Why do some people become misanthropes? You can't say its just due to enduring abuse by other people. Plenty of people experience that and still go on to believe humanity is mostly good. Is there a spiritual component to misanthropy?

>>43030556It's up to personal temperament. We may be like sponges early on, but upbringing is less important than genetics. The act of picking and choosing what lessons to absorb in what way is the product of genes. People choose to ignore nature, because it discounts their entire world view, makes them feel bad. I grew up seeing plenty of bullies from highschool "reform". They're still the same assholes, just more consciously aware of how they look to people and the consequences of looking bad. They talk shit behind peoples backs instead of in front of them, instead of making fun of you in a direct way, they make passive aggressive remarks or gossip. They learned nuance to mask their shit as harmless workplace fun. They climb the social, and economic ladder far easier than their victims because it was built with them in mind. No different than how behaving this way got them attention in highschool. These people don't change. There are good people, but the majority uphold this system, and you can see their vileness on full display when they have an anonymous space like this one.

When they're born to purposefully shitty parents or in a real volatile place they settle into negativity because they don't have any kind of role model to teach them self respect or give them little things to appreciate later. It's learned, most of the time. Narcissim can blind them to what they have as well, they can obsess over stuff that doesn't matter due to sheer vanity, the kind of delusion they only wake up from when they lose someone important who was shielding them from reality out of some appease the prince(ss) type of parenting. Now you know how good you had it, how dumb you were for bitching about not being treated like a big kid, well now you get to know how life is like without your unappreciated Mom/Dad around to enable your juvenile distractions.
