Does bjj teach you anything useful?
>>
>>220100
There's a BJJ thread already, you fucking mongoloid. Every time you create a thread, another thread dies. Stop shitting up /xs/ with your retarded inquiries. Btw, I didn't bump this thread.
>>
>>220104
>a wannabe bjj fighter is retarded
*gasp*
>>
How to resist deadly attacks
>>
>>220104
Shut up. The threads here are hardly worth saving from page 10 anyway
>>

Its good training if you want to learn how to rape. lol jk

any sport that requires you to stick around in a grapple is exactly that - a sport. if by useful you mean "can i actually defend myself with it" then the best grappler is wrestling with the intention of just picking someone up and dumping them on their head or spine. if you are genuinely interested in self defense the best thing in my own opinion a combination of boxing and weight lifting to build the speed and power needed to hit someone hard enough to either knock them out or put them on their ass so you can leave safely

i challenge anyone who says BJJ is good for self defence: next time you roll with someone ask them to just try touching your face their hand at any point during the rolle - this will simulate them gouging your eyes out with thir fingers. i promise you even a white belt will be able to do it multiple times per roll

technical standup and the core stability and the sense of balance you get from doing it is very useful

it makes you go bald and sometimes gay

This is a retarded take as most practical martial arts have ideal situations 'in a street fight '
>judo
Understanding the risks of throwing hands like a retard, as well as how to fall without dying
>kickboxing
Understanding that jabs are OP and the risks of throwing a kick, rather that if someone is kicking you on the streets they have a very real chance of falling and breaking something
>bjj
Even bears practice this, when you're down, how to safely and aggressively get off your back

Another of practical BJJ is keeping away from your opponent, because if it's a street fight scenario I don't want to hug a fucking sweaty hobo and his yellow wifebeater

It's bad and terrible. It is not as good as high school wrestling.
>>

I wish I did wrestling but I'm not american so that wasn't an option in hs. If only the retard Gracie Brapzillians didn't lobotomize judo standup.
>>
I totally had forgotten about this thread and was about to make the exact same joke as the first time I was here (>>220406).

In all honesty, knowing how to defend yourself if the fight goes to the ground is useful. The problem lies in the fact that most BJJ purists suck while standing up (the position in which most fights start out in) and most competition BJJ people suck at takedowns and throws (a necessary skill when your opponent isn't following BJJ competition rules), so you end up with these practitioners who don't know what they don't know, and not only are they getting their ass kicked by a lot of strikers, but they'll get their ass kicked by other grapplers like wrestlers and judokas too.

Gracie, arguably one of the world's best BJJ practitioners with an 82% win rate at one point, got really famous for winning UFC 1 and then losing many times afterwards to strikers and wrestlers.

In summary, the techniques are valid; the culture, training focus, competition methodology, etc., are not.

Anon what combat sports do you have experience in and is NoGi bjj any better than the regular one?

Context:
There’s one gym near me but they only have one dedicated wrestling class but 2x NoGi and 2x BJJ.
I plan to combine it with boxing 2 times a week so Nogi 1x Wrestling 1x.

There is a place a little farther away with just two times wrestling a week but with costs of driving there it would be the same cost and then I’d still have to find somewhere to box
