Why is the concept of zombies or a zombie apocalypse so popular? Everyone thinks they'd be some Resident Evil protagonist who goes around killing them all when the reality is you'd either highly likely already become one when the outbreak happens or you'd die of starvation or some other survival related cause within a matter of days/weeks.

We all yearn to escape the system and return to more primative living. Zombies are one of the best science fiction scenarios to make that happen. The entire genre of fantasy is also expression of this basic desire to return to a more natural environment. We all now we would be happier in a more primative environment.
