that it tries to talk to clients sometimes. This is a game of telephone, but she has heard from other staff that the baby voice will say the name of a client when that client is awake to try to get them to come outside. It has also apparently asked her what she is doing outside so late and she described the voice as that of a 3-4 month old baby speaking broken English.
Do with that what you will.
We are right off the Columbia, I can throw a rock and hit the Oregon forest from the back yard. And we all know how fucked the oregon wilderness is.
No clue what kind of critter it could be, or if it's a native spirit or whatever.
It's freaky for sure. I was hoping she would just tell me I'm a schizo, but at least three other staff have heard the baby voice coming from the darkness and it has apparently spoken to at least one client. I'm on another 12 so if anybody has input I'll reply as my workflow allows.

To understand the layout, I'm going to explain the house, its position relative to neighboring houses and the layout of the yard, without violating HIPAA

So the house faces north, the backyard faces the Columbia to the south.
To the east around a bit of a bend, about 150ft there is a neighboring house and to the west about 300ft there is a neighboring house.
The backyard is quite large, it has a fence along the back, about 70ft from the main house, behind the fence there is a blackberry bramble that drops off about 3ft beyond the fence, it's a sharp drop, it drops about 20-25 feet and there's another 60ft of bramble and trees on a grade that leads down to the Columbia
The shrubs are not connected to the fence and there is a dropoff about 4ft behind the shrubbery that grades down to the Columbia, it is mostly blackberries and pine trees, and then behind the other neighbors house, it follows the same drop off as it does our house.
There is about 60-75 feet leading to the Columbia in a semicircle around the 3 properties where there is no visibility whatsoever, it's just drop, grade and brambles and trees.
The voice came from the edge where the fence meets the shrubs last night, about 40ft from the back porch where I was smoking, it was loud and clear, very distinctly the voice of an infant, very clearly speaking English, very clearly speaking to me.
That means, if it was a physical being, it had to have been in the blackberry bramble either dangling from the drop, or it was in the shrubs, which stand about 7ft tall and are dense, I believe they are called arbs? I'm not entirely sure.
If you aren't familiar with blackberries, they grow very densely and strangle out other plants and have vicious thorns. So either this thing was traversing through thorns without making noise or it was in the dense shrubs, possibly in one of the myriad pine trees that are back there, but the voice very distinctly come from that exact location where the shrubs meet the trees.

Also just for clarity, when I say the shrubs don't connect to the fence, I mean there is no physical connection, the fence simply stops and the shrubs begin. The density of the shrubs is enough of a barrier to keep the clients from wandering into the brambles. I just want to be clear and explicit in how I'm explaining things so you guys can have the most accurate mental image. There is a small gap of about a half inch where the fence ends and the shrubs begin, but they are so dense that they can't be walked through without physically cutting or destroying a significant portion of shrub.
That's what's so weird about this. There isn't space for a physical creature to occupy back there, not without making a fuck load of noise. We've had a bobcat back there before and it sounds like sasquatch jerking off in the brambles, it's so loud between the noises the animal makes from being scraped up by the berry brambles and the movement of the branches and brambles caused by the animal. It was dead silent last night, outside of the voice accompanied by the guttural growling.
