I am sure many of yall are familiar with the phenomenon of TikTok witches and Etsy witches. Usually practitioners talk about spell casting techniques, success stories, and the reasons why they practice. A smaller sample of the New Age movement. I was wondering if y’all had any thoughts on the structure of their beliefs. Specifically their cosmology. Many of these witches work with a specific deity, but more often than not they believe nearly ALL deities from all religions and mythologies exist. From Zeus to the Christian god. Somehow they manage to believe in karma, sins, Heaven, reincarnation. There is no consistency at all, and I would like to pin down their beliefs. It doesn’t make any sense.

Your probably dealing with a bunch of of personal beliefs more so than a general collective, many such cases around stuff like this, best to just read from the written sources and if they can’t provide, decide the best for yourself from there
>>
>>43159837
They don't have any beliefs or principles. They're attention seeking foids using the veneer of mysticism to attract followers. It's another ohmygawdimsoquirky gift cannibalizing another hobby.
>>

Some of those I assume have dipped their toes in chaos magic whether consciously or through subcultural osmosis, and one of the concepts from that stream of magical thinking is "belief as a tool" or "paradigm shifting". So, what you and I might observe as inconsistent metaphysics they might view as simply a switching of mental models.
>>
>>43159837
Do your own thang, why do you ask tho?
Are you interested in some manner of witchcraft?
The thing with beliefs is that they may mask reality. You may believe a being (like Celtic The Morrigan) exists, and you may receive feedback, but it might be a Mirage still. Read on Chaos Magick as they spend pages upon pages clearing up such ideas.
The thing with religious thought is that you must believe in the real religion. This doesnt fly with wizards and witches. As they're just trying to get something done, so cheating happens. If by cheating we understand calling upon Fiction beings. It happened, that I received power and energy from DBZ Son Gohan.
But it's just a spell and you ought not believe it in a religious sense, rather a magical sense.

It is more so the seeming lack of interest these people have with anything besides the tasks they're trying to get done. Are they not curious about anything besides hexing their ex? If a normal person encountered a god or some higher being the last thing on their mind would be to ask it to get them a boyfriend/girlfriend

Astounding implications if this switching of mental models was true spiritually speaking. It seems so ridiculous to me that I almost believe the christians when they say it is all demons.
>>
>>43160042
But that's just the thing with that kind of metaphysical switching: what can be said of as being "true" depends on what their current operational mode is. They turn the word into a placeholder.
>>
>>43160032
Wow, you're rather unique from my pov, most people just want stuff, not high spiritual goals
>>
>>43160032
No, I'd ask them for a girlfriend.

they are wiccans basically, which is a made up religion inspired by celtic paganism (an oversimplification of it) and the new age movement. They believe in a masculine god (horned god) and a feminine God (the moon trinity), although the modern witches completely ignore the male aspect and are essentially moon worshippers. That's because modern witches have been influenced by the Church of Satan (atheistic radical liberalism) and the feminist movement (men bad). This completely undermines their credibility.

Most of them aren't even aware of the origins of their beliefs and most women become witches to rebel against the "patriarchy". But when they dive into the theory that's basically the origin of it.

There's your answer. It's chaos magic.

All witches are Kali worshippers (whether explicitly or just implicitly). What they don't realize is that Kali will eat them too.

>There is no consistency at all
Yes.
>and I would like to pin down their beliefs
You can't. They treat religion as a buffet.

All magick is chaos magick until repeated, proven and systematized in to an ordered form.
>>
>>43160531
"Chaos magic" has a very specific "believe it and it's true", "it's all in your head", sophomore semi-solipsistic metaphysics. Any magic that does not follow that assumption is, by definition, not chaos magic.
>>
>>43160658
Insisting on a strict orthodox definition of chaos magic misses the entire point of the paradigm. The core engine is pragmatic: 'use what works.' But the moment you start codifying those techniques, repeating them, and policing how they must be done, it stops being chaotic in operation and just becomes another dogmatic system.

Enjoy your clubhouse or not.
>>
>>43160683
What if there's a specific (possibly very large) subset of "what works" that only works if you commit to it. And give up on the other bs. that might possibly work or not. Think of it like a wrench that stops working the moment you treat it only as a tool. If you're afraid of commitment you'll never make it past the initial stages.

Cont:
All magic started off as the reach for truth. Pure. Irrefutable. Lived. But possibly untransmittable. And out of that search, out of that experience, arose systems and practices. Chaos magic gives up on that premise entirely, being content to ask "what works". Never asking "how", "why", "whom" or "for what purpose" does it work. It's logical positivism applied to magic. You'll never get out of the shallows with such mindset. Any system that does not allow you to step outside yourself is pointless for spiritual growth. And for "chaos magic" the "outside yourself" doesn't matter. Just finding the coolest toys to indulge in the most shallow desires, forever unquestioned.
>>
>>43160683
Ironically, insisting that "all magic is chaos magic(k) . . ." also misses the point.
>>
There are two types of magick, high and low magick. High magick is about complicated ritual and ceremonies that only the most adept would undertake, low magick is shit like chaos magick and voodoo, shit that works and is fast, chaos magick has been called post modern magick

>High Magick: Often synonymous with ceremonial magic, theurgy, or formal ritual work aimed at spiritual union with the divine and higher planes.

>Low Magick: Often associated with folk magic, natural magic, or practical operations focused on addressing earthly, physical, and day-to-day needs

I went into an occult shop today and spoke to the woman in it and she didn't know the word 'occult'. She was foreign to be fair, but still.

Delusional bitches.
You're better off getting something like picrel and then leaving offerings everyday, things like strawberries and raspberries. Eventually you will gain the trust of the gnomes, and you can then provide them with an image of you opps and a slice of birthday cake. The gnomes will take them out, in exchange for the slice of birthday cake. They go feral for that shit.
