Been trying to relearn blading after like 20 years away from it. I was never good at half pipes so I've been practicing on those. I've relearned some grinds but still a long way from my favorite grinds. I have 360's back but I'm not sure how long until I can 540 again. Compared to other guys my age I'm relearning really slow. I've done other sports in the past 20 years so I thought coming back would be easy but I'm pretty much starting from scratch.
Any recommendations for a boot with a wide toebox? My UFR's are giving some trouble for my pinky toes.
Any solutions for pants getting ripped all the time? The ground on my local skatepark is really bad the concrete is not smooth at all and keeps ripping my clothes there ain’t any other skateparks around
>>200970Don't wear your good pants when you're blading.
>>200980I wanna look swaggy tho
How pozzed is the New England roller derby scene? I've thinking about giving it a try but I have zero desire to get tackled by some linebacker looking tranny in a party city wig.
>>201000You should probably pick a different hobby.
>>200987>swaggy>some shitty trackpantsok bozo
>>200485Size of wheels translates to size of dick. Bigger is better, size does matter.Immutable FACT.
quit weed today and I'm pretty sure it's gonna give me insomnia so I think I'm gonna try to go out and finally try rollerblading tonightexcited bros
>>201084t. overcompensating manlet
>>201084Different wheel sizes and materials serve different purposes.
opinions on iRollerboot? he's a very talented skater, but man his absolute lack of style ruins it.xrph
>>201230He's in the Philippines right now fucking hookers and that's pretty damn stylish.
>>201255>Philippines>not Thailandngmi
>>201298Probably wanted a bio female instead of a ladyboy.
>>201360as I said, ngmi
I did something goofy...and it kinda works; the problem I'm having are the rails loosening from the boot. Right now I've got some Lowe's machine screws (phillips head) and two nuts on the ends of them. The old bolts and the ones included with the rail aren't long enough. What would be the best way to tighten everything up?
I wanted to go to the skatepark and practice more on the half pipe today. I went to the one in my neighborhood but it was full of Mexican families watching their kids ride their bikes around and having a picnic right in the middle of the skatepark. I went to a school and messed around with some grinds instead. I feel them coming back. Feels good.
>>201438I don't get it.Washers? Grind the screw down?>>201503>I went to the one in my neighborhood but it was full of Mexican families watching their kids ride their bikes around and having a picnic right in the middle of the skatepark.FACT: This isn't a problem at 3am.
>>201507someone said loctite blue might work
>>201507>FACT: This isn't a problem at 3am.I used to skate late at night (not 3am, I'm not insane), but a few bad falls left me paranoid about being seriously injured and nobody being around to help.
>>201560I miss skating late at night.
>>201503the skatepark near where I used to live became a homeless encampment, so it could be worse.
I had the skatepark to myself for an hour. Practiced in the half pipe. It's taller than the half pipe I usually practice in. Then I hit the streets and found a really low round rail I used to skate like 25 years ago when I was a kid. Starting to get the feel of soul grinds again. I tried a few grinds on a ledge a bit taller than my knee that was one of my go too ledges as a kid but it's so slick and feels so sketchy now. I've gotten soft.
>>201795honestly my favorite height of ledge is just above knee height, I feel a lot more comfortable jumping slightly up onto something, as opposed to jumping "down" to something below my standing height, if that makes sense.
First pair what do?
>>201862get the aeons, absolutely no comparison.
>>201830I'm working on getting back to that. I'll keep posting my progress or lack of progress every session.
am I completely abnormal for finding frontside grinds way more difficult than backside?
