The modern day reptiles like water lizards and komodo dragons can't do that, they however can jump high and sometimes climb trees. I don't get how they would've lost such an essential part of their body, like wings which would carry their whole mass. A bird's wings weigh a quarter of its body weight, something like that just doesn't go away, I don't see it. But that's not the best argument since chimps and monkey look essentially the same except one has a tail while the other hasn't. Another reason this argument is shit is because there exists chickens, and I have seen chickens, and supposedly there exists penguins I wonder if animals like blue whales and dragons co-existed.

Not trying to spoil the fun but if a man thousand years ago stumbled upon that skeleton he'd first of course assume it's a mythical being because of the size and looks of it, but at the same time the skeleton resembles the one of a bird, and since no one has seen one alive he'd probably assume the creature had wings and imagination filled in the blanks...I don't know when we started depicting dragons with lizard-like scaly skin though, that would be a scary good guess from a man a thousand years ago, assuming that's still the canon theory for the dinosaurs.
