People like to pretend that it's some incredible miracle and yet humans and all organisms really just readily accept any and all distractions and treats to escape reality. All the most popular philosophies and religions seek escape, salvation, liberation, whatever you wanna call it really. It's so obvious that even on a deep-seated and unconscious level that life sucks and we only participate in it because that's really all there is to do, you don't really get a choice in the matter. There's a movie called the Discovery that I think accurately depicts what would happen if people knew definitively there was some kind of afterlife/quantum immortality; suicide rates would skyrocket. If we knew what happened after we died, and we knew it was better than this - I absolutely guarantee that 90% of people would kill themselves from the jump. Hell if we found out there was no afterlife I bet the suicide rate would skyrocket too, because then it wouldn't be worth it for most people and we would know that there's no grand punishment waiting for us. People will refute this and complain, but we all know it's true. We all know that we go on only because we don't know.