>>202234Kinda but not really. I'm the same with some grinds.>Can backside of torque but not frontside>Can topside acid but not acid soul>All of my soul based grinds are left footed except pornstar>Can frontside and backside units both ways
>>184655after a year and a half, I finally got around to actually trying my rollerblades outdidn't go very far before I got drenched and gassed thanks to overdressing, but I didn't eat shit so that was coolwas a lot more anxiety-inducing than riding a skateboard thoughI enjoyed those few minutes but I have a feeling it's gonna take a while to actually feel comfortable just riding around
>>202291congrats, retardbro.if you're really anxious about falling just wear full pads until you're able to ride around comfortably. I always wear a wristguard on my right wrist after absolutely fucking it up on more than one occasion and needing weeks of recovery time.
>>202314>just wear full pads until you're able to ride around comfortablycheers, I'm seriously considering itit actually kinda stung cuz it hit me yesterday and made me feel like a boomer>right after getting out of my apartment>cut through parking lot next door>forgot it was sloped>immediately go faster than I was prepared for>managed to weave rocks and a grate>briefly one-footed it and thought I was gonna slam>barely coasted out and immediately thought about buying a helmet
I bought a pair of kaltek freestyle 2 frames because I was drunk and thought they looked cool. Now I realize I don't need them since my antirocker wheels came in.Should I exchange them for wheels or keep them for a rainy day?
>>202471>freestyle frames>thought they looked coolno accounting for taste, i guess
does anyone remember an old 90s skate VHS that started with a closeup of a dog's balls and some guy saying "down, boy, down!".
I started skating my old high school's mostly unused tennis court to get some cardio in when I can't get to the rink. It feels good just being able to dick around and practice while blasting my own music without worrying about anyone else.
proskatersplace has the reactors for $128
how are the stock 909 frames for flat?
ordered a $25 china wheel set
>>203139those look pretty rough, guessing it's that cheaper type of plastic. let us know how much they wear down after the first session.
>>203139Are those the TNEC wheels? Bunch of scam artists.
>>203172>Bunch of scam artiststhe chinese or TNEC?
>>203189>first batch of frames are defective>sells them at full price anyways>play the defect off as a feature>that feature isn't even consistent frame to frame>you can have a pair of frames where one is rockered and the other isn't>all sales final>call yourself the new everything company>release a cheap skate with a 30 year old boot mold>try and make a separation between "core" skaters and beginners>sell their beginner skates for as much as the "core" skatesThe owner definitely tries to inject some marketing magic into his products.
>>203201alright big boy, why don't you post your current set up?
coming from skate and snowboarding, how do I get out of the feeling of favoring my left foot forward (standard stance on a board) when turning or braking? trying to t-stop with my left foot trailing, or parallel turn to the right feels so unnatural compared to the opposite
Are there any 5x60 frames out there?
>>203621Why would you even want that?
>>203678Low speed high maneuverability inconspicuous strollin frame.
>>203744fair enough. i'm not sure enough people would be interested in such a set up to justify it existing. you could try using a rockered set up on a longer aggressive frame, I guess.
Any boot recommendations for a first timer that is obese?
>>203884I see a lot of fat chicks on impalas. If you're using quads stick to metal plates as opposed to nylon.
>>203615Two things: Purposeful practice (e.g. drill left-foot t-stops like 20 times as the first thing you do when you put skates on), and just time spent on skates. If you don't drill, you'll never learn how to do it; and without time on skates, you'll never learn to do it without thinking.>>202513kino
>>200485fuck brehs they need to rerelease those eislers, one of the best looking skates ever
>>201084I got a road rash this weekend going down a steep hill and immediately ordered some small sticky wheels. Picrel. Moving down from 72mm to 64mm inline. Maybe if I didn't live in the mountains I'd go with the bigger/harder ones. I also skate for the cardio so I think the smaller will serve me well for that.
>>202323>thought about buying a helmet>>1
are those fr x oysi frames going to get restocked, or are they a limited time thing? I wanted the 260mm ones but they sold out immediately.
