"In a ritual believed to date back 2,000 years, the Igorot people bury their dead in hand-carved coffins that are tied or nailed to the side of a cliff and suspended high above the ground below. This gravity-defying graveyard is believed to bring the departed closer to their ancestral spirits."

A dakhma (Persian: دخمه), also known as a Tower of Silence (Persian: برجِ خاموشان), is a circular, raised structure built by Zoroastrians for excarnation (that is, the exposure of human corpses to the elements for decomposition), in order to avoid contamination of the soil and other natural elements by the dead bodies.[1][2][3] Carrion birds, usually vultures, and other scavengers, consume the flesh.[1][2] Skeletal remains are gathered into a central pit where further weathering and continued breakdown occurs.[

Doesn’t someone in the bible come upon one of these mountains where they leave dead for the birds?

Not that I recall in the old testament at least but Ezekiel does come across a valley of bones and there's also something about dead people being left on a mountain (which I feel like is definitely the historical precedent for the persian towers of silence). tibetan sky burials are also very similar to what you describe

Sorry replied to wrong one lol. And I also wondered about that "BOMIT-OG" on the side, maybe its just an exotic name

Wait this sounded retarded, to elaborate they didn't "come upon it" per se but a few of Sauls descendants are left dead on a mountain and a woman actually keeps the birds away from the bodies to give them a proper burial. So there's a huge parallel in how it is regarded amongst Israelites favoring trad burial and Zoroastrians who seem to treat it like a purity thing

You’re supposed to wait 3-7 days before burning a body because your astral sometimes hangs around
