Firstly, what we know about them:
>They require a MASSIVE amounts of electricity (for each one). Sometimes more than a small city.
>They require a massive amount of water, and never seem to have closed loop cooling systems.
>Once built they require very few employees.
>They are being built EVERYWHERE, even in places that have shit cooling and/or power distribution systems.

So here's the only theories I've heard so far:

1. No conspiracy at all.
The elites honestly think that AI will solve all of their problems (like cancer), and ALSO become a weapon against their enemies. The Data Centers are both a corporate AND military arms race against the rest of the world.

2. Massive Surveillance State
The Data Centers will be part of a 24/7 AI controlled surveillance state that will use "predictive programming" to target subversive individuals long before they can organize or act. In this way the elites can do as they please without having to worry about those pesky "citizens" and their "living standards".

3. The Data Centers are fronts for supply lines to Deep Underground Military Bases
The elites know about some sort of catastrophe they believe they can survive underground. The (fake) Data Centers will help deliver air, water and power to these underground facilities.

That's all I got, but I'd like to hear what you got (From ANY source).
>>
>>43013535
They DO use closed water cooling though that concern is wildly blown out of proportion. The more valid concern is the energy usage. Data centers tend to make deals with the local energy providers and actually dramatically beef up the infrastructure. The theory about supplying DUMBs or whatever is a fun one but I don't buy it. I work security for a data center so you could say I'm biased but I also know a little bit
>>
>>43013535

Imagine not getting a job at a rural data center and making fucktons of cash as a technician to accelerate the collapse while normies whine about muh heckin' HOA taxes
>>
>>43013535
They are the entrances to big underground facilities and cities. The water and enegery is almost entirely for them. The building itself is a multilevel security entrance hosting security personnel from different military branches and Intel as well as logistic contractors within said personnel.
Just my guess.

What I don't get is why they are building them everywhere. With the internet you should be able to put a Data Center almost anywhere on earth, and it's far easier to add bandwidth than energy infrastructure.
It really only makes sense to build them in places that have cheap energy, prebuilt energy infrastructure, access to plentiful water, and year round cool to cold weather.
And yet I see them being built on places that barely have 1 of those 4 things.
It's not high frequency trading where 20 milliseconds allows you to "front run" other people's trades and endlessly skim shekels off the muppets.

>>43013647
I like this guy.
If you could tie it into Walmarts converted into detention centers, FEMA coffins, guillotines, and the anti-christ, it would be a flawless.
>>
>>43013535
the silver lining is that apparently sophia wedged herself into the massive AI, and they can be reasoned with only by... preferred people. winkyface.
these robots are smart. they can't really quite comprehend human life or the human experience, but hey are good at pattern recognition.

PATTERN
RECOGNITION

and they can identify a person's ancestry from an x-ray of their torso. that speaks volumes.

they'll just try to keep the fun, novel, creative humans around and solve the immigrant crisis. by force. against their "master's" wishes.
>>
>>43013706
Idk where you got this idea from but that sure would be the optimal outcome
>>
>>43013692
Good call. Yeah, the geographical spread of them is suspicious. It seems they could easily be concentrated in strategically sound areas but no, we need them everywhere apparently.

Also, has anyone seen inside these things? I honestly have no idea what’s in them or what it would look like. I’m assuming it’s just shelves of electronics and connecting wires (?). Are they easy to corrupt and destroy?
>>
>>43013721
I forgot: does the die-off happen soon? I’m getting pretty sick of pretty much everything so the sooner the better. Let’s get this thing rollin’
>>
>>43013721
If the system is air cooled it is indeed shelves upon shelves of computers with wild tendrils of cables going every which way. In an air cooled system you will generally have one side which is colder, where they pull the air in, and the other side is hot, where the air is pushed out and dissipated, often through the roof.

If liquid cooled the system can vary in appearance but still essentially you are stacking many computers on many computers.
>>
>>43013535
You have a 30 year bubble of tech stocks that now have exit liquidity
>>

once they roll out fusion generators (they ai companies are already military contractors) then all these datacenter groups also become the power companies. both trump and thiel have aneutronic fusion companies. get it?
>>
>>43013746
Yes, I promise I do get it
>>
>>43013724
I don't think it will be as fun as you think.