>>207507I read somewhere they should be but nobody gave an eta
>>203150Not that Anon but I ordered a $25 set of 8 wheels as well. I wanted some LED wheels for night skate and to try some small wheels out. I've shredded my first set learning to skate the past month. These new have not worn down too much this first session but did slice a nice hole in one of the front wheels. Pic rel. To be fair I didn't inspect them much before putting them on. Rode for 1.5 hours tonight on these picrel. Link below.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B094D4BPSQ/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A2BHW94NEQUDXN&psc=1>>207384I ordered the 64's above. Smaller wheels pros and cons:Pros:>Slower skate, good for beginner or cardio>Tighter/easier turns, better handling, good downhill handlingThey're slower and turn easier. Good for beginner like me.Cons:>Unstable 1 legged skate>Less stable at high speeds>Rolling over the smallest twig will end your fucking lifeTend to turn a little too easily, making 1 leg skate unstable or making 2 legged go inwards pizza or V shape if you're not careful. Larger wheels like to fly straight which is convenient for going straight/fast with good stability. However, larger wheels aren't as good when you're wanting to shred side2side downhill to reduce your speed - hence a smaller wheel preference? Overall the 64mm are good for a absolute beginner. Think I'll move back up to 68-70mm as I feel these are too small for me now. I want smaller than 72 for safer downhill descent but 64 is def on the small side. I'll give them to my gf who's still falling on her ass every 0.25 mile. Can someone explain to me why anyone would choose 60mm for "aggressive" ?
>>207827>Can someone explain to me why anyone would choose 60mm for "aggressive" ?how do you mean? do you think that's too big or too small? desu 60mm has become almost the standard size for aggressive, even though it's the maximum you can fit in a lot of frames (aside from high-low frames like oysi)
>>207844Is it just because you need the room to make a grind spot on your frame? I wonder because I'd imagine 60mm are very slow and unstable to be considered "aggressive."
>>207854well that's one thing yeah, it leaves more space for the h-block.but aggressive is all about short, controlled bursts of speed rather than going fast over long distances. smaller wheels = higher acceleration and more stability when landing since you're closer to the ground.
has anyone been to the Berlin skating marathon? care to share your experience if you did?there's a few days left to sign up and I'll probably go so curious what to expect, never skated for that long before in one run and never been to a marathon of any kind beforeI've done ~60 minute runs in which I averaged something like 30km/h and it was through the city with ups and downs and stops and wind and shit, and at the marathon you get to draft behind others and skate on nice proper streets so I assume it'll be easier
>>208706Can't say I have, don't imagine you'll find many others either since it seems pretty niche on the grander scale of things. If you do go, tell us how it is.
>>208841I guess if most people here are US based it'd be quite the trip for a marathon; it's a few thousand people going in totalI saw parts of a full recording of the whole thing and it looks like drafting behind others and overall skating on good asphalt makes a difference, I can about an hour and a half with a few stoplights, a couple of bigger stupid bridge where it's always fucking windy, but otherwise pretty good asphalt, going 20km/h on average, so that would just make the cut-off time of 2 hours for the whole ~42kmwell some more time to train, still have to plan the whole thing but I hope I'll make it
>want to buy my first roller skates but my feet are wide so no one makes any that will fit me. I've been looking for wides for an hour now but I can't find any. Do I have to get a several hundred dollar custom pair for my freakish feet? I wear 9.5w shoes.
>>209565I usually have to wear thicker socks so I assume if you run some thin socks it wouldn't be an issue if you got a bigger pair. Idk. Or maybe get into freeskates.
>>208706a couple of the locoskates guys did it last year and ended up crashing into each other near the start lol
fruitbooters explain yourselves
>>210239>what is ski training
>>200485if I used to play hockey will I be a badass inline dude who impresses all the girls at the skatepark
>>211175>skateparkHow much do you like cunny?
>>211175from my experience you'll feel like you're stuck on traintracks the first time you try aggressive skates, I really recommend NOT skating antirocker at least.
Just got some AG60 frames and skating park is pretty fun with the banana rocker.
banana rocker on an aggressive frame or for aggressive skating in general is a bad meme
>>211678Why?
