Based. No more brothers wars.
Should I join my local muay Thai gym
>>241128Serious question what's the difference between learning these sweeps in a judo club Vs kickboxing club?
>>241177yeah>>241179Judo and wrestling throws have multiple points of contact, usually 2-3 with only 1 point of contact being very situational. Off-balancing someone to setup a throw or takedown usually happens after you already have a grip on somebody. Throws in striking involve much fewer points of contact and the off-balancing is usually achieved with strikes and feints from a longer distance before contact is made.On a meta level, muay thai throws (even the ones similar to judo throws) are purposely done differently due to anti-Japanese sentiment in Thailand as a result of World War 2. For example, you can sweep with the side of the foot, but not the bottom because that's "too much like judo".
>>241179You can't sweep without establishing grips, it's considered a kick by the rules if i remember correctly. Also you should turn your foot and hit with your sole in judo.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BUUvqxi_Kk
>>241293AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH
Gonna start Muay Thai this week. Used yo do boxing, last time was in september 2021, haven't done much exercising since.
I'd like shoot boxing a lot more if the clinches didn't get reset, and the match straight-up ended when someone fell.
>>241179In Judo, you will learn to throw off your opponent's balance, then sweep him. Here you will use his own momentum against him, much more like Aikido.
>"For a beginner in Muay Thai, start with a less frequent training schedule, such as 1-2 times a week, to let your body adjust to the intense workouts. As you become accustomed to the physical demands, you can gradually increase the frequency to 3-5 times a week to see faster improvement and potentially compete"Is this true or should one be training the most when just starting out to build muscle memory?
>>241700i would imagine you'd want to go light on the conditioning and heavy on the technical work to start with- it'll probably depend on your coach though
>ANPO SIGNED WITH ONE FUCK YEAH>see who his debut is againstuh oh
>>241179Muay thai has stricter rules about sweeps, lots of judo sweeps are actually illegalThe very rough rule of thumb is a sweep that looks like a kick is okay, but using the pad of the foot, or the heel to the rear (e.g. osoto gari) is illegal and might be called by the refIt's specifically because thais don't like japanese, for uh no reason whatsoever, so they don't want japanese judo-ey sweeps in their sport, but the reality of kickboxing is that you can kick out someone's leg, so the result is a specific way to sweep that is fine
Hey, fatty fat fat here, I took my first class today, couple questions.>1. my coach said I get the best bang for my buck if I order proper muay thai boxing gloves with pinky protection from the head coach, they sell for about twice of what the cheapest pair of Outshock boxing gloves cost in Sports Direct, scam or deal?>2. What the hell am I supposed to do when someone advances on me and keeps a combo up in sparring?>3. I did a tiny bit of boxing and I noticed the guys never defend body jabs and they have trouble defending jabs in general, specifically square down the middle, am I onto something or am I being retarded here and unkowingly exposing myself for a knee or something when I change level and do a body jab?
>>242600>my coach said I get the best bang for my buck if I order proper muay thai boxing gloves with pinky protection from the head coach, they sell for about twiceLol
>>242600>>242607What the fuck even is "pinky protection"?
>>242609I don't fucking know I just started, he said there's a reinforced part over the pnky side so when you block a kick your finger doesn't break.
>>242612That sounds like some ole made up bullshit
>>242615Idk maybe he meant that instead of having most of the padding around the knuckles it's more even or something? It's like 60 bucks so idk if it's worth it.
>>240529I started kick boxing today.
>>242423yea idk what ONE is thinking matching him up with Grigorian, this gonna end up like kaitos debut if not worse
>>242948How did you find it?
>>243335well, people were also doubting with Noiri against Tawanchai and look how that ended up
Anpo looks like Tawanchai's evil brother lmao
>>243337My legs are wood, the stretching is killing me but it's cool.
So I almost signed up to the MT/ kickboxing gym but then It made me download some app and then all of a sudden the membership prices are mysteriously higher in the app, and some of the classes advertised on their website no longer exists on the app so I thought fuck that.. Did I dodge a bullet? Seems like a dishonest practice
>>244221Gyms have apps? Is that common? I've never seen that.
>>244250Yeah apparently. Where you have to "pre book" the session. I'm guessing it's so you can't go more than your membership allowsIt's clearly a "reputable" and fancy gym, the guys been around for years. I just find it dishonest that suddenly once you download the app and fill in your details, classes are suddenly missing and memberships are either more expensive or unavailable, compared to the website (which says it's supposed to be accurate)And the only way to buy membership is through the app. Oh well
>>244250If it makes more sense, it's a generic app called "club right". I'm guessing multiple clubs use it for members to book sessions etc
>>244221It could be deliberate or it could just be a lazy lack of synchronization. Sounds annoying to deal with either way. >>244250>>244253One of the weightlifting gyms near me uses some kind of generic membership app (forget what it's called, don't feel like looking it up). From reading reviews of the app it looks like all kinds of gyms use it and that people find all kinds of problems with it but gym owners keep using it anyway because they're lazy and it's "good enough." I don't want to download an app to use the gym (particularly if the app has tedious problems) so I didn't join and bought weights to use at home instead.
>>244255Yeah stuff like this really puts me off. I noticed a LOT of martial arts gyms are very vague when it comes to pricing. It's all either "call this number" so they can bullshit you or you have to really dig hard to find the pricing. I don't think they know how many customers they are losing thanks to unprofessional shit like this. First impressions are everything in business
>>240529Suggestions for youtube channels with good info like training, techniques, not matches?
>>244495Jeff-chan, Bazooka Joe, Gabriel Varga, Damien Trainor, Ramsey Dewey, PowerTraining, hard2hurt, Armchair Violence, ShortBoxing, Bambara Boxing, Skillr boxing, The Modern Martial Artist, George Hardwick, Bas Rutten, Liam Harrison, Bang & Pivot. These are the most recurring ones in my training playlist, and i gotta say, these channels + watching and imitating fighters i like improved my game immensely
>>240529Is 1 year MT 3 days a week enough to become dangerous?
Just did kicks on the heavy bag for the first timeEven though I aimed to hit with my shin, my foot caught the bag a few times, and now my toes and foot are bruised I can stand and walk on them, but it stings if I move them around. Is this normal? will my feet toughen up over time? Wait until the bruises have gone or train through it?
>>245164Yes it's normal, you can keep training unless you train every day and the pain is really bad.
>>245205Thanks
>>240529I have my first match coming up soon. How do you overcome the fear? I'm scared shitless to get hurt or knocked outlike these >>242674>>242821
>>245213i'm 13 fights in and still scared kek i dont think the fear ever goes away
>>245513Did he die?
Where do I aim for on the head/face in sparring? Is there an etiquette for it? I figured in boxing it was top of the forehead if you're being "nice"
>>245606I was told to punch for the forehead
