Anyone else who hikes in forests come across these?

Not sure if this is a thing or if I’m just really unlucky, but I’ve found these metal pillars in the middle of forests on a few different hikes now.
They’re always just standing there, kind of randomly. No markings, no signs, no obvious purpose. Just a tall, rectangular, rusted metal pillar, like the one in the picture. The first time I found one was a few years ago in a temperate forest in the Appalachians. I was just off-trail, bushwhacking, and there it was, half covered in leaves. I thought it was some kind of old boundary marker at first, but it didn’t look like anything official. I touched it because it looked interesting. It wasn’t cold. In fact, it felt slightly warm. Not hot, just… warm. Like someone had been standing next to it in the sun. But it was a cloudy, chilly day, and the ground was wet. I brushed my hand across it for a few seconds and the warmth stayed, almost like it was coming from inside the metal.

I didn’t stick around. I just took a photo and left.

Since then, I’ve come across more of them in different forests. One in the PNW, one in a pine forest in the Midwest, and another last month in a deciduous forest in the South. All different locations, all at least a few miles off any trail. Same thing every time: no markings, no signs, just a rusted metal pillar. Always feels slightly warm to the touch. Never cold, even in freezing weather. They’re always in random spots too. Sometimes near a stream, sometimes on a ridge, sometimes just in the middle of a clearing. Never in the same place twice that I’ve noticed.

Has anyone else come across these? Are they just some kind of old survey markers or something? Or is this something we’re not supposed to find? I don’t really know what to make of it, but it’s starting to feel less like a coincidence and more like a pattern.

Anyone else ever run into one of these in the woods? And if so, did it feel warm to you too?

Probably one of the monoliths

If you've ever seen the golden monolith, even just a pic of it, then you're on the best timeline

That's not metal, or rust, and most people don't casually hike across the PNW, midwest, and south.
Also consistently finding them across three different parts of the US a few miles off any trail and "never in the same place twice" are somewhat contradictory statements given how consistent is apparently is.

I think OP is full of shit and needs to step up his innawoods game and just pretend he saw a skinwalker or did drugs and fought a bear or something next time.

>. Never in the same place twice that I’ve noticed.

You mean that they are gone when you return to the same place later?

These are surveying posts, they lay them down when dividing land in quadrants etc.

They are made of metal or rock so they last long

Cool but not paranormal

Yeah. I actually used one as a landmark once while hiking back, but when I passed the same spot later, it was just… gone. I couldn’t find any trace of it.

Could it be old landmarks for measurements (geo science stuff) used for / with theodorlits?

This is an old type of metallurgy where the metal is cast in a trench in the ground. It’s clearly some sort of pig iron.
Back in the day if you didn’t have a big enough mold you could just dig a trench compact it and pour the iron right into it. Then dig it out when it’s done and you’ve got something like this.
Probably used as landmarks. If you think you found your way back to one but it’s not there, you’re actually lost.

I think op may have just stumbled upon one and made up the backstory. They definitely do exist, I've seen them. That being said there's probably a boring explanation for what it is