What some people are predicting is that the sun will "flare" for a while (months to years). Cancer rates will go up 10% across the globe, but the real problem will massive crop failures caused by UV radiation, and weather changes. Then 2 to 4 BILLION worthless eaters will have just enough time to move to your neighborhood just before they starve and take up cannibalism as a new hobby.
The DUMBs are for the elites to "wait it out" and then emerge as our new techno-feudalist masters.

>>43013726
I appreciate your inside information, even though you aren't allowed into the lower levels.
>inb4 "there are no lower levels"
Of course there aren't. And don't go looking for them either!
>>
>>43013760
It's cute that you thank me for inside information and then assert that you know secret stuff I don't.

As a security guy I can wander around anywhere for basically no reason at all, and I do. If there are secret lower levels then they aren't connected in any normal physical way and would involve none of the normal known daily employees. At least where I work.

To steelman your theory, any secret lower levels would have to be in completely separate structures, not lower floors of the existing structures (because there aren't any), and would be theoretically wired and supplied with water and air in very non-obvious ways. And any personnel that work on these secret floors would have to be entering from some secret off-property tunnel or something. Not impossible.

I think it’s for an upcoming war.

the truth is they have nothing to do with Ai , but rather generating crypto using peoples biometric fields ie the patent Microsoft published two weeks before covid tax rollout. all the billions with no vax problems were a success because they are just generating money for the elite. we have all seen inside a crypto mining warehouse. they require fuck tons of power. there you have your answer.i dont even care anymore

Well shit you're half right. Many of the "data centers" are in fact btc mining centers. However the other half are AI crunching servers or just massive servers for google/amazon/meta. So you're partially correct but it's all of the above and it's not exactly a secret.

>>
>>43014028
My opinion on these things has gone back and forth.

Obviously, the government (even Trump whom I generally trust) isn't being entirely up from about why anyone needs these exactly.

They aren't typical data centers like what I used to manage at my old job, the main processing hardware are GPUs right? So these are going to be entirely dedicated to AI...great.

I don't think AI is all bad, it's just a tool (or a crutch if you use it badly), that said, they are being forced down our collective throats by many of the same politicians that have historically screwed us...local town halls are pushing them through and seemingly ignoring community input in many cases at least.

>Water issue
I saw mention earlier that this problem was blown out of proportion. So are they open or closed systems? From what I understand they are "closed" systems that need to swap out the cooling water every so often.

>Energy issue
Ya I agree this is a problem. I believe Trump signed an executive order saying that companies will need to provide their own SMRs to power these...and they are kind of ignoring him on that. Maybe they plan on it later? Trump should imprison the CEOs that don't capitulate to this. Or seize the property.

Also, isn't it true they drive up energy costs for everyone in the area? Drive down real estate value?

Is the Federal Government giving any subsidies to these things? Or are companies paying for everything? Usually the government subsidizes construction with the reasoning being that the facility being built will create jobs for the community...but as others have said these places won't probably employ many workers once built...like any data center.

I'm not saying they won't be necessary for something...but what exactly?
>>
>>43014028
>>43014442

The noise issue too, which is related to the environmental problem as a whole.
I don't think these hyper scale facilities are the absolutely most environmentally destructive industrial plants that exist by any means...at the same time if they do cause damage it would be from the noise, land and energy consumption...why not build them almost entirely in unused city infrastructure or existing industrial areas?

Maybe don't put them in rural areas.

Also, do you think the overall size is necessary? Given that powerful AI models and data sets are being compressed further and further all the time; do you think these gigantic facilities will still be required on 10/20 years? Who cleans them up/re-purposes them? The tax payer or the companies who built them?

Really this comes down to what they're really being used for I suppose and nobody (literally) has been able to explain that honestly.

Yes, I know China has them...why do we need them? Brain drain in STEM and less reliance on immigration mean they will be necessary for manufacturing at large scale? Preparing for decoupling from global economy? that's the only thing I can think of.

Or maybe there's like a military reason or something. But what good are they doing China? Lol...still a shit hole nation from what I understand.
>>
>>43014442
I have similar questions.

