When you move on from this world, you will be confronted and tricked by many entities that will entice you to stay and reincarnate to continue farming off of your soul.If you were religious, you would see the deities and prophets you worshipped instructing you to keep looking deeper. Didn't the Egyptians thought something similar? Isn't the Duat, or the road there, filled with monsters and traps? The funerary texts would help the person to avoid those dangers.