>>211678do people actually do this though? normally it's just people riding flat with a natural rocker.
>>211695>>211693>>211678how do I roller skate?
>>211695Yeah people do. So why do you think it's a meme tho? I'm trying to have a conversation with you here to understand why you came to that conclusion.
>>211723you're replying to a different person, you dolt
why isnt anyon helping me learn how to rollerskate
>>211740I would if you lived near me.
>>211769What's your home address?
>>211799Are you trying to doxx me?
there's a lot of people at the Berlin marathon desu, never seen so many skaters in tights in one place
Had my first "big" fall yesterday trying to skate backwards on flat. Fell right on my ass, didnt hit my head but had a headache for the rest of the night. Whats yalls biggest/goofiest fall stories?
>>212412rolling fakie off a miniramp and forgetting there was a flat rail in the middle of the park, landed on my tailbone and couldn't sit properly for a week.
>>212412This >>207384. Got a big ass scar now. Literally, on my ass.
jumbo episodes coming faster than I can find time to watch them. we're so back, rollerbros.
>>212906I like the Borklyn Zoo Schabernack videos. Someone should make one that's all female. Maybe from Brazil. The girls there rip and are cute.
>>212966>Maybe from Brazil.only if they don't speak.
So is iRollerboot locked up in a filipino prison or what? He hasn't posted in months.
>>213256Probably deployed
>>213256You can see in his videos that he's had a Filipino hooker with him at every skatepark. Probably knocked her up and forced to marry.
>>213262pretty sure he's 'retired' (ie a military welfare queen)
trying to get the hang of fakie grinds but can't work out which way to look once I'm actually in the grind. Keep looking towards the ledge, or switch to the other shoulder to spot my landing?
>>213472What's staring at the ledge gonna do? Should be balance-muscle-memory; trust that you'll ride it out after a point and make sure the next step after is safe (eg not jumping on glass or a comically placed banana peel) feels more important imo.

Anyone here skate solo with no hopes of ever finding someone to skate with?
>>213828yep, never even encountered another blader at any of the skate parks in my city.closest I came was one time I was at a skate spot when a girl on her lunch break approached me and excitedly started telling me how she used to skate until she messed up her knee, how sad she was selling her Aeons, showing me her insta videos.I've been trying to convince her to ignore her physiotherapist's advice not to skate, even considered buying her a cheap pair of Sways or something. Down bad, and I'm not even trying to bang her.
>>213832I've sold stuff locally to other bladers but nobody my age seems to want to skate with anyone outside of their established group. I met a quad skater once at a skatepark but he doesn't live nearby so I never bothered calling him back. I saw one guy looking to be my age shredding at a park I was visiting. I was too intimidated to talk to him 'cause he was so much better than me. >swaysBased.
are hyper wheels a meme?
>go back to practice skating in nearby parking at evening after months of break due to nearly breaking my wrist>end up making a family on walk and some shady people in cars uncomfortableyep, we're back
>>207827>Overall the 64mm are good for a absolute beginner. Think I'll move back up to 68-70mmAnd here I thought 80's are the basic beginner size, and even those still feel pretty small considering it's easy to trip on tiny rocks and stuff.
Beginner here, I bought a pair of recreational rollerblades (with rear rubber break), i find it really hard to do turns. Is this normal? I can stride just fine
>>215641Keep you legs/knees bentBalance to the side you want to turn toLift the leg on that side a bit.
>>215143Starting to feel pretty comfortable on skates. Can't balance on one leg for shit, so no T-braking, but slaloms seem to work for hills. That parking lot is starting to bore me a bit, but I still could use it to learn soul sliding.
no but seriously, is iRollerboot dead?
>>215657hey I can finally do turn and slalomby replacing my front and rear wheels to have a banana setupit's so much easier to turn with this setup
>>216864Naw just banging hookers in the Philippines
