They await and expect a marvelous "messiah" or magician or display of wonders to be shown by this alleged person on earth, but the person is supposed to be a non-special "nobody" who comes from a life of suffering not miracles and wonders. If/when this "nobody" shows up battered, bruised, and uncomely, they would never accept the person as being the actual "nobody". "A wicked generation seeks a sign." But unfortunately, the sign this current generation may see is: "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory." Pride comes before a fall.
