I've been to Montauk and the base is fairly small, but sitting on a large rocky overlook, so you could tunnel underneath. All of metro NYC is littered with abandoned military bases and microwave communication towers as well as research labs of all types. There is also a load of abandoned tunnels and mines going back to colonial times. As for the Clintons, I remember they were involved in some kind of spirit cooking rituals out on long island.
