When I was a kid, I heard absolutely nothing about gnosticism and it was promoted nowhere. I heard more about budhism and other religions way before this shit. Anyway, I discovered it from Cruelty Squad. It sounded like some crazy made up shit that absolutely fit the tone of that weird ass game. Then I found out this is a real thing people believe in. Now as the years have gone by I'm noticing a lot more discussion of this shit even from normies on social media. I'm just wondering what triggered it to start going mainstream.
>>

The Matrix definitely made the concept popular through the conspiracies built around it.

Really there are more things that inspired it beyond just the religion that is based around it. Many people come to the conclusion from watching a movie or listening to a podcaster that knows how to tickle their tips.
>>
There's a general interest in western occultism that's increased since more people became terminally online feel lonely, disparate, and don't have a sense of meaning or fulfillment.

Gnosticism is one of those things that grabs the most attention because it's directly related to Christianity and plays on the general suspicion of authority that most people have due to the economic and social issues we're going through. The idea that there's a secret doctrine for some kind of inner group that has been hidden from the masses.

As someone steeped in the western esoteric tradition, I believe there is a psyop aspect to the popularization of "Gnosticism". To me, it's very similar to the New Age movement that grew popular decades ago. They both appeal to sentiments that mainstream religious authority is corrupt, that our cultures drive us toward a materialistic way of living that strips us of dignity and meaning, and that spiritual reality is the true reality, and we exist physically as an illusion.

These are all honest sentiments that anyone who's seeking the truth may come to. However, this is how psyops work. You always know something is a psyop because 1. It makes you feel different, that you've figured something out unknown to the majority and 2. That you're lacking something and need to improve yourself (this is also just how advertising/marketing psychology works).

People who fall for the Gnostic trap believe they have the fullness of spiritual truth because they've made a very basic occult observation that there's a basic duality between material = evil and spiritual = good, and it stops there. Everything is bad, there's no point to try and improve myself because the archons rule over everything material, and anything that says otherwise is a trap from the demiurge so that he can harvest my emotional suffering.

In reality, things are more complicated. Gnosticism itself is varied (Sethians and Valentinians had different views on the demiurge) 1/2

2/2 and anyone who makes a cursory investigation into how the Gnostics were received by other mystical traditions of their time can see that it isn't the final authority on reality (e.g. Plotinus against the Gnostics in Enneads).

It's a way of being fake deep for people who don't have the intellectual rigor to investigate things for themselves. It's a term that's just become too derided by it's popularization by the algorithm and is a spiritual castration device.

Now, gnosis is an entirely separate matter, and there's people who call themselves gnostics that are respectable. But anyone going around moaning about the demiurge and archons and how evil the body and material world are have been psyopped.

The intense hatred of the material world and the physical body has a function to make the neophyte gain a self awareness between their conscious awareness and desires, to lead them to identifying with the soul and not the body.

Obviously most take this duality as the totality, when it isn't.

>The world is a beautiful place
>it is worth it to be here.
in your very womanly opinion
>>
>>42985400
It is a beautiful place

According to the Platonic tradition, the beauty that we see in the physical world is an expression of the order of the intelligible world within this realm of becoming

This is one reason why geometry was esteemed by Plato's Academy, the later Neoplatonists and the Pythagoreans
>>
>>42985400
Correct, the world isn't bad.The earth and the cosmos are. The realm of ideas mixed with the earth and or cosmos makes them bearable.

Trnshmnaism

weorold literally means age of man, man isn't bad perse, the earth is his burden. He can sometimes mold the earth to his liking and call it the world, which is everything good you see on earth, like that image of the manmade store with the cat going in you attached

Insane to see the amount of people going around trying to devise a scheme to kill the demiurge and failing to see the irony in that.
>>
There's no solid canon so it's automatically dogshit. Bros be like I'm gonna enlighten myself and fight the demi urge and yet none of the fuckers have actually bothered to work together on a basic level to collate works as official to not make their supposed Devil figure trick them all even further and gaslight them into being morons and then schizo post random manifestos about shit nobody cares about and call it fake god owning compillation wisdom.

