Latest I have got on this was Judas was probably an Illuminati or church plant because Jesus loved chill with the wine pedddlars and hoes. And the church were a little more brutal with behaviour modification back then. They didn't want to just convert and accept people, they wanted them in a preprogrammed pre-approved lifestyle that keeps them quiet and working.
In the storyline, Judas had no free will and was condemned by their god and even so called friend hesus before hand to commit the betrayal.I view Judas as the victim, the wronged one.