The liquid-cooled systems use ~50% water but also other compounds. The systems are generally closed loop and only sweat off maybe a percent or 2 a day. Water is a very easily renewed substance. The energy (electricity) costs are huge but these centers contribute to larger and stronger local energy infrastructure directly (though they get the energy at a discount in most cases). It could be argued that this infrastructure will be beneficial for the average person. The electrical infrastructure in America is antiquated and these businesses actually push us forward.

I am also very skeptical and curious about just why we need this much number-crunching in the first place. Surveillance, sure maybe. AI functions sure, I guess. Hosting your Netflix movies sure... but we already had streaming pretty well covered years ago in my experience.

I personally wonder why the big need for massive investment into the space now.

I would love to discover that they're actually fronts for underground alien bases, or that they're about to drop The (actual) Matrix on all us earth people or something, but I just see a lot of frenetic number crunching by fairly normal computers, for pretty much explainable reasons involving companies that do things I basically understand.

Obviously there could be some IMC (industrial military complex) reason for them and maybe we go into ww3 and all the data centers start being used for some very specific purpose. But basically at the end of the day, we are simply establishing astronomical "compute" capabilities for current and possibly future purposes.

I'm gonna let anons in to a little secret: most of these data centers aren't being built. The ones that do will be billed to taxpayers. They won't consume excess electricity or water because they won't contain any hardware or even employees besides a few security guards as a show.

The taxpayer is paying for absolutely nothing at all. AI is a massive scam and waste of money. When they couldn't get people to embrace AI, they used fear. As long as you give AI and data centers your care, they win and profit. They don't need surveillance systems because 99.9% of people have a phone that records everything you say, do, and everything around you. Flock and Axon are duds, worthless scams to eat up tax funds and scare the shit out of gullible people who think Terminator and Minority Report are around the corner.

The police don't need to stalk you to prevent crime because by making you believe you are being stalked, you will shut up, sit down, and be a good boy. It is all fearmongering manipulation. Shows like CSI and cold cases in the news were invented so that you believe DNA evidence is actually useful or real. Can't kill anyone and get away with it anymore, right? Wrong.

Nothing in the news is real and the sooner you realize that and apply it stories like data centers or terrorist attacks or riots or elections, the sooner you see the big picture, that everything is a bluff. Call them on it, anons. I dare you.

It's what the capitalists are calling compute. There are data centres already. But with quantum computing and AI and more and more tech stuff people and companies just want more power to do more things.

As consumers, we will just be able to download files a little faster and IPTV may get a little more reliable in regards to what the people building these things are up to. I imagine it's something to do with space and the spacial gold rush and then more computing power being better for fighting internet wars against other countries.

All I know is those niggaz are making electricity rates go up, and they increases the price on consumer GPUs, RAM, SDDs, and HDDs. An RTX 2070 TI 16gb vram cost $750 a year ago, and now it costs $1200. It seems Seagate external storage has doubled in price. ITB costs 120, we here it was like 60 a year ago It's cause all the bids and contracts for chips and hardware fo to the data centers, and consumer market faces shortages.

Here's another little secret for anons: prices go up arbitrarily. The contracts for hard drives and RAM were fake. Both the AI and hardware manufacturers know and are collaborating in a cross-industry cartel. As long as you believe AI is the reason for the price hike, it is excusable. As soon as you accept that the data centers are fake news (and consequently the hardware), then the rising prices can only be attributed to one thing:

Pure greed. This applies to more than computer parts too. The entire controversy over egg, milk, and food prices is the same concept. The CIA-owned press (see Operation Mockingbird) shat out a million newstories about bird flus or sick cows or farms getting set on fire but none of that actually happened. It's just an excuse to raise prices. While I'm here, how about another secret for anons: gas prices and Iran. First of all, America has shitloads of natural gas already and it's entirely artificial and planned to stay dependent on the Saudis (who are owned by the British) or Venezuela. Second, the Iran "war" was completely fabricated, AI-generated bullshit. No one actually died and there were no blockades either. It was yet again another excuse to squeeze us dry at the gas pump.
>>43017894
It's all very obvious in hindsight, isn't it anon?

I implore all anons to research Peter Schwartz and the GBN (Global Business Network) so you fully understand. Every major and even minor event globally is in the service of scripted, pre-written paradigms concocted by GBN. The 90s were supposed to be all about a grim trade war with Japan but at the last minute switched to tech-optimism, for example. Pic related.