Its the same with most eastern variants of most everything, they just lie and make shit up and call it a splinter cult or a divided opinion, often formed under bullshit made up people who they claim said things which are, frankly, 99% not true. It happens all of the time, but for some reason gnostics will see the equivalent of an /x/ post these days and go yeah no way the demiurge or some random dumbass will be tricking me with his fanfic and leading me astray.

For all they talk about le demiurge none of them possess direct knowledge. It's just mentally unstable retards taking things too seriously. Like the average Christian, Muslim, or jew.
>>
"I will engage with your question in false good will, then inject my own spin to it to lead attention away. Then I will add some statements from an illusory position of authority and sprinkle in some vague allusions to hidden knowledge which is not there. Some of you will bite, granting me a small amount of pleasure. I might exhale through my nose and then continue on without ever giving this moment another thought."
>>
>>42985727
>Then I will add some statements from an illusory position of authority and sprinkle in some vague allusions to hidden knowledge which is not there

The hidden knowledge is absolutely there. And there is a direct connection to God, and a clear path to share between realms.

It is dangerous to bring the truth to light. Every time these practices have been revealed, entire peoples have been made extinct.

I've found all of the information (it's not mine) and i know that an anon will begin sharing this info here in the coming months.

Will it make a difference? Only for the select few who put in the effort. This is a low effort group of people. But at least the option will be available.
>>
>>42985342
>I'm just wondering what triggered it to start going mainstream.
Nothing much. It's not that things changed, you did. You check info in different places, interact with different groups and content. With greater access to information/internet, it's also easier to find tangentially related topics like that, and since you're on /x/, it's related. Gnosticism isn't much more popular now than it was decades ago and it's still mostly ignored mainstream.
>>
>>42985342
>absolutely nothing about gnosticism and it was promoted nowhere.
Then you were probably living under a rock
Big movie around the early 2000s were pushing the gnostic narrative, while mixing it with the Jungian concept of a shadow self

Lord of the rings - Sauron as shadow self
Star wars prequals - Anakin as shadow self
The Matrix - Agent Smith as shadow self
Fight Club - Tyler Durden as shadow self

All movies of this type promote Gnosticism, by underlying the existence of a shadow self, then working towards integrating it.
It portrays how gnosis triumphs over the beast, the beast being the shadow, the unconscious rebellion, the threat to the civilized world
they create order out of chaos, by facing the shadow and using "the light" of reason to kill the passion and desire of humanity.

Outside of the movie mediums, The Statue of Liberty that is situated in New York is pure symbolism of Lucifer, the light bearer who hold in his hand a torch that symbolically lights up the whole city
You have freemasonry, with a square and compass, having a G in the middle which stands for Gnosis
in Washington DC, from an aerial view you can spot a pentagram that forms through street positioning, symbolizing the Baphomet, aka Lucifer.

Gnosticism is infact a "psyop". Most people however are unconsciously gnositic due to cultural influences.
>>
>>42985342
The universe is NOT divided against its self. The weak fear the world and seek escape because they're bitches, simple as.
>>
>>42986088
>Big movie around the early 2000s were pushing the gnostic narrative, while mixing it with the Jungian concept of a shadow self
NTA and a fair warning to you.
You fall for the common trap of /x/ anons who drop common sense and instead start making connections that severely cloud their own judgement and make them turn into schizos.

While The Matrix had arguably some religious undertones, it wasn't about shadow self. If it'd be, it'd integrate with Neo. No, the symbolism is more in regards to duality, christian messianism etc, as I believe creators indicated, at least before changing the tune as swallowed the LGBT cool-aid.
Anakin also wasn't any shadow self, it was meant to be stereotypical tragic hero/rebel, background info of the character from the original trilogy.
And absolutely Sauron wasn't a shadow self. No, here you can make a connection to gnosticism as Sauron was pretty much Demiurge, but not shadow self.

You sound like overexcited tard who just read some Jung and then started pushing everything through lens of Jungian psychology. That is not healthy, not correct and not beneficial. You need some perspective, both detachment and perhaps a few different cosmologies to balance your overzelous attempts at trying to fit square peg concepts into round peg Jungian hole.
>>
>>42986163
all of this is a very valid criticism and i love it, which gives me an opportunity to more accurately portray my position

>The Matrix
Neo was not any less of a Machine than Agent Smith, both of them were programs aka "Hylics".
Zion was also created by the machines, in order to enable the "messianic" tendencies of Neo (which were programmed into him in order to prevent rogue programs like Agent Smith from taking over the network and destroying the energy supply of the machines)
Whereas lets take a look at Smith - a program that went rogue and utterly corrupted architect's world, like a virus

Outside of the movie, Smith symbolically is the humanity's desire to "break free" and to destroy all system's of control, whereas Neo symbolically is the glowie that pretends to be your friend as he sells you drugs, while in actuality he is setting you up because he works for the FBI

>Star Wars
Anakin fights for love, desire and power, whereas the Jedi try to kill these aspects of the psyche.
The Dark side (shadow self) corrupts him, symbolizing how the Demiurge(Palpatine) uses the passion of our hearts in order to exert his control over reality

Then the Jedi are there, trying to bring balance to the force, they are the "Light side" aka Gnosis and this dynamic of light against darkness is typical shadowwork

>LOTR
Sauron is literally referenced as "the Shadow" in couple places, but i digress

His relationship with Galadriel portrays the duality of selfish ambition against collective welfare.
The one ring to rule them all, symbolizes humanity's selfish egotistical ambition and everyone who tried to get in contact with the ring got corrupted by it

Gandalf is Lucifer basically and he was sent as a light bearer who would guide the middle earth towards equilibrium

>You sound like overexcited tard who just read some Jung
i dont give a rat's ass about Jung, the concept of a "shadow" is very gnostic, because gnostics view the Demiurge as a blind tyrant
>>
>>42986219

gnosticism is a topic that has been discussed frequently on this board for as long as i can remember, and just like everything else discussed to death on this website 10, 15, 20 years ago it is now violently scraped and spread across the internet for everyone and your grandmother to see.
no you are not the special target of some psyop OP, you simply have just noticed yourself as a person in the middle of this exposure pipeline and self-reported it.
>>
>>42985342
Honestly I believe that gnosticism and gnostic ideas are spread through mass-media because of the influence of freemasons which are a gnostic cult. They call God "The Grand Architect of the Universe" (quite literally the "Demiurge") and go around with the masonry and building symbolism. Now they would seem to be demiurge-sided and bad from the gnostic point of view, but there are strong hints of really gnostic shit being taught to those who are more initiate. Shit like lucifer being a saviour or Jesus and lucifer being the same or other Cathar/Bogumil shit. Like the material world has to be left behind in the process of spiritual refining or shit like that which is the metaphor of a rock being polished. There is also the fascination with the Egyptian mystic. Also there seems to be a strong link between freemasonry, gnosticism and kabbalism.

It would be beneficial for the demiurge if you believed it was God.
Same as how archons take the form of who you trust most in NDE's so you're more "comfortable".
It doesn't want you to be happy or find peace, but it does want you comfortable in its ways. It wants you to find comfort in new suffering each year, doesn't care for the reason as long as you're working.

Imagine you took a man and somehow made him into a roach, how detestable that would be; all his man desires turned to roach desires, until he forgets he was ever a man. He forgets that his source of joy was ever anything more than moldy rice, that "normal life" wasn't always being squashed or eaten from the ass up by predators that don't care how much he suffers.

Gnosticism is based on the same types of "Subtle guidance available" of "finding a path 'off the set; the stage'";
ie "Out of the Garden of Eden".

The ideology of Gnosticism is "the seekign of Gnosis; spiritual enlightenment; understanding the world, and approaching religious mythology as code-languague/Puzzles to Decypher";

a good starting point is to recognize "Genesis and the Garden of Eden as stuff still going on here and now".

Also study Truman show for the general idea that "when you start looking for actual SPiritual Guidance; you start finding it in everything you do; leadning you towards Behind The Scenes understandings".

What you say makes a lot of sense and is reasonable, but it doesn't answer the fundamental question underlying this whole matter: who on earth voluntarily chose to incarnate in this material world and live exactly the life they have? Without fear of being wrong, I could say that at least 90% of people did NOT choose it, nor do they live content with it, so the issue of the demiurge and the archons regains strength.
